I hope the music isn't too ambient, really. Constant ambient music is kinda boring and sometimes it may as well not be there. : (

RE: NPC'S AGE ?
@benseine said in NPC'S AGE ?:
Aging characters might be a big feature for a small studio, but maybe add the possibility to make old and/or fat characters. To few games have that possibility, while it is fun to watch ingame. Some have a really extended character creation, but all characters are elvish looking 20year old professional foto models or something.
When you mod Elder Scrolls to have bimbo bodies, all the old lady NPCs get bimbo bodies too. It's kind of terrible

RE: NPC'S AGE ?
I doubt it.
Animals getting "older" isn't a unique feature to Fractured, there are other games with similar mechanics. It isn't there for immersion either - it has an effect on experience and loot quality.
NPC aging would just clutter up the game and in the worst case completely break immersion because every NPC couple would need to generate exactly two children to maintain the original NPCs' functions and not destabilize the world population. It would add nothing and damage a lot.

RE: Mount, mascots and special aesthetics
This is what the Foundation wolf mounts do! Sort of.
The Foundation currently says the wolf's appearance is race-based, but this is outdated the same way the race-based guilds are, and likely will be alignment-based as with the guilds.
I wouldn't be surprised if hellhounds and stuff were also alignment-locked, though on a philosophical level I think "good" players should perfectly be able to enthrall hellhounds and use them against other demons etc.

RE: Role play?
@kellewic said in Role play?:
I want to provide a counterpoint to this in that if this game is allowing Chaotic Evil as an alignment, it is immersive for those players to be killing others for no reasons but their own. I'm not saying it's my thing, but by your definition they are doing what a Chaotic Evil character would do - causing chaos and destruction for no other reason than their own selfish ones.
IRL Chaotic Evil in this context would be a serial killer. They're much like PKers - they pick and choose advantageous fights against vulnerable people and are all deluded psychos who think they have some right to do so. And just like you've mentioned, they always have very deeply personal reasons to kill their targets.
Of course, serial killers are hunted down and destroyed. PKers should be the same

RE: Will this game have features for streaming?
As long as the game shows up in OBS and XSplit just fine it has all the features it needs for streaming (and is more than I can say for most games...)

If I had a pawn that kept switching sides on me, I'd probably throw that pawn away pretty quickly.
Good thing you're not the evil god then.
- readily leaps to do you petty favors
- can be controlled once their motivation to risk their life as double-agent is found
- can be fed false information to take back to enemy
- can be fed real information to fool enemy into doing dirty work or exposing themselves
- can be given diseases, curses, bombs disguised as relics, etc. to take back to enemy
- excellent candidate for a scapegoat
-
RE: Becomming an Angel or Abommination
A fallen angel is only distinct from a demon if angels are distinct from demons to begin with. In this game they are clearly not, thus a "fallen angel" would just be a demon again.
I'm sure Tartaros would be cool with it because he would just be using his followers as pawns anyway. He would fully expect you to turn back good again at a moment's notice and make the most of you before that time.

RE: Can you be a thief?
@finland said in Can you be a thief?:
I really hope not.
Ultima Online had PvPickpocketing and it was hard as balls to do. You had to very obviously sidle up to your mark and they would be alerted most of the times you tried. If I recall, you were not able to steal equipped items.
People pickpocketed less over time because you also could not steal blessed or insured items and it became way way too easy to get those as the game went on.

The fractured but wholes are all the people complaining that they can't PK on every planet, lol

I know what i do NOT want.
I do NOT want "out of place" cosmetic circus mounts, like huge puppet kittens with giant ribbons on then, I do NOT want Teletubbie mounts, and all that sort of Korean style cosmetic crap.
I also do NOT want such costumes.
Those mounts and costumes aren't out of place - in the colorful settings of most Korean MMOs. They would be out of place in Fractured, though, outside of special events with deliberately festive outfits, and they would need to have more subdued colors to fit the render style.
I want more varied & creative mounts than horses and wolves. I don't terribly mind if the mount has wings but can't fly. I want to ride giant squirrels and kitsune and swamp dragons.

RE: I want to get excited but...
@gothix said in I want to get excited but...:
Instanced PvP is "PvP for fun". Objectives, chill, fun stuff.
Open world PvP is "PvP that carries meaning and weight".
[...]I'm so sick of this "has meaning and weight" bullcrap people puke out as the catch-all platitude for everything they want. No, it doesn't. Nothing in the game "has meaning or weight". They are all pretend video game fights for different pretend rewards and you're just pretending the particular one you want is more valuable than everyone else's.
Arena PVP ("instanced") is not magically inconsequential; I guess you haven't played a single MMO made in the last ten years, since all of them have extensive game modes, rankings, and reward systems for arena PVP and many are founded solely on arena PVP competition.
Quit the "open world PVP" euphemism for PKing. PKing is not PVP. PKing is not gameplay. PKers are not legitimate players, they are parasites just like bots, and their desires should not be considered when designing a game.
Which is why Fractured basically won't; there's nowhere in the game where PKers can succeed. Not only are characters not vastly divided by level, but PKers literally can't attack 90% of Arboreus, they can't attack without severe consequence on Syndesia, and nobody on Tartaros will be the easy target PKers need to compensate for their mean parents.
If you're going to go on about duels on Syndesia or guild wars on Tartaros, well congratulations, that's irrelevant to what we were talking about. The OP was worried about Demons invading casual players to PK easy targets and that will simply not be a sustainable pastime in Fractured, nor should it be in any game.

@phaethonas said in How many players will get invite to the pre-alpha tests?:
How many planets will be there, at pre-alpha? All? Only Syndesia to test both pvp and pve elements? None?
For prealpha??
I personally am 100% certain we will have about three flavors of GRASS BIOME that don't quite compose a planet, and will be able to play as Human only - with female if we're lucky - and do little more than swing a sword (and not anything else) and shoot a fireball (and not anything else).
At this stage they're going to be focusing on the procedural generation actually working right, as well as the basic movement engine and battle systems. I'd be pleasantly surprised if you could attack other players yet, and if the day/night cycle was implemented.
It'll basically be a stress test to see if the game implodes when more than ten players log in and all move to different areas of the world map =p

Not when one or two Beastmen can take out your entire crew in a couple seconds and you have to wait half an hour or more to try again!

@jetah said in Suggestion: Just something I always wanted. Name my sword!:
Emotes are a RP mechanic to use "/me looks around cautiously" which is displayed in chat as "Jetah looks around cautiously" is a RP mechanic! I'm pretty sure only about 1 if a few thousand non-RP people use emotes.
/me isn't what I think of when I hear "emote". Emotes are the little pictures in text: :man_golfing: :man_juggling: :man_biking_tone1:
/me began in chatrooms e.g. IRC and were retained in all chats thereafter, MMO or otherwise. They were and are not specifically an RP mechanic any more than chat itself is

RE: Suggestion: Just something I always wanted. Name my sword!
@nelchael said in Suggestion: Just something I always wanted. Name my sword!:
Well, no one said anything about realism. It's not like the concept of legendary weapons is realistic in the first place. It's more about a sense of accomplishment, of achieving something that most other players can't or won't. Also, aesthetics and bragging rights. Feeling special. You can't really get the same feeling if all it takes is a single 15-minute quest. And again, if everyone can get one, what's the point of having legendary weapons at all?
The original issue was custom named weapons, and making it difficult to achieve solves two problems: gold farmers and idiots using the naming mechanic for chat spam, and the market being saturated with stupidly named weapons.
A week or so is more than enough time to dedicate to legendarying a sword, assuming that this week was spent more or less entirely on legendarying a sword.
