@Althalus From what I've heard it's a possibility but it very much depends on what the Beastmen players want. It's something I've discussed in private with Prometheus.

I'd much prefer a unique PvE content option for the Beastmen. πŸ™‚ Maybe a dangerous "corruption hunt", or something else in character. (The evil influences of Tartaros must be continually kept at bay!)

And I could see some kind of super-PvP option for Tartaros, just to keep the theme going.

Death Race 2020: A conglomeration of demons begin at location X and must make it to location Y without dying.
      You die, you're out.
First 10 players to make it to Y ..... what?

      Fox & Hounds - Coursing
Dev demon is designated 'fox' and demon players are the hounds.
First one to deliver [dropped loot item, unique] to location Y.... what?

      So many ideas. >:)

    • RE: Will Beastmen be playable May 28th, 2020?

I believe we're still in very early alpha and (to my knowledge) the Beastmen races come later. (Right now, only male/female human models and the character options/etc usually come much later, closer to release).

This alpha seems to be mostly about verifying core systems and combat are working (seem to be)... so I didn't expect the shiney (and likely won't until much later).

I"m sure if I'm wrong on any count, someone will be along to correct shortly. Either way, it's fun to roam skeered and slow around this world so far. πŸ˜‰

    • RE: Goblin Hill and Vale of Shadows as tutorial locations?

@Cabby I believe it says immediately under that "quest" that it is a placeholder quest and not actually intended for "the tutorial".

Personally, I took that to mean "Alpha caveat - we don't have the content for this part yet, so we're giving you some places to check out while we continue cranking code".... but I can see how it might be mistaken for a final state item.

I went to Heartwood, promptly got my hiney handed to me by a wisp, and forsook my corpse for inability to get it without further death/loss. (Solo player because forcusing on NPE.)

I went to goblins and worked up my knowledge on them and the wolves nearby for that sweet bleed attack. And materials.

Then, back to town for hide armor (Oh yeahhhhh) and then back to the gobbies for small grind fest to afford buying land so I can experience the transition out of NPE (when the Nheedra are available).

For now, I'm actually focusing on trying to break the NPE quests through a variety of 'misuse cases'. So far, remarkably tight.... but there is an issue with dupes that I'm trying to recreate, so eh....

Anyway... I appreciate seeing the perspective of other players and you really did a good job of outlining your view. Great read and thank you for that. πŸ™‚

    • RE: Bug or Intended? Projectiles miss due to incline.

@Nekrage I have noticed that when enemy is above you (you are down incline), you miss them more. Literally, they have the higher ground and it seems the engine/physics account for it... which is both amazing and portends future potential that I won't torment you by outlining. (evil grin)

When possible, be on the high ground. When not possible, be unavailable. Heh.

Hm. I'd be willing to compile for delivery (deliver to @Prometheus for review/use) if that would help them continue. 30 minutes a week Zoom call and delivery by PM or email or whatever.

    • RE: Preparing for May-June Alpha (feedback thread from me; edits with addition post test)

Third Session - May 27th - I spent about an hour on my melee character; here are my thoughts:

      • TOO MUCH CLICKING REQUIRED. I like action combat, but holy crap... I've had carpal tunnel surgery on my dominant hand and I still got soreness from yesterday's session.
      • I'm happy that archers do not distance when you close (as a tank)... but is that intentional?
      • Swarm aggro seems a bit high at the goblin fortresses.
      • As loathe as I am to say it, hide armor seems mildly OP given the results in my melee build test (see entry on contest forums), but I am glad of it when those swarms happen.
      • Might want to consider some manner of lead-in for enchanting. I get all these reagents, but have no idea how to get started with it (I know, that's polish stuff... but I'd like to test it if anyone has a short overview? Forums only seem to return a spreadsheet.)
      • I'm not sure how I feel about currency being loot/dropped on death. Will this be the same across all worlds or vary depending on the ruleset?

I'm choosing NOT to proceed into housing/crafting as I want to focus on NPE for the races/classes as they arrive. For this reason, I will rarely move beyond the goblin fortress until we're far enough along that NPE is all but locked. Feel free to specify any testing/cases and I'll backlog and test.

      Thanks for listening.

    • RE: Preparing for May-June Alpha (feedback thread from me; edits with addition post test)

Second Session - May 26th - I spent about two hours on a new character (melee); here are my thoughts:

      • strategic pulling and lazy aggro work... i really, really like that.
      • i have trouble staying in combat range when fighting (accidentally misclick, etc) - this is probably my most annoying thing so far.
      • it would be nice to have larger labels at the 'macro' level of map view (on entry) but this is more 'nice to have'.
      • it would be nice to have some means of visual cue when an animal is nonaggro/aggro/socially aggro. swarms are not fun.
      • i see some hitching when changing tiles/areas - assume alpha but pointing it out just in case....

UI Requests - Mostly QoL related:

      1. As a player, I want to be able to quickly move items between locations, so it doesn't require many clicks and mouse movements.
      2. As a player, I want to be able to stack raw resources in greater quantity, so I can stock regularly used items without exhausting storage space (i.e., 20, 50, 100?).
      3. As a player, I want to be able to favorite recurrently used recipes for faster access, so I can accelerate the selection/crafting process.
      4. As a player, I want to be able to craft from both inventory and bank (home town only), so I am not wasting time consolidating resources instead of producing output.

