    • Increase of isometric perspectives games

I haven’t been looking at many games lately. I know blocky pixel designed games were being put out constantly. It seems like the isometric 3rd person overview games are coming back too. In addition to this there is Albion Online, Pillars/Divinity etc.
      What do you think?
What’s the best game you have played with this design?

    • RE: Feature Spotlight #7 - Towns, Governors & Politics

The option for solo is a bonus for me. I am curious about the amount of damage a player's home suffers when raided.
"Building a home in a free area guarantees total freedom, but also comes with some risk (if on Syndesia or Tartaros). While player buildings can’t be destroyed and cultivations can’t be pillaged by strangers, players with malicious intent can still enter claimed lots, which lack the partial protection from crime granted by guards in town (or the total protection offered by a Good-aligned town on Syndesia)."
Other players can enter, but will they be able to do anything? Loot contents of storage? Take furniture/items? Steal your prize-winning pig?

Becuase I was burned big time by this:
      https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-35356147
It's always a great feeling to have your Kickstarter featured in the news for being a huge failure. Ever since, I haven't do any Kickstarter or crowd funding.
I have done some early access, but mostly have regretted that as well - Shroud of Avatar, Planet Explorer, TUG... I guess I have a really bad instinct about funding a game.

    • Why MMO if you like to Solo?

Curious about those who like to solo games, but still want to be in an MMO. I fluctuate between hating people and being helpful in a guild, multiplayer, typesetting.
Is it the option to group with people a draw?
Is it the diversity you can get by grouping (forced or otherwise) that still makes you want to MMO despite instinct to solo?

    • RE: Survival & Travel Q&A - Full Recording & Recap

You guys have been really killing it on getting the word out on social media. I don't know why some game devs suck so much at this. I'd invest in a bit more like a set with a bunch of images or a monitor with video playback on a loop. Obviously post production not an option here. Also, think about a two-person format. Where you Q&A back and forth... this will also help you keep focused and alleviate some of the hesitations in the discussion. Basically a moderator. Otherwise looking forward to more.

Got burned too many times by Kickstarter. Anyone have one of their Kickstarters featured on BBC news because of the vast scale of fail involved by the guys that did the KS? I have and since then, been very reluctant to ever do a KS again.

    • RE: Becoming a god?

Skyforge does something like a godmode - they call it Devine form - it's basically a nuke setting on a timer. Graphics are different and feel more powerful and appearance changes. It's on a timer setting. They also use a Pantheon concept where you get more followers for boosts - followers are added by obtaining XP/Points for each quest completed.

    • RE: Vassal System

It's definitely a pyramid scheme. But one that adds some drama as well. If your lord is being unresponsive, you can take your chain of vassals and pledge them to someone else. Or you could have your vassals abandon you for a person that is more engaged. The type of reward would really depend on the game mechanics in place. XP, Currency, Boosts, ect.
Neverwinter and a few other games have alliance systems. Those allow for greater guild features and guild oriented events. But not the same as a vassal system.

    • Vassal System

I used to play Asheron's Call 2. And while it wasn't the perfect MMO, it had some unique concepts that I haven't seen in a game since. Maybe I haven't been playing the right game - so maybe a vassal system does exist.
      What is a Vassal System?
A player is recruited to a Guild. That player becomes the recruiting player's vassal and passes on XP or something else of value (guild points). From there it scales like a pyramid. So the original player becomes connected to the XP sent up from all those below him in the chain. AC2 added the option of pledging the block of vassals to another person and automatically transferring all those vassals below to the new lord. It incentivized Guilds to be stronger and keep their membership engaged.
What do you guys think? Seen any games doing this? Would this work in Fracture?

    • Seeing the stumbling releases lately like Crowfall and Shroud of the Avatar making me nervous

The game industry should be a mature business structure with disciplined, test approaches, right? I mean it's no longer a nascent work area. Yet games like Crowfall and Shroud of the Avatar (insert other examples) are really letting down their supporters and having to scale back, adjust or completely remove features. Why isn't the minimum viable product established and prioritized to have the rest of the features added with new releases? Is there really that big a pressure to deliver one big blob of gaming goodness in one go?
