    • RE: Feature Spotlight - New Continent

@Tuoni One of the things you may have missed in previous articles is that the game is in need of some Gold Sinks. Travel, like to other Continents/Worlds is one of the planned Gold Sinks to keep Gold relevant in Fractured.

It has been argued back and forth about how they maintain the valuation of Gold when there aren't enough gold sinks in the system to create a pressing need. Like in any market, you create value by rarifying some items on the market itself. If you have to pay a substantial gold price to move certain materials from one Continent/World to another in order to complete certain craft recipes, the results of said recipes will thus have a far greater value to compensate for the cost to attain/gather and thus it will stimulate and help maintain the Player Driven Economy that is a cornerstone of Fractured's design.

    • RE: Closed Beta Starts Soon!

@xGRAVExDANCERx There hasn't been a Beta yet. If you played in the last test without purchase, that was an Open Alpha, or you had a gift Code to get in. That code/open-invite was only good for that Test. In order to gain continued access to the Beta Testing phase of Fractured, you will need to buy a Founder's Pack, or get awarded a different Access Code through a contest or Content Partner program.

    • RE: Glyph and Re-downloading Fractured?

      @TekNicTerror and you're not understanding @StormBug

She's saying if she doesn't have to redownload the game, then she won't delete her current install of the game before defragmenting her drive. However, if it is going to need to be redownloaded anyway, not just patched, then she might as well delete it and remove it from her system prior to defragmenting her drive, so she has a cleaner system for when she does need to redownload the game for Glyph. She hasn't deleted the files yet, she's trying to see whether she should or not.

    • RE: Mechanics for Environmental effects Discussion.

@OlivePit It actually makes sense, in a magical world, that certain creatures would be immune to, or even regenerated by certain attack types.

Example: A fire elemental should actually be healed/strengthened when attacked by fire...or at minimum, impossible to damage with a fire-based attack.

This is often how they are reflected in fantasy literature. Conversely, they should be vulnerable to another type of attack, like our Fire Elemental taking extra damage stacks from Water/Ice based attack forms.

    • RE: Developer Forum Access?

@Raza Contact @Prometheus or @Spectre or @Arcahem or one of the new Gamigo reps that have introduced themselves and one of them should be able to either grant access, or get your case to the right person to grant it.

@wood210 actually, what they said was:

"We will reveal more details early next week," as I just reread the post, and the Feature Spotlight would constitute "more details"

    • RE: [Game Master] Lord Skykal descends from heaven.

@StormBug Interesting, sister mine...are you in fact sure this is an Angel? Not merely a demon with different features. I must check my tomes shuffles off towards his enchanting lab, mumbling to himself about angels and demons and other minutia

    • RE: Get ready for Closed Beta!

@DarthJafo I don't remember why, but they explained their reasoning once about that. I think they said something about it being better for more people, or had something to do with the initial server load, like I said, I don't remember the reasoning, but they did say that was intentional at one time.

    • RE: Get ready for Closed Beta!

@DarthJafo They have a tendency to like to launch tests mid-week, instead of on weekends, so I would expect the launch announcement to come around the weekend, maybe, if it's going to launch next Tuesday or Wednesday, although they may give us more notice than that.

    • RE: Any people here also here to try out farming mechanics?

@Jazzysunshine My girlfriend, Sophia_Starr was sold on fractured because I told her about the farming. She loves fighting as a Sorceress in D&D, but she also loves her farming/gathering games.

Me, I'm our family enchanter. I love my spell casters in combat, but I also love to enchant gear for my family/guild. My sister, however, is our Tank and my fellow builder. She loves to play melee fighters in heavy armor, but we both love to build houses and cities as well. The three of us make a well rounded little guild.

    • RE: Developer Forum Access?

@FatherAbsinthe Developer's forum access is not automatic. After you make the purchase, you have to message Prometheus or one of the Community Managers to get them to give you access. There may also be delays because of the migration now, just as a heads up.

They don't have a way to make it auto-toggle you into the Dev Forums as of yet.

    • RE: Will Fractured reset when the Beta is over?

The Devs have been very up front and honest about doing resets after each testing phase. It has been clear from the very beginning that once the game goes live, you would have to start over in game, so that everyone playing is on the same page.

    • RE: Housing Thoughts

      @spoletta I second this!

I think housing spots near popular mob spawns will just promote mob camping mentalities. Housing should be in relatively safe zones, not mob areas. Closer to towns, or at least within a town's overarching sphere of control makes more sense. Sure, you might have a few hartier souls wanting to be a little out on the edges of controlled lands, but let's not settle in the wilds.

I also agree with Olive Pit's assessment on taxation and how they are doing it now makes a whole lot more sense. Let the game set the tax rate for residential areas and the Governor can set things inside city limits, as well as setting up the access levels for city sponsored crafting venues.

    • RE: Lost equipment

@Leponex I wouldn't call it hard. Loss of equipment on death is pretty much an industry standard, afterall. Looting is by alignment, with only Evil worrying about full looting. It is also a 100% player driven economy, so no worries about getting groups together for major raids to get the best equipment. Even a moderate group can take on the Legends that hold the rarest of reagents, so everyone is pretty much on an even standing.

    • RE: Lost equipment

@Leponex Your equipment stays with your body when you die. Depending on your Alignment, a PvPer who killed you can loot some or all of your equipment from the body, but you do have to retrieve what's left from your corpse to get it back.

You can also set your body so it is lootable by your party members so if they have the storage, they can retrieve some or all of your items not lost to PvP or degraded. Remember, all items also have a durability score, and this cannot be repaired. Durability equals 0 and the item disappears.

    • RE: Can I play on Mac?

The game is buy to play, with a Subscription VIP service.

As to MAC, they said really early on that Alpha and Beta would not be on MAC but that once the game fully releases you should be able to play on MAC systems. You just cannot playtest, which is where the game is, right now.

    • RE: Housing Thoughts

@Vortech Maybe you weren't here for it, but there has been a rather vocal outcry for more residences further away from cities. Since all residences are connected to city tech trees, solo'ists can't just make their little oasis in the midst of danger they always want, but further from town plots meet this need half-way. Not so far from town as to not be connected to their tech trees, but not so close as to feel like your just part of that town's suburbs.

People want to make roadside inns and hunting cabins and such and try to be totally divorced from towns as much as possible...some people anyway. Different play styles for different players afterall, and Fractured is trying to cater to as diverse an audience as possible while keeping to their core values.
