    • RE: Gamer Demographics & Namings

Oh dear god(says the atheist)!!! And here I thought this day couldn't get worse...

There was no constructive about the original post. It was about as constructive as saying,"get woke, go broke," is a scientific fact(although there are more and more evidence piling up each day in support of such theory).

Let the devs decide whatever language they want to use. As for us-consumers, the majority is sick and tired of political correctness being shoved down everyone's throats. So logically speaking, how does pandering to an actual minority group, at expense of the majority makes for a beneficial financial move?

It just doesn't. As in many cases, the majority will be pushed away from the product, while the minority won't be interested in the product, anyway.

Also, real smooth-attacking d00ds right away and then going,"see-I knew they wouldn't like it."

Yeah, no kidding! How would you like being proverbially slapped in the face?

      https://www.latimes.com/entertainment/movies/la-et-mn-caa-diversity-study-exclusive-20170622-story.html

summary for the folks too busy to click the link: Movies with diverse casts and female leads actually perform best at the box office. My o.p. was based on this premise.

Not saying women & non-binary folk won't play a game that's not taking them into account - we've been doing that for decades now ๐Ÿ˜˜ ๐Ÿ˜Ž - but if the idea is to make the game as attractive as possible to the most buyers, I'm having trouble understanding why suggesting non-gendered naming is so upsetting to y'all.

I'm not going to engage folks who have contempt for the whole idea and I'm not trying to change minds. I'm just dropping some facts for the devs to use as they choose.

I find it fascinating that suggesting gender-neutral language seemed provocative & unnatural to many posters, but not the idea that in-game 'racial' slurs would become normal. In a meta sense, I'm thinking that just like sci-fi, for some a game is a place to replicate our world and for others it's a place to comment on/experiment with it.

Right, that article was written by a black gay(no problem with the guy, but forgive me for considering him biased on the matter). It talks about studies, which are impossible to find online(at least I couldn't) and which are made by a "diversity expert," for a talents agency(definitely biased there-hire our talents, coz they make money).

The study, itself, is based on data for 2014-2016, which is pretty outdated by now. While it shows that the number of minorities going to movies increases every year(or it was, by 2016-outdated data), it doesn't shows the total number of movie goers(did it increased or decreased), it doesn't refers which movies and it's audiences were studied, nor is it taking into consideration any outside factors, like improving economics and inflation.

The only movie it does refers to is "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," calling it best-performing movie, among evaluated ones, and saying it had 40% diverse case and 38% diverse audience... Which makes me facepalm, because the study and the author make it sound like it was a success because of it's diversity and not because it was a hyped up STAR WARS EPISODE 7 movie, after decades of waiting for a franchise sequel.

So basically, the whole article, and a study can be summed with this:

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Correlation_does_not_imply_causation

As for how does that article relates to your request-I still don't understand, since when you read the article, the main topic of it is diversity of races.

    • Race Evolutions Sugestion.

Not gonna like-I really like the idea of racial evolution... Especially such a drastic one like demons have.

But that's just for the good guys, and what about those trully diabolical ones? Can the trully diabolical ones evolve to become even worse? Some demons may decide that it's better to reign in Hell, than to serve in Heaven. So why not have an evolution option for those REALLY evil ones, where they become archdemons, or devils?

And why not make the same for beastmen, as well? Abomination for evil ones and...I dunno a treant, or a driad for the holly ones?

Honestly, the whole idea of evolution is an interesting one and I'd love to see it expanded, in due time.

So far, most of spells were quite meh, and you'd run out of mana after casting only few of them.

So I suggest we wait and see both knowledge system and refined magic system, before raising the alarm.

A bulletin board for the players to leave their notes for other players is a great idea and allows for roleplay opportunities, as well as improves in-game community engagement and interaction.

No need to overthink things-just allow players to make requests and let the rest sort out between them, in-game.

    • RE: Funding

As someone who just recently purchased a pledge, here are few things that made me hesitant of pledging:

1)No immedient gain. Even if I'm getting the most expensive pledge there is, fact of a matter is devs can promise anything and everything in the future(stars and planets, included), but right now, this moment, I'm getting nothing for my money.

