    • RE: Character Creation: ideal build analysis, and discussion of initial attribute builds

I doubt stat at 6 will completely eliminate chance of success. That woud be stat at 0, which cant be done. Sucess is calculated by formulas and only 0*something give a zero.

Chance can however be extremely low, thats true, and very likely. Stat at 6 will definitely mean you are very bad at that thing.

Gear will possibly add some stats. So people can go 10 dex, 14 str, and then add more str with gear. Or they can go 6 dex, 18 str, add more dex with gear and achieve same result.

The question is how you wanna walk around naked, after you have been killed and looted.

Perhaps if dex is giving movement speed, you want higher natural dex to get into game faster after you have been looted and are naked so 6 dex and then increasing it with gear might not be the best choice, because you will be very slow while naked, and getting back into game will take longer time. And this is pvp game where you will die and get looted a lot.

Havent yet seen people theorycraft from this aspect. All I've seen is people theorycraft for ideal situations.

    • RE: Other types of "consumables"?

Consumables are always nice, not only as help used in fights, but also as economy catalists as well. More consumable things out there, the more need for constant fluctuating economy.

It is only important that consumables do not become too powerful, to be considered as mandatory if you want to win the fights. As long as they stay a "mild help" they will work OK.

    • RE: Dexterity giving speed bonus might be an issue

@Tuoni if you put points in speed, then you will lack points somewhere else. So you are fast, but if a melee with STR CON, catches you using movement spells, you will easily eat the bullet. 🙂

You can't gank someone if you are fast, and he is strong, he will just turn around and kill you.

Assuming 1 vs 1 here, and equal playing skills.

If you are 2 (or more) vs 1, then no ammount of points matter where they are, several players will always beat 1, no matter how you turn it. There is no escape.

Point is if you are kiting spec (hunter) then speed is beneficial, but if you are (warrior) then its better to minmax combat, and use movement spells, to catch up to your target, and slows to prevent him from escaping.

    • RE: More than 8 abilities if beastkin, still truth?

@Yitra said in More than 8 abilities if beastkin, still truth?:

What do you mean by that, Beastkin and Demons can have higher points in some stats than 18 (and lower in some others), but on the other hand, they can only distribute 100 points, where humans have 120 points to spend. It's not that they have a free boost, it comes with a price.

Beastkin and demon can minmax a lot better, because of affinities, they gain bonus points. That outweights an extra 20 points, that don't come with bonus, imho.

A special note to everyone who might not have noticed yet, it looks like game will not work on windows 7 (win10 is listed as minimum), which may be a huge deal for many players. So pay attention. 🙂

    • RE: What unusual weapon types would you like to see?

I would love to see human tech being used in weaponry as well.

Besides eye implants, to enchance night vision, leg implants to enchance speed, perhaps (mortal komat) hand inplants to chain pull target to yourself "come here!" or tech traps to slow enemy targets. Implants for weapons to enhance precision and more.

    • RE: Cities Verse Solo Random House plots

As a hermit, you will rely on gathering, being closer then town folks to raw materials (so you can gather more efficiently the larger amounts), and then traveling with those materials to towns to sell them.

Then you will have cash, that you can spend on other stuff in towns that you need, including "advanced gear".

That's the whole point of sandbox. People not having everything, but having something, then traveling trading for other stuff. If you would have everything in one spot, then whats the point.

Human technology needs to work on other planets, because it's not there only to pair demon / beastkin racials, but also to make up for loss of stat afinities that demons / beastkin get through character customisation, imho.

Since humans don't get powerful racials, and don't get stat boosts in character creation, then without tech, they would just suck. 😉

    • RE: Dexterity giving speed bonus might be an issue

I'm guessing, for melee, it's better to go STR CON, and then rely on movement skills to quickly catch up to your targets and engage them (apply slows to them so they don't get away from you afterwards), you can then add small amount of DEX alongside those 2.

Bigger amount of DEX is imho more for hunters, who need to run faster bigger amount of time, to continually kite targets.

"Short" invulnerability window instantly reminds me of Black Desert, the witch class, whos gameplay was to blink all the time to stay immune to damage.

      Just meh...

If there are any "invulnerabilities" they should be tied to general spells that are available to every race, and ofc. have a decent CD tied to them.

I could already see druids shapeshift like mad to remain immune lol.

      Very nice news!

Looking forward to see what community thinks about player cities, and especially taverns. 😉

Feedback from survey was interesting to see. Very nice of you to share the results with us.

I must say once again, that talent tree looks awesome. Design is absolutely amazing, makes you wish go "clickity-click" on it. 🙂

Greatjob on building everything. But now its time for community to go break few things again in the test. 😉

    • RE: Is there planned any "CD reduction" in case of spell saved?

Melee can be quite OP, especially if more tanky, and having some good AOE CC utility skills, like AOE chainpull, which pulls all targets within certain range towards them and stunns them shortly - followed by ranged nuke on that location.

ArcheAge had a cool spell, which created a forcefield in certain radius around the player, trapping group of people that were around the player inside it, cutting them off from rest of their team, especially from healer support, if used correctly.

Even with collision, melees can be quite OP, it just depends on how tanky they will be, and how much utility spells they will have, and how OP those spells are.

    • RE: Arborian or Arborean?

@PeachMcD Have to take into account, that not only beasts will reside on Arboreus though. 🙂 It might become home place to anyone of good alignment, though we can't be certain of that yet. Long time to release.

Perhaps beastly inhabitants of Arboreus will have own name for themself, human ihnabitants of Arboreus own name for themself, and angels who inhabit Arboreus own name for themself.

      Beasts - Arboreasts
      Human - Arbormen
      Angels - Arborels

      Who knows... 🙂

    • RE: Bummer for me: "Hello Governor! A few city-claiming tips for you..."

Basically city will provide more safety, and closer access to needed industry, machines, other professions, more complex structures.

Hermit plot (depending on location) can provide closer proximity to raw materials (harvesting).

    • RE: Arborian or Arborean?

      Some examples from real world:

      Cyprus - Cypriots
      Belarus - Belarusians
      Mauritius - Mauritians

      Damascus - Damascenes
      Columbus - Columbusites

For Arboreus, Arboreans "sounds" more correctly, though, since this planet does not exist in real world, nothing is officially defined. I guess we will see how devs will call them in texts. 🙂
