I couldn't find "controller", "pad" or "gamepad" in the compilation thread, so probably there hasn't been any info on this topic yet.

      Pros:

      • Weather and day/night time does not concern them
      • They can fit in small spaces
      • Small lodgings - coffin is enough.

      Cons:

      • Necromancers can possess them and order them around

      🙂

But what if the skeleton is the necromancer?

Then they can possess and order themselves around.

Which is either completely unremarkable basic ability or awe-inspiring daring feat, depending on whether you're a regular person or a depressed one.

      Wow.

So of course the one MMO with reasonably planned out development plan has its core library sweeped out from under their feet.

Hopefully that will turn out to be a temporary obstacle. I wish all the devs best of luck!

No, no, you're completely wrong, they also have free teleports, that's completely radical. /s

Yeah, if you phrase it like that, your point is rock solid.

Demons are rather useless (sadly ).

So getting your town - in which you invested a lot of time - besieged and ruined while you're away from the game is "oodles of fun", ...

...but launching unpredictable attacks, seeing shitty NPC guards driven before you, and hearing lamentations of town owners (when they log back in) is "boring, not much"?!

Shards Online sounded pretty good and neat on paper, yet turned into something else.

Do you perhaps have a write-up about it somewhere? I'm usually interested in people's personal takes on specific games.

    • RE: Are you a PVP or PVE player?

Shouldn't this thread have a poll or something?

In MMOs, I am definitely a PvE player, as there are several reasons why I don't enjoy PvP:

      1. I am in bottom percentage of humanity when it comes to reflex or body co-ordination, so I am literally too slow to fight in a meaningful way,
      2. I am not competetive - given a choice between a [gear/skillset/deck/army list] that is meta-optimal-BestInSlot, and one that is thematic, fun, hilarious and/or unnecessarily complicated, I'll pick the latter every time,
      3. I hate losing my progress to death penalties because a bunch of miscreants decided to kick my teeth in,
      4. I hate making other people lose their progress,
      5. possibility of getting ganked puts me on edge and - at a baseline - I play MMOs to relax.

Having said that, I am going to roll a Demon character, but only for the challenge of ascending to Angelhood.

...because you can't be anxious about your toon's teeth getting kicked in, if that toon's sole purpose is to get its teeth kicked in, right?

Okay, yeah, on further thought, this can mean you won't be doing much crafting, trading or town-governing.

    • RE: What are you playing until release?

I have little free time, and was really lucky with [last/current] year's [Christmas/birthday] presents and some high-quality promotional giveaways, so I've got a couple of really great games in the backburner...
SUPERHOT, Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, Darkest Dungeon with all DLCs, Wizardry 8, Shadowrun: Hong Kong
...as well as some minor curiosities that will gather dust because I have so little time...
Outcast: Second Contact, demo for Particle Fleet, demo for Deltarune
      ...but right now I'm playing...

A Diablo-but-for-people-who-hate-Diablo with surprisingly high production values, great atmosphere, and gameplay balanced at just about my level that pushes you to really engage with most loadouts.

      Into the Breach

A minimalistic turn-based strategy with UI/UX smoother than velvet with an enormous heap of innovation, gameplay variety, replay value, hard-but-fair-ness. Seriously, it's the game of the year 2018 for at least 3 outlets, and I can wholeheartedly agree it's deserved.

      Creeper World 3

(And possibly Creeper World 4: Now with 3D and Actual Waves, whenever this comes out?) Because I'll always come back to the game series about building energy grid so you can shoot at world-devouring jam kissel pudding.

      Defender's Quest 2

...if it comes out before Fractured (no pressure, Lars 😉 ).

@zidroc said in What are you playing until release?:

Will mostly be on HoTs when I have time. All winter break I played WoW a lot, but that'll be gone once I head back to school. Also quit OSRS a few weeks ago 😕

Heroes of the Storm, right? They say that the in-game community recovered from - or maybe rather wasn't affected by - the shock of Blizzard's December announcement about killing off HGC and reducing dev team size, and the queue size is alright. Is that true?

    • RE: Will humans be able to change with karma like demons and beastman?

So @Lightspoon and @Eurav already addressed the part regarding Humans, so I'm going to address this one:

@miikiious said in Will humans be able to change with karma like demons and beastman?:

If demons can change into angels, will there be bonuses or special forms for demons that fulfill thier purpose and go down the road of complete evil.

I think you're missing the point here.

The way I see it, each race, and each alignment, represent a different mode of play:

      • Demons and evil alignment are PvP,
      • Humans and neutral alignment are mixed PvP/PvE,
      • Beasts Beastfolk Beastmen and good alignment are PvE.

Therefore, turning a Demon into an Angel is all about taking a PvP-only character and converting it to PvE, while turning a Beastwoman Beastman into an Abomination is all about taking a PvE-only character and converting it to PvP.

In other words, it's all about the challenge of taking direct and deliberate actions against your default mode of play. This requires dedication, forethought and - judging by what we know so far - skill. If it didn't require that, there would be no challenge, it would give no bragging rights, and would be completely pointless.

For contrast, picking a Demon (ie. a PvP race) and "fulfilling their purpose" by "going down the road of complete evil" (ie. doing a lot of PvP) is a complete no-brainer. Giving extra rewards for doing that would either lead to them being:

      • (if they were tied to non-leaderboard-dependent conditions) an obligatory reward that everyone but the people going against the grain has to earn, which would be dangerously close to obligatory grind,
      • (if they were tied to leaderboards) permamently locked to top X% of players, which could lead to toxicity, as well as funneling a lot of players to try to constantly optimise for the narrow set of things that define being in top X%, which would be bad for sandbox feel of the game.

So no, I don't see that happening.

    • RE: What's your motivation for your pledge pack?

I don't have a pledge pack yet, because budget issues.

My main motivation is going to putting my money where my mouth is by supporting an MMO that promises to do what I want an MMO to do.

However, I'll probably buy one of the cheapest packs, because of A) budget issues, B) I was burned by Firefall's, launch, and C) I was burned by Starbound being designed as if to precisely annoy me while pretending to tick every single box on my "ideal 2D open sandbox" list, and that got worse as the game developed.

I suppose I would care for the rewards/bonuses, but I hate time-limited items, so few months of VIP and few months of carpenter NPC are definitely not something that would motivate me to upgrade my pack.

@lovechildbell said in Anyone else dying to know how Pre-Alpha testing is going?:

Unless its going terribly and everything is on fire I don't wana know about it.

Yes, that's my stance. Pre-alpha is not something that's pleasant to look at, or has much anything to look at.

Plus, I hold on to the belief that the more patched the game is, the better it is, so my patience is not being particularly tested. (And I don't have time to play at this time, too.)
