    • RE: The Rising of the Shield Hero (Shield 'Class') but for Fractured

This idea needs to be retooled a bit to work properly in Fractured's setting and game mechanics; the Kirby power system works just fine for an anime or a single player game, but not for an MMO.

I think the best compromise is simply to ask that attention be paid to using shields offensively, with a possible bonus if a shield is wielded with no other weapon. The snake shield, cerberus shield, etc. should merely be kinds of shield that players can craft. No need for some magical everyshield that transforms on the fly and serves as the Infinity Gauntlet in Fornite...

    • RE: Bought the Governor pack

At any time in Fractured, free spaces can be claimed to build new towns, or ruined towns can be cleared of NPC enemies and then claimed and rebuilt. In addition, on Syndesia or Tartaros, towns can be taken from you by other players.

However, with the Governor pledge pack:

      • You will begin the game with a town.
      • You will permanently name the town. This name cannot be changed regardless of how the town changes hands.
      • A statue of you will permanently decorate the town. This statue will remain regardless of how the town changes hands.

You will not be protected from ever losing your town, but these unique boons mean you will always be known as the first one who had it.

    • RE: Higher Tier Funding Ideas

I was about to say something snarky but... I need to remember that many people have only partial information on what this game is right now, and have idealist views of how it will or can evolve, and that I used to be a kid with a wild imagination too.

Suffice to say, some of these stretch goals won't just be bonus content - they'll be fundamental changes to spheres of gameplay. "Wonders", for instance, would become the new cornerstone by which successful towns or guilds were measured and would revolutionize everything from basic game economics to siege psychology.

    • RE: Music question. . .

When the music was first released, my immediate criticism is the same as my criticism now.

Fractured touts itself as a new kind of MMO unlike those that came before, yet its main theme is incredibly normal and generic for the MMO genre. This is a colossal mistake.

I hope that the rest of the soundtrack is more interesting than this theme, which feels really phoned-in to me.

@Pluto Don't be daft! They're discontinuing the Pledges anyway, so why not put them on sale and see if it attracts any new purchases that were put off by the previous pricing? You know, just like every single store in the history of humanity always does when they're discontinuing a product.

the only games there aren't any bots in are the ones with no trading.

ESO is extremely bot-free. This is because it's such a fucking pain to make money in that game that bot networks just go to another more profitable game.

Also, there are a limited number of predetermined spots that large-scale trading can be done, making it easy to spot bots when they try to take them up.

@deusex2 said in Race Evolutions Sugestion.:

Not gonna like-I really like the idea of racial evolution... Especially such a drastic one like demons have.

But that's just for the good guys, and what about those trully diabolical ones? Can the trully diabolical ones evolve to become even worse? Some demons may decide that it's better to reign in Hell, than to serve in Heaven. So why not have an evolution option for those REALLY evil ones, where they become archdemons, or devils?

And why not make the same for beastmen, as well? Abomination for evil ones and...I dunno a treant, or a driad for the holly ones?

Honestly, the whole idea of evolution is an interesting one and I'd love to see it expanded, in due time.

The purpose of the transformations seen thus far is to provide the opportunity for "good Demons" and "evil Beastmen" who are otherwise mechanically and canonically coerced into evil and good roles respectively.

There's also Lich, but I don't understand the exact effects of it upon a Human character, and it was also a stretch goal (i.e. not considered vital to the base game content like Angel and Abomination are.)

There's no clear purpose to having super Demons and super Beastmen, and this would lead to a feature creep of "but wait, what about mega Humans?!" and so forth and so on.

    • RE: Dont forget the RPG

The game has quests - they are simply not structured traditionally.

Quests are formatted like achievements, in that you perform certain tasks to improve your character skills or curry favor with the gods. You don't need to do anything other than acquire that trait or skill to start said quest.

I don't believe Fractured will even have a coherent NPC presence, let alone a turn-in style quest system.

You could try reading the post you responded to, since I expected to need to explain what I meant and promptly did so, and all.

I'm not interested in debating the nature of Albion Online, however. It's a fraud of a game and no amount of apologist mental gynmastics will change that.

      These are obviously lootboxes.

I do not believe you will be able to use the metaphorical empty box as an actual empty box to decorate the house, but it would be an interesting change of pace if you could.

    • RE: Let's borrow some ideas from other games!

@Tuoni said in Let's borrow some ideas from other games!:

I did not play UO back then so I am not familiar with all the mechanics, but this "bless" was feature which prevented some items to drop?

In Ultima Online, when a character dies, their ghost spawns at the spot and the majority of their currently-held items (which includes gold pieces) drops to the corpse. They have to find a healer NPC or other means to revive with a new body, return to their corpse, and retrieve their items before the corpse decays or they are looted.

However, an item that is marked as Blessed does not drop to the corpse, and will be with the character when they revive. Blessed is a permanent effect once applied.

The spellbooks of mages and paladins are always Blessed, and some rare / artifact weapons are always Blessed too, but otherwise it was extremely rare to find a scroll that would permanently apply Blessed to an item.

When Ultima Online attempted to become a less "hardcore" game, they added an Insurance system where any item could be Insured. This caused the item to be treated as Blessed for the next death, for the cost of gold coins. This effectively rendered the corpse-drop mechanic null and void.

I actually presumed, that Fractured has total full loot if player kills another. Only some portion of loot will be trashed in process and removed from the game. I was also wondering how mobs and animals will actually act against players? Just knocking players down or actually killing and make them drop all loot? Or does only "lethal" (more dangerous ones) mobs kill players?

I believe the developers said that most PvE enemies, such as wild animals, will only KO the player. All PvE enemies of Arboreus had this behavior.

    • RE: What albion did wrong- not a bash thread

In my experience with Albion, I found it to be a fake game. It's a clever trap that separates players into two groups, deriving from asymmetrical gameplay (which is normally stuff like "one player is the monster and everybody else is the survivors".)

The richest 10% of players, who are the most willing to pay to win, are the only players that really matter. The game is designed so that all "high-level" play requires PVP and is therefore subject to pay to win, thus drawing whales as the primary desired demographic.

The other 90% of players are not actually players. They're just like the foxes and the ores - sources of materials, elements to enrich the experience for the elite.

Many PC or console MMOs have ascribed to a similar elitist model, and it has not helped the long-standing criticism against the genre.

Even without the elitist system, we still have the problem that Albion is linearly designed - all "endgame" content is necessarily open world PVP. Fractured will not have this flaw.

    • RE: Let's borrow some ideas from other games!

Ultima Online's "items drop to corpse" system might work for this style of game - at least, for PVP kills.

Note that in old Ultima, there was no insurance system. It was very rare to get a scroll to "bless" an item that would follow the player's spirit after death. Also, if the player was a paladin or mage, their spellbook was Blessed automatically.
