Wooo! It's finally back
Seriously, I didn't realize how often I was on these forums until they went down.

RE: Unity has blocked SpatialOS - What's up and what it means for us
@daegalus Almost looks like their was a dispute and they didn't come to an agreement on it. So now both are out to make the other look bad. Probably a weird power move from potentially both sides hoping to get a better deal or something crazy like that?
That or one party involved did something dumb and now we are getting to watch them both go at it like children on the playground. Bleh.
I don't know. I hope I'm wrong on both my crazy guesses.

RE: Unity has blocked SpatialOS - What's up and what it means for us
Trying to bring as much awareness as I can to this in my gaming circles. Hoping that if enough attention is brought to this issue the developers of the Unity engine will re-evaluate their decision all that much faster.
If they don't.. there's other reasonably-ish priced engines such as UE4. They've got SpatialOS support far as I can tell. They aren't exactly geared for an MMO out of the box, but the engine is quite robust in theory. Having the potential to work in a player dense online title. Could be worth poking around in to gauge the viability of it. Never hurts to have a backup plan, yeah?
Arguably it is even easier to work with than Unity in my opinion. This is of course not accounting for the legwork needed to make it function for large scale online only enviornments.. but yeah. It's something.

RE: Unity has blocked SpatialOS - What's up and what it means for us
I am shocked that they would do this. There have been multiple projects over the years announcing that they would use the same or similar solutions that likely won't be able to now. What?!
I hope you guys can figure something out nice and quick. Out of curiosity are there any other engines you could consider using? I'm aware that would cause massive delays, but in a worst case scenario is that at least possible?

RE: What's your motivation for your pledge pack?

To support a type of game I like - I can only name a select few that are similar and none of them got it right in my opinion. This game sounds like it is on the right track.

Because fancy stuff - who can say no to all the perks they include? It isn't anything seemingly P2W, but it is some pretty neat stuff.

RE: Anyone else dying to know how Pre-Alpha testing is going?

Unless its going terribly and everything is on fire I don't wana know about it.
Yes, that's my stance. Pre-alpha is not something that's pleasant to look at, or has much anything to look at.
Plus, I hold on to the belief that the more patched the game is, the better it is, so my patience is not being particularly tested. (And I don't have time to play at this time, too.)
Agreed. I don't have the time to devote to volunteer testing. Besides we're definitely better off just waiting until things are in a more stable state like you mentioned.
..then again if I ever got a chance I'd gladly jump into it despite what I said. Really miss doing QA work on games. Find it absurdly fun. xD

RE: What will be you main intention in the game ?
PvP mixed in with a healthy dose of PvE. I'm a fan of both.
Speaking of.. which is why I hope there won't be stats that are exclusive to one. Always make it near impossible without making games overly tedious for me. WoW for example ruined the game with it's first expansion for people like me with their PvP stats. It forced me to carry two sets of gear as opposed to one. Then constantly switch them out. Noooot fun at all.

Not overly detailed, but definitely not lacking either. Betting those will look great from the normal camera view.

RE: Post Kickstarter Funding is Going Well
Had to check on it again. Going up a lot faster then I thought it would.
Keep it going people! More money doesn't necessarily mean a better project, but it certainly can help it become a reality.

Awesome!
Really happy to hear testing is ramping up

RE: curious on thoughts for game
The whole gear and ability system just sounds so much better then what other games have had. I know I've said that countless times already, but yeah. That's the main thing I'm looking forward to from this game. The rest is extra ontop of that fun sounding system.

RE: Preventing Bots in Arboreus
Seen this discussion on nearly every game I have played. My personal favorite would be to aim for having an analytics based anti-cheat. Something that watches player behavior for patterns only bots exhibit. It's the only route that cannot be easily bypassed. However it is also an option that would likely take time to catch each one it finds. As it'd have to get adequate data on that accounts actions.
Fairfight is a curious example of this used for FPS games.

RE: Post Kickstarter Funding is Going Well
Huh. Kinda surprised it's going up as fast as it is. Considering they haven't really pushed for much in the way of advertising or showing off a whole lot yet. Betting it'll really pick up steam once they have something really neat to let people see.

RE: System controlled caravans.
@mae said in System controlled caravans.:
This was already mentioned by devs somewhere, that caravans will starts from random points at random times.
I understand this may not align with the whole sandbox idea, but leaving everything in player hands is a bad idea too. I don't want total anarchy, monopoly or dictatorship. My point is, don't let people run wild cuz it will just break the game for others.
I absolutely love the idea of caravans as a MINIGAME. Not necessarily player resources, escort missions, even if no playerkillers attack, we can have disasters, monster attacks, etc. This a thousand times over. Definitely needs some way for the random player to engage in it. Not be locked down completely by X or Y zerg guild.
I'm all for NPC caravan type setups. Even if that means the loot would be significantly worse. It'd help the world feel more alive too. Having NPC's wander about doing tasks players could just helps feed into it being a living world where things are happening. As opposed to a bland map created for a specific purpose.

RE: Mail & COD
Letting things be sent without any risk to the buyer or seller isn't good if you ask me. Everything we know about the game so far is risk v reward. The singular element is the driving force behind ones actions. Taking that away from one aspect may make other choices not worth it. Why would anyone dare take a caravan of some sort to send items if there is no real reason to? It's a risk that has absolutely no benefit if C.O.D. is available. Then that's not even considering the potential for abuse as storage. Why leave an item somewhere where it can be stolen? Leave it in the mail instead and retrieve it later.
It's just too easily abused, and seems to go against the very core of the games design?

Grats everyone!
Still really enjoying this setup. It's a very unique way to attempt getting people to interact more often about the game.

RE: This game will be p2w?
@gothix said in This game will be p2w?:
@crowdac said in This game will be p2w?:
I don't see anything here that is P2W, Fractured VIP, from what I see, is P4C (Pay for Convenience).
It would be P2W if R3 spells were same as R1 versions but offered more fire power and lesser cool downs.
But devs said they are making R1, R2 and R3 as different spells, and not more powerful spells, so this is a good thing.Indeed. It doesn't really offer any kind of tangible advantage over a player without it. In theory at least, it'll just be providing a shortcut to alternatives for those of whom do not wish to take as long getting there. At least that's my perception of how they've explained it so far.
Super reasonable compared to most games with premium. Most these days seem to opt for something you are borderline forced to have or else you aren't going to be having fun. You'll instead spend your time trying to work around an endless sea of intentional roadblocks. So I can see why people are apprehensive of Fractured's monetization. Though nothing I've seen so far has raised any alarm bells for me.
