    • RE: Community Call - YouTubers You Know

Have you considered reaching out to TheLazyPeon on YouTube? He does all kinds of MMO videos and has even spent a good deal of time hyping up Ashes of Creation which is very early on as well. So it seems right in his wheelhouse? Worth a shot.

Very popular guy that does a stunning job of getting the word out about MMO titles. Though I haven't the slightest clue if you could get someone that popular to boost your Kickstarter... but still. It's an idea?

    • RE: Unity has blocked SpatialOS - What's up and what it means for us

I am shocked that they would do this. There have been multiple projects over the years announcing that they would use the same or similar solutions that likely won't be able to now. What?!

I hope you guys can figure something out nice and quick. Out of curiosity are there any other engines you could consider using? I'm aware that would cause massive delays, but in a worst case scenario is that at least possible? 😞

    • RE: Optional wasd movement?

There are plenty of isometric games that use WASD. Saying it's "awkward and won't make sense" doesn't really explain their reasoning for it at all unfortunately. Leaves a lot on the table.

    • RE: Limited/rare items?

I like the idea of having especially rare items that only a few are likely to obtain. Even if I don't have them it helps the world feel more alive in a sense. As it is variety in the form of unusual and exotic things.

    • RE: Unity has blocked SpatialOS - What's up and what it means for us

Trying to bring as much awareness as I can to this in my gaming circles. Hoping that if enough attention is brought to this issue the developers of the Unity engine will re-evaluate their decision all that much faster.

If they don't.. there's other reasonably-ish priced engines such as UE4. They've got SpatialOS support far as I can tell. They aren't exactly geared for an MMO out of the box, but the engine is quite robust in theory. Having the potential to work in a player dense online title. Could be worth poking around in to gauge the viability of it. Never hurts to have a backup plan, yeah?

Arguably it is even easier to work with than Unity in my opinion. This is of course not accounting for the legwork needed to make it function for large scale online only enviornments.. but yeah. It's something.

    • Optional wasd movement?

I see there were a few old questions asking if this game would be click to move or WASD movement. Problem is many of the ones I noticed when searching appeared to be quite out of date.

So I figured I'd try my luck. Is there any hopes of the game supporting WASD movement in addition to click to move? I've played many games out there and I have to say that in my case WASD flows much better. Feels far less awkward to control. Legends of Aria for example allows me to use WASD. Movement feels fluid and just plain nice. Meanwhile games like Path of Exile enforce click to move. Which to me leads to an awkward tough to utilize method of getting from point A to B.

In Path of Exile I find myself fighting with the games movement system more then I do anything else. While the game is downright amazing and gets stellar reviews on a regular basis it still feels wrong in that one regard. When I'm battling a monster in a game I don't want to also be fighting with the title to complete an action.

Who knows. Maybe my limited experience in click to move titles is to blame here. I've played my fair share, but at the same time I know there is an ocean of games I haven't touched with that type of system. Which for all I know could do be doing it just as well as you guys will. Hell, maybe you've all got a trick up your sleeve to make it feel even more fluid. Suppose I don't really know! All I do know is I like having more options.

    • RE: Will Animation Cancelling become a combat mechanic one day?

@gothix said in Will Animation Cancelling become a combat mechanic one day?:

I'd prefer not to have it, and also to have forced global cool down on every spell.

In this way game becomes not only about who can mash his buttons faster in right order, but also puts more weight on general tactics and combat thinking.

^ this. Please let it be like this.

I hate animation cancelling in games almost all of the time. It ends up feeling horrible, and as if I have to abuse an exploit to be on par with other players (which is literally the case in some games).

    • RE: Post Kickstarter Funding is Going Well

Huh. Kinda surprised it's going up as fast as it is. Considering they haven't really pushed for much in the way of advertising or showing off a whole lot yet. Betting it'll really pick up steam once they have something really neat to let people see. 🙂

    • RE: What's your motivation for your pledge pack?
      • To support a type of game I like - I can only name a select few that are similar and none of them got it right in my opinion. This game sounds like it is on the right track.

      • Because fancy stuff - who can say no to all the perks they include? It isn't anything seemingly P2W, but it is some pretty neat stuff.

      @DravenRayne

Same. I wholeheartedly disagree with how Gamigo handles titles they publish. Enough so that I simply refuse to play any game they are involved with.

    • RE: Cross-gender playing

I find some of the explanations as to why some people here play the opposite gender to be confusing to me. I just go with what works for that character. I can't bring myself to be connecting sexual reasons to it. Not my bag. To each their own of course. I know a lot of games out there make money by appealing to that very audience (look at the old tomb raider games for an oldschool example. It's always been like that).

If anything I find myself playing female characters simply because I feel like more work is often put into them. Whereas the male ones look awkward or take up too much screen space by comparison.

    • RE: The Fractured Kickstarter Campaign Is Live!

@logain Yeah.. the slow pace took me by surprise too. I think theres a few elements at play though. Most of which don't seem to be from a lack of interest at least.

I just hope the game gets made, and a successful Kickstarter would definitely help them I imagine. Both in revenue and getting the word out.

    • RE: Haven't pledged? Want to upgrade, but not sure yet? Tell us why!

If I'm gonna be honest the rewards don't seem proportionate with what people in the US pay. At least to me. While stuff like the immortal pack is tempting - $350+ for early bird only serves to immediately makes me look towards more basic offerings. And I can only imagine how quickly it may unfortunately turn away newcomers entirely.

Meanwhile other games I backed in the past offered me a ton more bang for my buck. I don't know, I want the game to be made and all that. It sounds perfect for what I'm after. I just feel as though the kickstarter stuff is a bit off is all.

Still really enjoying this setup. It's a very unique way to attempt getting people to interact more often about the game.

Not overly detailed, but definitely not lacking either. Betting those will look great from the normal camera view. 🙂

    • RE: Bit worried where the Kickstarter is

I was a little concerned by how fast it plateaued. Have to see how it goes, but currently I'm very worried about it.

The low section of this projection seems spot on currently http://www.kicktraq.com/projects/dymstudios/fractured-the-dynamic-mmo/#chart-exp-projection

Maybe they need to hype it up more? Get more videos and updates of some sort out? I know regular activity on a kickstarter generally results in noticeable upward trends.

Happy to see that content pills have made their way back into rotation again. Nice getting a peek at what's upcoming for Fractured.

Kinda liking the unusual goblin designs too. Digging that they don't look anything like the typical styles for those. In my opinion that is a very good thing.

Certainly can't hurt. People interested in the game chatting more on social media might have garner a bit more attention for Fractured. Neat.
