@Kralith Yeah, I get what you mean...and it does kinda expose you a bit more to bot accounts and such (where they invite you and then spam links and the likes). I myself have stumbled across these kind of friend forum topics and ended up making some really great friends and meeting really interesting people. But to each their own, I totally get you.
