Imagine if the game required you to get back to your corpse after death or else your character was deleted, and then some jackass demon ate your corpse.

RE: Racial languages
Everquest II had such an amazing language system.
Basically, the team didn't actually have to invent any language or even any scripts, and the game would constantly parody itself with comical quests for the character learning languages.
Learning Faerlie, for instance, sees the character going "Athfhh-blahthf-blahfhahfhaa?!" while the fairy teacher is going "No, no! It's afh-flah-flahahfh!"

As much as I would love to see my big jiggling bear-boobies, this is not Conan, sadly.

RE: Weapon animations based on build
It's virtually impossible to devise or implement a system where anything about your character will automatically change solely based on role (i.e. tank vs. berserker vs. mage vs. rogue vs. etc). This is because it's not feasible to mathematically compute role from a free-form build system.
Also, your system would completely screw hybrid characters (like every other MMO system already does...) As a spellthief, how do we decide if we want to "look like" a thief or a mage? Will we randomly switch back and forth between the two every time our stat balance changes to favor one or the other?
It would be much easier to simply have multiple animation sets that the player character chooses between as a vanity option, and each weapon is tagged with which animation type it uses (e.g. sword vs. mace vs. flail.)
As an aside: under no circumstances will any archer ever try to fire a longbow horizontally - at least, not while also hitting anything. You might fire a shortbow horizontally, but then that's a shortbow, and Mr. Thief will not need to hold it any particular way to reduce its visibility. Bows simply do not function properly if held at any more than a slight angle from sheerly vertical.

RE: How long ago was Elysium destroyed?
@Tuoni said in How long ago was Elysium destroyed?:
Well there is a huge difference between fantasy and non-sense genre.
Absolutely not! The latter is the most classic manifestation of the former.
All modern fantasy derives from legends built upon MacGuffins and Deus Ex Machinae which are, inherently, nonsense; to this day, fantasy work ranging from Harry Potter to My Little Pony still contains this sort of Forces of Good ass-pulling ("Gosh, good thing the Tree of Harmony decided we were Very Good Friends and - as it could apparently have done at any point in time - mystically stopped the preteen maniac from stealing all magic in Equestria through... however that worked to begin with") and remains largely divested from any sort of "believability" or, at times, even basic comprehension.
You are probably thinking of the (very modern) distinction of "low" and "high" fantasy. The former adds fantasy elements to what is otherwise presented as "the real world" (e.g. Harry Potter, Supernatural, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, The SCP Foundation), whereas the latter presents a completely alternate world strongly at odds with "the real world" from its very conception (e.g. My Little Pony, Kirby, Super Mario, most Final Fantasy settings). Of course, neither of these is inherently more "believable" than the other - all of the examples I've cited use absolutely nuts magic, and The SCP Foundation explicitly highlights how "anomalous" (i.e. nonsense) its physics- and reason-defying monsters are.
But on precisely the inverse note, please take care not to suffer the Dungeon Master's Fallacy. Every event, myth, and legend does not need to give you its full Akashic record of causes and effects on introduction to qualify itself as Good Lore and save itself from the grasp of "well that's dumb how did that happen". Obviously, if the surviving myth spoken of between the people is something like "It is said Holy Lord Bigsword yelled very very loud and cleaved the Big Evil Dragon into six Little Good Dragons", this is probably a simplification or a metaphor, or fabricated entirely, and the real events (if ever detailed) will turn out differently.

RE: An option to NOT choose a deity?
You are free to curry favor with the gods as you like, or ignore them. The game does not have a "this is your god" variable any more than it does a "this is your class" or "this is your level".

RE: Any old school Ulitma Online players here!? ( UO )
I've played Ultima Online before, but not heavily. It was neat.
I wish more MMOs would focus on environment and less on grind.

RE: Horse Breeding
I'm pretty sure Fractured will intentionally decline to have any sort of animal breeding. Simple pet taming is a stretch goal.
They seem to be going for more of a Diablo-style gameplay without that much customization beyond character equipment.

RE: I suggest to continue the Foundation program
@Tuoni said in I suggest to continue the Foundation program:
@FibS Yeah daily, week and month rewards are quite standard in many games nowadays. Especially in mobile games where players are lured log in several times in a day. I guess this is spreading more to PC gaming too.
As long as there's no "Claim this reward twice with VIP5! Just recharge $100 worth of pretend money!" system, I'm fine with the attendance reward.
However, the Foundation is not just attendance-based - it uses a community achievements system. As the game is also very achievements-based (see: how to empower spells and other specific skills), the ingame "Foundation" equivalent should be the same.
The monthly rewards system could even tie into each month's events, e.g. during the Christmas event you get bonus points towards that month's (i.e. December's) rewards for participating in the event.

RE: I suggest to continue the Foundation program
The concept of the Foundation program should be retained throughout the game's lifetime, but in a new form. It's currently a single ladder of progress.
In Elder Scrolls Online, they regularly have seasonal rewards for players who play the game. Most obviously, you get a reward for every day you log in out of the month, with a different reward schedule each month.
Basically, once the game reaches launch, there should be a Foundation-like rewards system that resets each month with different specific rewards.

@muker is albion free to play, or is it free to try on April 10?
Albion is a freemium game.EDIT: I got confused because I won a founder's pack for this game in a giveaway, so for me it was free. While it is technically possible to play any of its content without premium, I predict that you will not enjoy it very much as a single-purchase / free player compared to as a premium player.

RE: New Race Idea
A game that actually has no classes isn't a game - it's just a sandbox.
Fractured has classes, it simply does not predefine them. You create your own class as you play.

RE: Why Albion is boring and Fractured will not be ?
@chrightt said in Why Albion is boring and Fractured will not be ?:
No clue really. Maybe will be just as bad as Albion.
That won't be possible.
Albion's design forces hardcore, P2W PVP, with a heavy bias in favor of guilds, for the endgame of all tasks - even crafting.
No matter how awful Fractured hypothetically becomes, it will always have three separate planets that are all equally viable at endgame... or at least, "endgame" on Tartaros will be completely irrelevant to "endgame" on Arboreus and vice versa.

RE: Why Albion is boring and Fractured will not be ?
To put it simply: Fractured will actually be a game, whereas Albion is just a race to pay the most money, thinly disguised as a game.
It's like the difference between a firefighter who saves your life for free and a very expensive stripper dressed as most of a firefighter.

RE: Why can't Angels stay on Arboreus?
The simplest approach, assuming they design the game architecture to facilitate this, is for Abominations to be treated like Demons in any and all ways except for the ability to go Good, while Angels are treated like Beastmen in any and all ways except for the ability to go Evil.
Therefore, Abominations should be largely confined to Tartarus, and Angels should be allowed on Arboreus and harmed when visiting Tartarus.

RE: Guild Attire Rewards
@Jetah said in Guild Attire Rewards:
@FibS
it depends on how it's rewarded. Odds are a guild will have a full setup of gatherers, crafters, etc. Thus it could be possible it can unlock any type of cosmetic. The problem would be when you have a guild that focuses on a certain aspect, like crafting or just PvP combat. I'd hate to be in a guild that is focused then a guild cosmetic is released for gathering 100m resources and the guild decide it'd look great and now we'd have to start gathering. That would be solved by finding a better guild.
However, a non-cosmetic reward for guilds would force everyone into a toxic "competitive" guild or else their character would be sub-par. The consequences would be far worse than any cosmetic reward for guild participation, especially if the character reward tracked across multiple guilds.
