    • RE: What we could craft from the glass?

Since you've mentioned sand, I take you mean silicate glass, which is most likely going to feature chiefly in building homes (windows) and furniture.

There are other "glasses" as well that are not silicate, such as malachite (copper) and obsidian, which many fantasy settings employ for weapons or armor. Elder Scrolls has been using both since Morrowind.

    • Pro tip: Blocking users hides all of their posts, forever

      Hello Fractals!

If you click on a user's name and go to their profile, you can click the ellipses in the top right corner to block them. This will prevent any of their posts from showing up on the forums ever, including in recent activity feeds. (So far as I know it will not hide posts that are replying to or quoting them.)

Expect to utilize this power frequently. It's a better idea than getting into a stupid argument over a video game.

@Manaia Why yes you did! And I'm pointing out that it's a hypocritical argument!

Wisps are every bit as common in the center as wolves are in the west and spiders are in the east. All of these biomes take up about the same amount of space on the continent.

I'm not interested in extending this segue with pedantry and excuses. Wisps were a common enemy and far more powerful than they should have been.

    • RE: Spoilers: Gameplay narrative is working for me!

@Manaia They took up a third of the alpha continent. At least one spawned with every pack of Sproutlings. They were a common enemy.

The Heartlands, by the by, were largely devoid of wolves, with the exception of occasional lone dire wolves. So were the Whispering Woods (which more than make up for this with spooders.) Are wolves "not a common enemy" because they only spawned in particular biomes?

    • RE: Spoilers: Gameplay narrative is working for me!

It bothers me a bit that we're forced to stack so much investment into magic for a very common overworld enemy, but at least it's possible for a character to take them on. Any other game, you would have to completely restart the character.

My meathead was definitely not able to handle them with her puny magic missiles. I don't know if she would have been able to handle them if I put Fire Totem et al. on her, I didn't know there were goblin shamans until near the end of the alpha. -v-

    • RE: What's your main gonna be?

@Tuoni That depends what you mean by "tanky". You can get command or shout-type spells to buff the party that are CHA-based, so Udoadra with its +3 CHA is also a suitable choice.

    • RE: Questions and observation on the lack of depth for people who like crafting to define their character

@Rigo Bound equipment is a cheap and overused "solution" that tends to simplify and undermine the MMO environment. It's a grind-based mechanic that I'm sure Fractured will want to avoid.

@Razvan I'm not basing my main on meta (which will change wildly through beta and after release), but rather on what kind of character I'd be most interested in playing.

Assuming the current affinity and stat points numbers remain true, I've already plotted out the stat build for my wuff.

    • RE: is it possible to become a hit man

The saddest thing about Ultima Online was how it died.

PK babies will try to tell you that it died "by becoming casual" (despite the fact this is always a boon to a game's objective success.) No, it was ruined because it didn't become casual. More accurately, it couldn't make up its mind what kind of game it was. UO became unfun for casual players and too fair for PK babies, so nobody liked the game.

If UO had successfully become a casual game it might still be a huge thing today, close to WoW or even Minecraft.

Back on topic, you can hypothetically be a killer for fire in just about any game, but the problem is securing the payment. Death is an inconvenience at best. Many people will just log off until you forget about them and then come back.

    • What's your main gonna be?

I played this last alpha with a... very unsuitable stat spread, and have projected that my main will most likely be an Udoadra (wolfkin) focusing on CON and CHA.

I didn't have a good time playing a mage, as I wasn't able to live long enough to unlock any spells beyond Magic Mithilth. I would probably have been much happier after acquiring a few more spells, especially the ones from Wisps. I would make a deer lady to be my mage after I figure out a roadmap to raise one up.

      @NeroulGB

The current system seems to be leaning more towards the material used both to craft and to enchant. "rare armor" would be armor made from rare materials. This was also (sort of) a feature in Ultima Online, though that did have a coherent crafting skill with recipe difficulty and such.

    • RE: My own report

@teerenis said in My own report:

When I'm in a party, my Fire Totem is attacking the Fire Totems of the other players.

Not only that, but players themselves can attack Fire Totems. I suspect they are the exact same entity as the NPC version, except their AI only targets non-players (including other Totems.)

    • RE: levels

@Xzoviac I suppose I'll have to be active until I get to 400+ then!

If I can get a ton of art commissions done or otherwise come into some fortune I might upgrade to the Eternal pack, if it's still available by then.
