Congrats on securing the additional funding! I am intrigued at watching the continued development and the checking out the Winter Alpha.

    • RE: Bartle's Taxonomy and this game.

@Zori sorry totally disagree with you. Games are played for for the purpose of HAVING FUN. When I decide to invest a few of my precious hours to diving into playing all I want is to have fun. I don't WANT to 'learn' things. I just want to be immersed in a world that is different from the one I am stuck living my RL in. I want to run around in and explore a different world, do things I can't do in RL, and possibly be a freaking hero! Nice social interaction with in game friends is also a bonus, but not mandatory.
As for all the 'science' behind the game, that's great for the devs if it facilitates their ability to deliver a product that fulfils the promise of being fun.
The only box a game has to check for me is am I having fun.

    • RE: Feature Spotlight - Three Races, Three Gameplays

@spoletta so instead of giving us something new Gamigo is going to have one of their marketing weasels reword @Prometheus original articles? Perfect

Also you can already tell that Gamigo's 'new coat of paint' silences @Prometheus voice and passion for the project from the spotlight. Too bad really.

Changes to the website. Pausing the Foundation. Blah blah blah

The Fractured we all signed up for is dead and gone. Lost when the devs decided it would be a good idea to hand over the reins to Gamigo.

It is unclear to me why everyone thinks this is such a great thing

@grofire The promise (at least as I understood it) was for a game that would allow me to explore a huge open world that I could explore as I liked. I had fully planned on playing on Arboria as PVP doesn't interest me that much. It was a small studio that was very responsive to the community. As I recall (again could be wrong) there was going to be no early access and no Steam release as the devs knew this would be harmful for the game. The game started to move too far into survival for my tastes but that was probabaly the intent all along which is fine. Since them I have watched the game move away from its original intent until finally in an effort to secure funds it fell into bed with well you know. Now it's just a hot mess.

I feel like now I am watching the process of how to ruin a game rather than how to develop one, but like a wreck on the side of the motorway, I can't look away.

    • RE: The Potential City Problem.

I guess the real questions is will one PC NEED all available resources. Also if one city controls a resource don't you think they will engage in trade? You need the resource I have, I need the one you have. We trade for it.

When you choose to live in one place you frequently don't have ready access to everything in your city.

I don't see how this is a problem.

    • RE: Get ready for Closed Beta!

No need to speculate, this information was made available back in December 2021..

      • Dynamight will retain ownership of the game and the IP- 205s - Have you reviewed the contract? then you do not know this.
      • Dynamight did not relinquish creative control - Second video 426s - When you get yourself a Sugar Daddy you need to make them happy. Although on paper DS retains ownership and control when the Sugar Daddy says do this or do that there is a pretty good chance it is going to get done.
      • Gamigo secured global distribution rights, they earn a portion of the profits from revenue - 432s & 3286s
      • Upon a contract exit, Dynamight will retain full ownership of - 488s - Sure but by the time Gamigo is done with Fractured what will DS have control of exactly? Probably a hot mess of garbage
      • Gamigo is not here to change the vision of Fractured - 1323s. In many ways it feels like the vison has ALREADY changed. DS went into this project with a passion to make the game they wanted to play and the rest of us tagged along. Now Gamigo comes along. What is their vision? Oh here's a game we can pillage like we have done with so many others.
      • Dynamight retains creative control, IP, and monetization - 322s - Right up until the Sugar Daddy 'suggests' a few changes

It's a mutually beneficial partnership. I suggest folks watch the two videos in their entirety.. Questions were repetitive, but representatives from both sides made it pretty clear. This forum software does not embed videos with time specifics URLs. - Sure mutually beneficial for DS and Gamigo (although in the end I am willing to bet more beneficial for Gamigo then DS) but what about the community? Also I do not know why you think we have not watched those two videos? Or why you seem to take them as Holy Writ? They are public relations pieces Probably written by Gamigo's PR dept)

I get the cynicism towards Gamigo, but this is a different arrangement than what we're accustomed to. Gamigo didn't buy the husk of a previous developed game with the intentions to zombie it. Fractured is still very much in development.

If I stick my hand in the fire I expect it will get burned. This is certainly the same. I admire your optimism. I prefer realism as it frequently leaves me less disappointed with how things turn out. I hope that you are right and I am wrong but realistically I don't believe that will be the case.

I was crafting a lengthy response to several of the things @Nekrage said here then I realized it was pointless. I was obviously wrong and @Nekrage was obviously correct. Whatever @Nekrage said is clearly fact simply because @Nekrage said it.
There done. Fractured is doomed if the devs do not immediately do what @Nekrage says.

Perfect you and your awesome guild are already planning on how you can break the game and its only in alpha.

Actually one part of the testing is try to break the game so the issues can be addressed and fixed before the game goes live. Yeah it sounds bad, but it is better that someone does that during the test phases rather than when the game is already released.

Yeah i get that Alpha is testing mechanics and trying to break the game and that is fine. However the comments of the OP are concerning because they seem to include playing the actual game. Perhaps that is a misinterpretation on my part.

    • RE: Whats in the future graphically.

Interesting question. I think it will come down to which game can offer the most satisfying experience (which of course will be subjective). If you want to run around in a visually stunning world, if you want satisfying gameplay, or if a game can offer both. I think Fractured will have to depend on its gameplay.
