    • RE: Pet system can be based on UO or Daoc?

Hmmm perhaps if pet needs to be fed, pet could come with inventory slot on him, slot that can be just used for pet food.
Like pet carrying a little bag.

Then you just need to care there is food inside, and pet eats when he is hungry and slowly spends the food.

    • RE: Reserve a name separately?

Madonna has a last name, she just chooses not to show it. šŸ˜‰

But an account name would definitely help a lot I think, then having independent character names in game (incognito or public).

I think the main point is that the stat changes you can gain in game will be in a minor amount, to not significantly impact your character.

They will help a bit, yes, but not in such huge way that it changes your "caster core" into "melee core", if I can use such terms.

    • RE: Reserve a name separately?

Perhaps a system like a blizzard has. Account name, which would be the name we are active under in forums by default (and could be changed once, if people wished, because they didn't plan on it being forum name, so give everyone one inital possibility to change it if they like, then keep it), and then character names in game would be independent of it.

But friends could be found through account name.

For example: my account name would be Gothix but I wouldn't need to have character named Gothix in game, I could have demon named Demonicus, and beastman named Beasty, and people could still find me by searching my account name (Gothix).

Of course if people wished to played incognito, privacy option would exist to be turned on, so people who don't wish their characters known can't be found through account name.

Initially, system could set account name to already existing forum user name, and allow people one free change, if they wished, as long as what they wish isn't taken already.

    • RE: People who buy a founders pack today get more than yesterday

That kind of depends on how many attributes can be gained from gear. šŸ˜‰

If you can distribute 100 attribute points on character creation, but then get only additional 2 from gear, that could be considered insignificant in comparison.

However if player would be able to gain more significant amount of attributes from gear, than naturally the influence of vertical progression rises.

We do not know yet how much attributes we will actually be able to get from game play (and gear specifically), besides what @Znirf wrote... that it will be a minor amount. šŸ™‚

Characters with high intelligence should more naturally follow a leader based on his high intelligence score.

Characters with low intelligence should more naturally follow a leader based on his other attributes. šŸ˜‰

    • RE: People who buy a founders pack today get more than yesterday

@FibS said in People who buy a founders pack today get more than yesterday:

If a character that was just made 5 minutes ago was "viable" against a character after 40+ hours of progress, I would want my money back because that would basically mean there was no game play for that 40 hours. Not any consequential game play, anyway.

Your players skill and knowledge increases.

Something like in Secret World (original). At start I was total noob, a single mob destroyed me, but later on I got so much better and my skill and knowledge grew so that with same gear (where I was before destroyed by single mob) I could now destroy 50 mobs at once (I'm not exaggerating here).

I could have then made new alt, and with fresh gear destroy many mobs. That's progress, not character progress, but your own progress as player.

And if you will say that everyone will progress like that, it's simply not true. Depending on peoples effort and IQ, different players will progress at different rates and up to different levels. Whoever played The Secret World (original) will know what I am talking about.

Just with good theory crafting and application, 2 players with same gear and access to same skills, could have (and did) perform 2000% differently.

That is what I hope from Fractured. Slowly unlocking skills through characters knowledge progression, and becoming able to use those skills more efficiently through your own players knowledge progression.

If you come to the game as new player, and I am veteran player with many hours invested, I will destroy you, not because I have better gear (I don't), but because my knowledge and skill is vastly superior to yours (and I also have more skills unlocked through my play time).

Even if we will have exactly the same gear, my statement above will still be 100% accurate.

    • RE: Min/Max'ing and crafting/fighting

I'll just throw a crude example here.

On beginning, instantly, you will be able to craft an item (and use it quick so you are not naked):
+10 fire resist +10 frost resist +10 nature resist +10 shadow resist (total 40 in resistances)

It will require some effort to make (customize an item):
+20 fire resist +20 frost resist (total 40 in resistances as well)

It will require even more effort to specialize an item even more:
+40 fire resist (total 40 in resistances as well)

None of these items is more powerful, its just that you can customize items to more fit specific circumstances, so on start you will not be able to own fire boss, but later with some effort you will be, even though you weren't getting more powerful gear, just more specialized one.

Problem with uncapped stat increases (from knowledge and from gear) is that game might get a tangible vertical progression like that. And that is kind of not advertised. šŸ˜‰

    • RE: Reserve a name separately?

Name reservation is something many players wish, and as such is often used as incentive for people to buy higher tier packages so developers get better cash support for developing their game.

For this reason, I doubt name reservation would be included in lower tiers. It might end up being sold separately, but in such case it would also not be cheap, or people who already spent cash to get higher tier, because of name reservation, would get displeased.

So I can already tell you with 99% certainty, name reservations will not get included in low tier packages. šŸ™‚
And if it got included in cash shop separately, it would probably also cost at least 50$, so if you add 25$ for adept it would still cost you 75$ to get a game access with a name reservation. IF it ended up sold separately, which is also doubtful. šŸ™‚

    • RE: Summon Fellow Demon Players Ability

Question is also, if you accept this request as demon, would would happen with all your stuff you had in bag (and gear)?

If it just dropped on the ground for someone to take it, and you would lose it, no one would really accept such requests.

If it got ported to your house, or just stayed somehow protected somewhere, people could abuse this to safe guard their stuff for a while, in need, or port it to their homes.

If it went together with you, it would be abused for quick transportation of goods. Humans would summon demons to trade with them.

    • RE: Foundation chests

That could be cool as well.

I'd just perhaps exclude forum titles from seasonal foundation, because if unique titles were added every time, forum would get filled with so many titles it would become a mess. šŸ™‚

Summonable monsters for target practice, dueling practice. A magic fountain of summoning.

You can only summon a monster inside your own garden and monster can't leave from there. This monster can be used for you to practice your (melee) skills. Garden isn't really large enough to practice ranged. šŸ˜‰

Alternatively, simple target dummy would do.

I also agree that it's way too early to do any kind of min max plans right now. At most we can generally speculate about core principles and our wishes.

    • RE: Foundation chests

Maybe if foundation persists for a while more, it can be extended a bit, and those chest skins offered as reward for higher level.

I'm fine with either, just throwing some suggestions here. šŸ˜‰

Of course if skin was reward, it would only apply to one chest perhaps, so people still have reason to buy more skins in the store. šŸ™‚

      • I like the idea of having mini-games in the game, such as dice or cards or what have you, but I’m not sure how to get more than a handful of people to actually do those things for fun in their downtime, as these things tend to be abandoned fairly quickly by some people. Perhaps tournaments, etc.

      Betting.

An option to play for gold will inevitably pull part of the crowd in.

Right, which is why I said the guy who claimed we are viable from the instant we start is wrong. Gear increases stats and you have to buy/make/find it first.

Mmmmm, there is still a chance that we will not start naked but with some "basic" starting set of gear on our character. Though, I agree, It seems far more likely we will be starting naked.

If we start with some basic gear, then cool down on character deletion would be needed, so people do not exploit making and deleting characters to hoard up on gear (or mats, that you can get, disassembling it).

Perhaps, if a whole group sprays a boss full of bullets and arrows, a head full of holes would drop, and you would have a "ruined" head to put up on a wall. šŸ˜›

Jokes aside, having a group version and a (different) solo version could be ok. People who wish to have bragging rights about accomplishing a solo kill could still do it because "solo skin" would be unique, different than "group skin".
