      @Prometheus Two questions on the matter:

      1. How important will RNG be in crafting? Will knowledge and materials guarantee success? Or will you also need to be lucky?
      2. Will there be any outcome difference between an average skill craftsmen and a high skill craftsmen creating the exact same item? (small stats increments maybe)

    • RE: What unusual weapon types would you like to see?

      Empty off hand! Games tend to discredit the empty off hand so much... Yet in reality, it was extensively used for grappling, disarms, throwing objects to distract the opponent, to regain balance, or if it was armored, to straight forward block with it. Very few games ever addressed this and only slightly. I'd love it if fractured would put that empty off hand in it's rightful place. 😄

      This one brings most amazing news! I just found out i can like this game to come more than I did. Also.. I like to think the Champion of the good idea was somewhat influenced by my posts, though I'm sure others thought about it before me. One question, how important will your alignment be in regards to championing neutral gods? I mean, i'm more inclined to play good but lore wise, I'd love to be a champion of Galvanos. Will I be able to do so with a really high karma?

      @jetah I've played some as well. Still , in those games, swords and maces behaved exactly the same (same skills, same damage output, same secondary effects) I found that annoying and I quit playing those games. Anyway, that's personal opinion. My point though, is that in the games that let you have a mace look like a sword, it doesn't really matter whether you have a mace or a sword so it won't have much of an impact on the strategy that should be used against you. Also, in all the games i've played that allowed you to swap "skins" like that pvp was definitely not important. It was just something you could do if you really wanted to. As for illusion magic, I think @Dybuk gave a pretty good answer.

      @jetah I doubt that if you see a guy wearing a zweihander, you would expect that zweihander to behave like a Dane axe! This is (insert friendly insult to intelligence here). All your examples refer to concealed weapons! It has nothing to do with obvious stuff. If you see someone with an assault rifle... you can expect a certain type of threat. If you see someone wearing full Kevlar, you can expect your 9 mm pistol to be completely useless unless you specifically aim for gaps in the armor. In game, a full plate gives you a certain type of damage mitigation. Anyone attacking a person wearing full plate should be able to expect that. A sword has a different form of damage output and effects then an axe... I should be able to expect that from a player wielding an axe. Sure, your skills may influence the effects in ways I cannot predict but not your gear itself. a physical object with the properties of a mace cannot behave like a sword (it bashes but it doesn't cut or thrust, and it's weight distribution forces the wielder into committed swings due to incredibly tiresome and sluggish feints that won't really fool anyone).

      I agree with everyone stating the wardrobe should still show the type of weapon and armor you are wearing, to give an idea to everyone looking at you, about what your strengths and weaknesses are most likely to be (you could still set up your stats and skills in a way that would surprise them, though). The argument referring to knights wearing robes over chain mail/coat of plates, doesn't really stand. Trust me, your first glance will tell you whether he's got armor underneath. The cloth was there to keep the dust away, and show the crest. As far as having good gear that looks poor, for deceptive purposes, That would indeed be interesting, but only if there is a reputation mechanic with a powerful in game impact (access to certain areas in towns, guard patrols will only protect noble people and so forth, npc-s refuse to talk to or serve plebs and vice versa, of course) that derives from how rich you look.

      What about teachers? Players that have mastered a skill, could teach the lower tiers of that skill to other players. The speed at which the skill would be taught, should depend on the teaching skill of the master, as well as his charisma and intelligence modifiers. The skill learning process only takes place while the master and student play together. (in the same party, within shout distance). Teachers could demand a fee for their time, of course! 😄

      The only lore wise way to implement an instanced dungeon in an open world mmo that I can think of, is a god beaming you to some special place where you are about to take a trial. This could be implemented as a means to acquire some god specific knowledge. Other than that, you could have in game mechanics that sort of limit access to certain areas (for ex. moon phases cause flux and flood the access point for a limited time). Still I think it's good that the game does not pursuit instanced content. Campers can get counterganked. So, instead of wining, people should get organised. It's not an MMO if it's not a community. Besides, i find it outrageous that people suggest they'd rather be gathering resources in a safe spot instead of jumping to the defense while their home city is being invaded by daemons. This MAKES NO SENSE! It's not like those invasions happen all the time, anyway!

      @gibbx If our study is to have any weight, i reckon we'll need bigger numbers for the statistics. Let's say, 1000 players, 1000 nights out each. Let the gallons pour down the throats of avid scientists. I also suggest the German tradition of dueling with sword & tankard where the purpose is to knock the ale out of your friends hand!
