    • What if you had to choose one announced feature to drop?

Kinda curious to see what people consider the least important. there's always something in a game you won't like or feel like shouldn't be a part of it for one reason or another.

I know there have been things in other games I wish they scrapped. So how about so far out of what they announced for Fractured? Anything that just comes across as not being fun or just not good enough for some reason?

I must admit that this is one of the first times I ever cared enough about a flaggiing system to read it all the way through. All kinds of excited to see it in action some day. I'm rather hopefully it'll be the right mix MMO's and the likes have been missing.

    • RE: The Fractured Kickstarter Campaign Is Live!

@logain Yeah.. the slow pace took me by surprise too. I think theres a few elements at play though. Most of which don't seem to be from a lack of interest at least.

I just hope the game gets made, and a successful Kickstarter would definitely help them I imagine. Both in revenue and getting the word out.

    • RE: Haven't pledged? Want to upgrade, but not sure yet? Tell us why!

If I'm gonna be honest the rewards don't seem proportionate with what people in the US pay. At least to me. While stuff like the immortal pack is tempting - $350+ for early bird only serves to immediately makes me look towards more basic offerings. And I can only imagine how quickly it may unfortunately turn away newcomers entirely.

Meanwhile other games I backed in the past offered me a ton more bang for my buck. I don't know, I want the game to be made and all that. It sounds perfect for what I'm after. I just feel as though the kickstarter stuff is a bit off is all.

@prometheus I have to say that I respect that kind of honesty. Disappointing things played out differently. Yet totally understandable that it kinda had to.

Something about that ability bar looks weird to me. I think it's all the empty space they have going on with it.

    • RE: Optional wasd movement?

There are plenty of isometric games that use WASD. Saying it's "awkward and won't make sense" doesn't really explain their reasoning for it at all unfortunately. Leaves a lot on the table.

    • Optional wasd movement?

I see there were a few old questions asking if this game would be click to move or WASD movement. Problem is many of the ones I noticed when searching appeared to be quite out of date.

So I figured I'd try my luck. Is there any hopes of the game supporting WASD movement in addition to click to move? I've played many games out there and I have to say that in my case WASD flows much better. Feels far less awkward to control. Legends of Aria for example allows me to use WASD. Movement feels fluid and just plain nice. Meanwhile games like Path of Exile enforce click to move. Which to me leads to an awkward tough to utilize method of getting from point A to B.

In Path of Exile I find myself fighting with the games movement system more then I do anything else. While the game is downright amazing and gets stellar reviews on a regular basis it still feels wrong in that one regard. When I'm battling a monster in a game I don't want to also be fighting with the title to complete an action.

Who knows. Maybe my limited experience in click to move titles is to blame here. I've played my fair share, but at the same time I know there is an ocean of games I haven't touched with that type of system. Which for all I know could do be doing it just as well as you guys will. Hell, maybe you've all got a trick up your sleeve to make it feel even more fluid. Suppose I don't really know! All I do know is I like having more options.

    • RE: What mistakes Albion Online has made and what the Fractured devs should avoid.

I really feel like #2 is the most important out of the lot here.

Allowing for large groups to effectively smother any hope of smaller groups from doing much of anything is a quick way to ruin fun. Many people prefer to play games with just a couple of friends. Zerg guilds (large invite-all-the-things guilds) are often seen as "bad" by the common player in titles. Then there's always the fact that many like to do things on their own once in a while in an online title. You don't ALWAYS want to be forced into grouping.

I feel like Albion Online completely missed that mark. You feel worthless the majority of your time in Albion Online. Same goes for small groups. You just aren't going to make a dent or even hope to keep pace with what large guilds can do. So whats that leave you with? Join them and be a lowly peon to help feed that bloated behemoth or rot alone. Neither are fun. Games should be fun. So.. you know.. that's kinda a problem if things aren't fun for the most common ways of playing.

That said I do feel grouping should be important. What I don't think is it should always be necessary to be part of a zerg in order to play.

    • RE: What will be

Hearing that is rather reassuring. Especially the bit about horizontal progression. I have seen some very top-heavy gear systems absolutely run games into the ground. To me somewhat horizontal systems seem to wind up working the best, even if there is a grind to get to that point.

Anyway, I had a similar question and just wanted to say thanks for answering it! 🙂

    • RE: Combat? Action-ey perhaps?

@frost very true! It could wind up being fun regardless. Gotta wait and see. I think I'm just worn out on mouse movement after playing too much PoE. Kinda my own fault.

    • RE: Combat? Action-ey perhaps?

Bit of a shame. Already have a few games I play frequently that have that type of movement. Getting rather tired of the same thing over and again. Just feels awkward to me these days when there are options that feel so much more fluid. Of course this is all opinion. Maybe this game just won't be my kind of thing if this is true.

Shows you have a strong foundation in mind for where to go with your game. I like that, a lot.

    • RE: Are you a PVP or PVE player?

Both. So long as the game does not force a separation. What I mean by this is, a forced PvP stat, unique skills to PvP only, etc. I don't like needing to re-grind to PvP or learn a whole new set of skills for a class I enjoy. That just isn't fun and never has been to me. I get why a lot of MMO games do it.. but that doesn't make it enjoyable.

    • Combat? Action-ey perhaps?

Curious to know if this will follow a more traditional style of MMO combat, or something more unusual. After playing MxM or "Master X Master" I really started to enjoy the type of combat that game has. While not an MMO the isometric view and other mechanics it has lend themselves to something akin to one (at least in my mind I view MOBA games as such).

In-fact I had completely forgotten how smooth and easy those controls feel. They just plain work instead of making me feel like I'm fighting an uphill battle with the games combat system. Instead it does what I want without a second thought and I'm left to focus on the game.

Any hope of a WASD type movement with mouse aim?

    • RE: Will the game be multiplatform?

I'm in the opposite camp. Multi-platform in my gaming experience has always resulted in some sort of loss for one party or another. One version of the game winds up getting the short end of the stick because it is a royal pain to maintain multiple branches of code with drastic differences. So instead titles end up being cut back to keep things maintainable.

Of course if the devs are going to support it then so be it. Maybe they can make it work. Some developers have done a great job with multi-platform titles. I just feel it is quite rare.
