    • RE: OCEANS IN FRACTURED???

What happens if you freeze the water and stand on it until freeze expires? 🙂

Will you just auto die (like splat you died)? That would be kinda completely un immersive to see.

Will there be a pop up window that says that you drowned? Again, lame to see.

Unless natural swimming physics are implemented then, any sort of drowning that happens will look lame and artificial (imo).

And, again, if natural swimming physics aren't implemented (which is likely according to what we heard), then we come back to original question, what happens if you freeze the water then stand on it until freeze expires? How does your death look like?

    • RE: How should an auction house be addressed

The game is supposed to be sandbox.

This means, if there will be an AH, then players should determine how much their effort (item) is worth, and other players are free to decide if they want to pay that much, or will they buy from another seller.

Anything else eliminates "sandbox" from a game.

    • RE: guild sharing loot/ stats

In a games like that, you just need to find yourself a good guild.

      1. no one is forcing you to join bad guilds.
      2. no one is forcing you to stay in a bad guild once you have seen it's bad
      3. if there is no good guilds out there, you are free to create one yourself and recruit (more people like you out there)

If you are lazy to search for a good guild, or to put in effort to create your own guild, set by your rules and standards, than that is your own problem. 😉

That being said, I hate rotten guilds too.

    • RE: In Game Memorial for Players that Die as a Suggestion

Perhaps it could be a vote in the respected zone and then a whole community (whoever has housing in the said zone) would be able to vote if they want a particular player to have a headstone on a city cemetery or not.

      Sandbox / democracy.

There could also be a vote to remove the headstones (cemetery) later on if community no longer wants them (re purposing of the land).

    • RE: In Game Memorial for Players that Die as a Suggestion

I wouldn't put up anything permanent and huge... there are all kind of (not normal) people, some might even commit suicide just to have huge permanent monument in game... or at least fake their deaths, to get a monument. And who could prove (or bother to check institutions around the world for all the players) if they really died or not?

Ability to do a ceremony, sure, that sounds reasonable. Perhaps name written in a book of dead in a church, when some players go to the archives and reads the book, he can see the list.

But nothing that permanently occupies a space in a game world.

    • RE: I don't get the abilities

@nelchael said in I don't get the abilities:

      @gothix

Even the rank 1 abilities probably won't be random, since a few days after alpha comes out, someone will almost certainly make a thread with a list of all the different abilities and their requirements. Then there will be wikis and such.

Some of them could be random though. For example 5% chance after killing a striped tiger to learn ability X. It's always from that particular tiger, but not every time you kill it.

      We will see. 🙂

I don't think there is oceans on Tartaros 😛 But if they did, it could be a cool idea 🙂

Maybe add oceans of hot tar?

Oceans of molten lava, that melt the ships as they sail though. 😄

    • RE: I don't get the abilities

You will first set your attributes when you create your character.

After that, during an actual game play, you will learn various abilities as you go. They wont be randomly found, but it may seem so because they will be hidden around the world, and you will not know where they are.

Some you will learn when you kill some mobs, some you may discover in some ruins while exploring, etc. Once you have learned base ability (rank 1) you will be able to upgrade it to rank 2 and rank 3 through specific set of tasks that will be given to you.

You can learn all the abilities that exist in game, and have them in your "ability book", however you will be limited in how many of them you can place on your skill bar at once.

So yes, one might feel that rank 1 versions of abilities are unlocked "at random", although it isn't really random, it is always a specific task that you need to do to unlock it. It's just that we wont be told what that task is for each R1 ability, so it may just seem to be random. For higher ranks, you will be told exactly what you need to do to upgrade them.

    • RE: Your 3 most important 'Features' you want in Fractured

Few things that could be cool, if possible and viable to add:

      • areas hidden from most of general population, difficult to find and reach, with dynamic randomized approach pathways (or mazes that lead to them) and rewards that await there
      • 2 sit mounts so I can pick up chicks and drive them around, showing them how cool I am
      • underground structures, personal mini dungeons, hidden vaults that players can build and own
      • topless (we have topless demon in art already, so why not in actual game too) 😉

    • RE: Class for Uroadra

@Gofrit you are focusing only on combat value.

I was also considering "out of combat" support to make a more versatile "support character", and PER and CHA offer nice things to go along the OOC support, item identification, spotting hidden creatures, discovering more rare resources, influencing NPCs, etc.

Also Udoara has +3 and +1 on those attributes, while having -X on most others, this is why PER and CHA seems like the best option to create great support character (both in combat and out of combat).

If you wish focus "only on combat value" then yes, what you suggest can be considered.

    • RE: Class for Uroadra

For a support focused character I would personally consider perception and charisma. They give you some nice additional ways to support your group/guild, in addition to supporting them with your spells. With PER and CHA you will be able to help with fantastic skill of mysterious item identification, NPC interaction on behalf of your group, controlling higher amount of pets which can also be of use, spotting hidden things in world, extra skill in finding valuable resources, charming creatures which could also be helpful, etc.

Below is Spotlight description of what PER and CHA are. Take a look. Might be an interesting option for your support character. 🙂

      __

      PERCEPTION
Perception is a measure of the accuracy and observation skills of a character, determining its chances to score critical hits and the damage they do, its accuracy rating, its ability to instinctively identify items, to spot hidden creatures, traps and treasures and to find valuable resources while gathering.

      CHARISMA
Charisma is a measure of the leadership and mental abilities of a character, determining the amount of pets and companions it can control at once, its ability to charm other creatures and its affinity with mental abilities, which increases psychic damage and psychic resistance. It also grants a moderate bonus to item identification, makes interactions with NPCs easier and more effective, and determines the base luck of the character.

      __

Udoadra also has affinity with charisma (+3) and perception (+1) making it very worthwhile investing in those, since you get more points like that then investing in other attributes.

Just max those 2 attributes as much as you can, and in small chance if any unspent points are left, you could buff constitution a bit to increase your survivability.

    • What are the things you heavily dislike in any MMO (regardless of MMO type (pvp/pve/sandbox/themepark..))

      Make your TOP 10 list!

      This is my list.
I heavily dislike in any MMO out there:

      1. multi boxers
      2. botters
      3. hackers, exploiters and cheaters of any kind
      4. gold sellers spamming world chat
      5. streamers spamming world chat with their links
      6. AFK activities (equal to botting imo, makes game more dead then it should be, like solo game with AIs around you)
      7. developers stating one thing then crossing the players making something opposite (devs outright lying to players)
      8. players entitlement to everything
      9. players crying to nerf everything too difficult for them (because they HAVE TO be able to complete everything in game)
      10. ridiculous prices in cash shop (greed) (for example 50$ for a single piece of virtual clothing)

No AH = you need to travel around to deliver resources from one spot where they are available to another spot where they are not = risk vs reward = profit = fits into sandbox open world full loot MMO