2)Limited timeframe testing. This is partly continuation of previous point, as well as making it a sepparate issue, which is time. It's bad enough access to test servers is limited by test phases and time limit, but people themselves have limited time and when they are faced with choice of dedicated that limited time to test server or carrying on with their regular life, at their regular pace, many people are going to pick doing things at their own pace. And if that's the case, many people would not bother getting a pledge, because they wouldn't be taking advantage of it.

3)Low crowdfunding goal. Fewer money may be just as damgerous for the project as too mich of money. Many people are looking at such low stretch goals and are asking themselves,"and what exactly can they do with this little money?" Then they go to the forums and learm that the devs have investors, in addition to crowdfunding campaign. And if some investor invests money into it, why would random joe invest his money into it? And for that matter, why would there be a crowdfunding campaign? Something's too fishy here... Or, well, along those lines.

4)The stretch goals, themselves... They are... well... bland, too few and are all maxed out. I mean, just look at them? Character creation-that's supposed to be an obvious feature, by today's standards. Fishing-unless it's live bait Waterworld fishing-booooooring. Animal taming? Some are excited for it, for others that sounds like a potential grind or a chore... If it were saying something badarse, like,"TAME AND RIDE DRAGONS," then far more people would be excited for that feature. However, as it stands now- meh. And on top of that, there are no more stretch goals. This game needs more stretch goals, with badarse goals, to boot!... Maybe, something like expanded racial evolution?shameless wink

5)Not enough buzz. Too few streamers are covering this game, for too little time, when they are allowed to, for a limited time, during testing. There are no new videos featuring Fractured on Youtube and there are no news to share, so even if content creators want to help this game by promoting it-they got nothing to go by! They've already promoted it, several times and they've said all they could say about Feactured-they got nothing else left! The devs themselves are kinda, sorta silent. For example, ok-we got an update that the upcoming alpha test phase 2 is supposed to be in June(correct me if I'm wrong). So, when exactly, why people should be looking forward to it? And why should people buy into it? If devs have sonething to show, then they should send invitation to content creators and give them access to test server, earlier than the rest-an exclusive first look, of sorts, for them to start talking about Fractured, againm so that more people would learn of Fractured. And why is this here-well, because if you, by accident learn of some game that nobody's talking about, you'll be hesitent to invest into unknown.

@Aurellas said in When is the alpha finishing?:

@deusex2 Neither did I, but I'm not too bothered by it. I see the Alphas as more of a proof of concept combined with a soundboard of idea between the Devs and us.

The hardcore testers can break the game as it's easier to pick up bugs now than later, and I get to play the Beta when things look better and perform better.

Besides: I'm sure the Devs are working on my cape right now, so all is right with the world. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hey, it's not like I'm crying in a corner, right now...I totally am not...

    • RE: Int, is the most important crafting stat!

@Hawkenser said in Int, is the most important crafting stat!:

@Gothix Everyone knows a alchemist must taste test to get it right and make new discoveries ๐Ÿ™‚ A good constitution would be wise for that.

He doesn't have to test in on himself, though...Which is why strength can come in handy ๐Ÿ˜‰

And I still maintain my stance that crafting shouldn't be stat related.

Instead, it would've been much better if it were circumstance related.

For example, let's say you want to craft Epic Armor of Blessed Epicness. Under stat dependency, you'd need to have a certain stat threshold, in order to be able to craft it, which is boring and it forces you into not playing the character the way you like it.

On the other hand, in case crafting is circumstance related, then to craft Epic Armor of Blessed Epicness, you'd need to pick the right location for crafting, and start crafting at the right day/night time, and you'd need a special crafting station, built not just from any material, but from a special metal, which comes from a specific location(not just any iron, for example).

Now, getting the materials is an adventure, in on itself, let alone being able to keep the plot of land at the right location. Anybody can do it, and many will do it...Or die trying...

@deusex2 hmmmm Iโ€™m able to run as magic missle continues casting after itโ€™s proced, but I donโ€™t know if thatโ€™s intended or not.

They still arenโ€™t hard to kill if you try out other combinations of skills. When soloing as a mage type control spells like webs or ice that slow or keep them away from you are really important.

Edit: and remember, fireball is always your friend. I havenโ€™t seen any resistant to it yet

Not saying being mage is hard, just nowhere near as efficient as melee or ranged.