I'm sure to have more... see any replies.

      Thanks for listening!

    • [Feedback]: Did content pills get killed by the virus?

I miss these; they were a great way to keep up to date when I couldn't make time to watch videos through, search forums, etc.

Will they be making a comeback, or has the whole virus thing kind of messed it up?

    • RE: Yo-Na Commune [US|PST|CASUAL] welcomes your interest

      Obligatory lore(ish) introduction:

Shall I tell you a story I once heard as a cub? A tale of how we came to be?

In a place neither near nor far, and a time neither now nor then, it is said that Elysium and Nelene danced. When the dance was complete, imponderable time had passed and many things that once were not had come into being.

To commemorate the collaboration, Elysium made for Nelene a ring of memories and set it in the void to sparkle and delight. The jewel of this ring, Arboreus, is the dream of Elysium's dance with Nelene manifest. As with any garden, both flora and fauna dance in a rhythm of being and becoming that is ancient, that is current, that is ever-new, ever lush, ever waning, infinite.

Here, in our shared garden of memory and delights, are we; the people of the land, the hand, and the band – a lattice of interdependence and inclusion – we thrive and survive due to the love of Elysium as tempered by Nelene, a spangle of diamonds, our restless ring, cascading through the void.

Our people are the children of Elysium, chosen of Nelene. We call ourselves β€œNheedra”, and while we are a people of tooth and claw, no less given to anger than any other, we bind our will and our weapons instead in service to the greater balance, to our winsome, graceful, eternal mother, and to those with whom we share this experience.

There is comfort, peace, and prosperity for those who make of their lives a stewardship; our temples are few and far from proud, but within them any who require rest, respite, and relief are welcome.

May your path be smooth under your feet
May your head rest upon softness
May your hand find all things at need
May the fellowship of the Nheedra be to you
A light on desperate and deep nights,
      made greater by your presence.

And when this be not so, remember in good faith our name and be welcome.

      Signed,
      Ekajata, Ursa-Madre
      Yo-na Commune

    • RE: Is this a new hyped up Albion or games that fall in that territory?

I think the best way to understand that would be to review the developer videos on their youtube channel. If you watch the first one and aren't interested, you've saved time. Or, perhaps you'll be like me, watch them all, and finally get that eternal pack.

Or here's a gameplay look for more immediate reaction:

    • Yo-Na Commune [US|PST|CASUAL] welcomes your interest

      Relevant link: https://fracturedmmo.com/guild-profile/id/4376/

The Yo-Na Commune is a loose association of beastfolk seeking a peaceful mercantile and/or farming experience. Depending upon interest over time, we may grow into a town but our focus is more on shared progress within a larger community than a competitive or exclusionary one.

Husband/Wife founders intend to develop a democratic community within which direction and authority are shared in parity with those who provide the organization and infrastructure to make "fun" for others.

Further direction to be defined as membership and time yields interest. Questions welcome.

    • Preparing for May-June Alpha (feedback thread from me; edits with addition post test)

First Session/New Player Experience - May 26th - I spent about an hour and a half testing today; here are my thoughts in no particular order:

      • much smoother than expected for early alpha stage; nice!
      • over time, my character's "position" on the screen began slipping toward the top. will try to figure out how to recreate.
      • if i fire a staff shot off screen, does it actually continue until it hits something? (misfire central here, and LOTS of off-screen aggro... related?)
      • I know this is 'top down', it would be nice to be able to set a pan/tilt preference on the camera.

UI Requests (I know it's alpha, but this is kind of important stuff for older folk like me, and possibly for those arriving from the MMO segment)

      1. As a player, I want to know the general direction and/or coordinates of my most recent corpse, so I can actually find it.
      2. As a player, I want to be able to set WASD or arrow movement keys, so I can play effectively with keyboard and mouse.
      3. As a player, I want to be able to use numeric keys for my ability/skill hotbar, so I can play effectively with keyboard and mouse.
      4. As a player, I want to be able to increase the contrast of the quest tracker and chat windows, so I can read them easily.

I'm sure to have more thoughts; they'll be added as replies.

      Thank you for listening!

    • RE: Lore?

I am very interested in lore and should there not be a lot about, I will be creating canon for my guild/commune, myself, and any member who cares to have a place in the house histories.

I like the multiverse concept that they seem to be leaning into, and I'm hopeful they will use the fractured theme to introduce depth and diversity of alien worlds across the three types as things move forward.

So many ideas here. I cannot wait to see where it goes. I actually think I may stream my alpha experience (since I'll be "new" player focused).... hmm.

    • RE: Ok, Bought the game after a 2 min video on youtube; was it the right choice?

Just went eternal after watching since the initial stealth-break announcement.

I wanted to do it at the 2 minute mark, but industry history of late made me skittish.

I am looking forward to the open alpha and will not regret my purchase. I don't think you will, either... so yes, definitely the right choice to support a game that really aligns with your interests and desires.
