    • RE: Any ideas for easing the search for specific items/mobs?

If something like that could be done that would be great. Make the world as dynamic as possible.

So not always you find same things on same places. Make the exploratory requirements more pronounced. 🙂

It would be amazing if spawn locations moved depending on human migration, where settlements are made, or where humans hunt more often (animals run away). But even if migration is random it would also be great.

Or use health to passivelly regen your Endurance (like 1% of current/max health every few seconds).

      This could be neat.

Basically high health is generally used in MMOs for the sole purpose so that tanks would not die in "one shot" from some more powerful boss attacks, that otherwise kill in one shot other roles with lesser amounts of health.

I'm thinking about animal migration, where not always same mobs would reside on same place.

I always turn everything to max first, then I check performance in larger fights, and then if needed i start turning things down.

Foliage is indeed among the first to go (after reducing anti-aliasing down from max to moderate). 🙂

    • RE: Travelling is "complicated" to be mild

Travelling on foot, through hard terrain should indeed be slow and cumbersome. That's why players should try and use their knowledge for more efficient travel (when this all is implemented of course). 🙂

One factor is using mounts to travel faster.

Another factor is travelling on roads, when there will be bonuses (bonus by traveling on road should be tangible). Why? Because it will be risk vs profit. Roads will due to this reason likely be spots where ambushes will be made. So faster travel vs bigger risk of an ambush.

Having all of the above, combined with teleportation options (including all their limitations), and travelling should imho end up well designed.

Just enough so that it still requires an effort, but if you are organized and use your options, it will not be a pain. 🙂

Again, as Specter mentioned, not all is implemented yet, so it's hard to judge at this moment.

Some form of tracking would indeed be cool.
It would also allow "trackers" to potentially make some small profit by selling their time and services, to those that chose other schools / professions.

    • RE: Any ideas for easing the search for specific items/mobs?

I'd prefer that a potential animal tracking not give you pointer towards animal current location right away, but perhaps show you its tracks, that you could than follow (if they are still "warm", not older than X time passed).

However that would make sense if all animals constantly moved around, and wouldn't just stick to a location. 🙂

Other than that, perhaps you could culture certain animals on your farm. Rabbits could easily be "grown".

      Wild animals, hmm perhaps a:

tracking dog pets that would not fight for you, but serve as help in tracking animals. There could even be a proffesion:

PET TRAINER that could train your pet in certain skills. System could be made pretty complex. But again, that's investment of resources. 🙂 Would it be worth it?

    • RE: Feature Spotlight #2 - Universe, Planets and Travels

      I LOVE the update! 🙂

I really love time cycles, It really adds to realism, and complete atmosphere of the world.

Plant ground design (resource availability) really fits in with the lore, and "class" availability for races as well.

Some survival elements are really nice to have too, for this type of game. You can not just roam around and endlessly fight, often tactics and preparation will determine victor, and not only playing skills, specially in larger scale fights. Politics will be super important as well.

    • RE: Would love to see mob loot drops tied to knowledge

      @PeachMcD

      1. Having to use another profession to help out, for example, book writing (or profession connected with writing documents, and map making or similar), you prepare materials (notebook to write your observations in, then having a specific tasks you have to perform with mob, while required to have those profession tools in your bag), this could get you knowledge on mobs.

How complex would that be to introduce, that's up to devs. 😄

    • RE: Would love to see mob loot drops tied to knowledge

Lower profession skill = RNG results (because you mess the things up often)
Higher skill results = RNG is non existent, or very minimal (because you are professional, who very rarely messes up)

Tools may be part of factor as well, worse tools, better tools.

Perhaps how well rested you are as well? 😉

I like this system very much.

Do something fast and effortless, get weaker results, or RNG results are completely OK in this scenario too.

Possibility to avoid RNG and get better results with more effort (or player knowledge) invested +100 !

So far this all looks amazing! 🙂

    • RE: Suggestion: Different spells have different armor requirements

@Razvan @asspirin I simply don't want yet another cakewalk game.

      The harder the better.

Every single MMO nowdays is getting nerfed to hell, so kids wouldn't cry while playing. It's a sad reality.

Everything needs to be soloable, why??
Everyone needs to be able to do everything with one set of gear, why??
And what if gear is lost, one can go and make new one. Or be smart and organized and don't lose it in the first place (or lose it very rarely by playing smart, and with friends).

Someone has long job and only 2 hours to play? So he wants to ruin the game for everyone else by nerfing it to the ground, just so it fit his particular lifestyle? That's pretty darn selfish.

For me, even this what is planned is way to easy. It should be harder. It should be easier to lose the gear. Gear should be even more specialized so you need to carefully think what you are doing and where.

Game should not get easier... it should get harder.

Its Alpha. Focus right now is on getting mechanics working correctly and smoothly. Base graphics lookin' good, and smooth. Polishing combat,...

Content is usually added throughout beta (late beta 1 / early beta 2) in MMO development. 🙂

    • RE: Suggestion: Different spells have different armor requirements

@Razvan said in Suggestion: Different spells have different armor requirements:

This would make tanking quite awkward both in pve, because they have to carry a bunch of sets and change whenever they reach the next group of mobs

But it's like that for everyone. 🙂

That's the point of this game, to have multiple sets of armor, and then prepare for expedition, gear for what you aim, and embark on a journey. Do what you wanted then go home, rest, recover, unload booty, prepare new gear for what you want to do.

This MMO is not supposed to be, go around, kill anything in same gear, roam how long you like not carrying about bag space, do what you like without ever returning home to re-prepare. 😄

By having an ability to mix and match, you can make yourself geared towards situation you want to do. If task is too hard for one person (lack of gear maybe, or simply too hard in any other way), then find a party, gear up for your role in party, AND situation at hand and go. After the task is completed go home and gear up for next task.

    • RE: Skill change name -

Marksmanship only envelops skills using ranged weapon, where hunting envelops much more alongside ranged weapon skills. It also includes traps, tracking, particular skills with melee weapons appropriate for the school, etc...

Therefore I would say for a school of skills, hunting is much more appropriate name than marksmanship.

      Excelent post! 🙂

I also hate RNG. I prefer no RNG completely if that would be possible, but if not then i at least hope RNG will be minimal.

I'm not playing gambling games. I tried ArcheAge armor upgrading. That's not for me.
