    • RE: Real Crafting

Most powerful secrets are never posted. The handful of people that are able to discover them (after significant effort) keep them a secret, specially if its connected to profit (selling this crafted item).

I always think back on original edition of The Secret World and it's amazing complexity of deck building. How each skill in deck affected another one and players who place significant effort (and had decent IQ) managed to create overpoweded decks simply by using their brain and placing an effort in good deal of parsing and experimentation.

Now there were people that wrote tutorials on web and posted some very nice OP decks... however, the best decks were never posted, trust me.

I know because I played in perhaps the worlds top guild, with few players, and the decks we made and used were never given out... those "OP decks" posted on web (that become meta, and were widely accepted as cookie cutter builds) were not even close to the decks we created and used.

Those very best decks were kept as the top secret never to be shared with the rest of the world.

To this day I'm still probably the only player in the world that soloed a nightmare dungeon boss, pre Tokyo (when 10.5.5 was max gear). I never gave out the deck that I used, and process of how I used it to anyone.

It is also important to take account that RNG will eventually turn almost (with some tolerance ofc) to static number when sampling is high enough. So in short run anything can happen, but with long run the numbers will settle close to average.

Actually no... that's the point of RNG, it is always RNG, and there is an actual RNG chance that some player will always have good results, while other player will always have bad results (or most of the time).

This is what I hate about RNG. Specific players benefiting only on luck, while others having poor results most of the time.

I much prefer when player effort (and brain) are the sole factors in players success rate.

      I favor order over chaos.

Granted, this order needs to be just, and rules need to be set so that they are based on logic.
I hate rules that are skewed in such way to force the balance among the players.

I also hate RNG from the depths of my soul. RNG makes it impossible for you to progress and get better, because no matter what you do, RNG is RNG.

So i prefer game without any amount of RNG.

A game should have complex rules that aren't obvious at start, and require you to invest your time, and use your brain in order to understand them. Gaining the understanding of all the rules shouldn't be an easy task, it should require significant effort, and i can't stress this enough, RNG shouldn't be included there in any amount whatsoever.

Also by just a short check on @PeachMcD digital footprint, I can see its not only about gender names. She is a general activist (also quite religious), goes on various campaigns, marches etc.

In other words, she tries to push to change many things in broader spectrum of fields (weather it's more or less fitting to do so in a particular field). 😉

Frankly, changing long time establish lore dictionaries would just sound horrible.

If i saw a MMO with races called Beastpersons, and using various terminologies like person power (instead of manpower), parent nature (instead of mother natre), ... "insert many other crap sounding vocabulary terms here"...

... I'd skip that MMO in a wide circle, and wouldn't touch it with a stick.

What you are suggesting would make the MMO more attractive for 5% of population and less attractive for 80% of population, where perhaps 15% of players wouldn't care.

While we are there, how about we change HuMAN to HuLings? xD

Beastmen is a term that includes both beast genders.

Only in modern days few overly sensitive social groups started requesting changes of thousands of years old dictionaries because their fragile ego was hurt (and they are so bored that they don't have anything smarter to do with their time). I can tell you right away, dictionary isn't their problem, they have many more serious issues, but dictionary isn't one of them.

Perhaps all items could (even if there are no repairs) have a limited lifetime (you could see how much lifetime item has when you inspect it).

At the end of lifetime, item would just break into a percentage of base materials from which it was created, which would then just fall to the ground near you (for the effect).

You run around through forest and suddenly crack ... 2 stones and a piece of wood on ground near you. "Oh crap that was my sword".

    • RE: Real Crafting

@Roccandil at this game stuff doesn't need to be infinitely crafted, because items aren't bound, and they can change hands. So once an area is saturated with items crafting will die out. People will just need to steal form one another.

Even if crafting continues, it will be "dry" and will bring nothing new and unique. Since everyone was able to craft everything, it was just matter of time until market is saturated.

The only way to avoid that is to:

      • make items decay over time and be destroyed
      • make everyone not be able to craft everything (which will mandate stronger need for trading)
      • make crafting custom depending on different factors

I know crafting loving people (specially solo players) would love to be able to do everything on their own, but that is just bringing the whole game quality down by a notch.

Yes i know we might not end up having crafting like this, but i'm just expressing my opinion here, including some facts (with which you may not wish to agree with) but which doesn't make them any less true. 🙂

    • RE: New Foundation Quests?

You don't need recruits at all. I have 7 recruits in total (6 of whom only registered and never did questing, so they are still level 10 or so), so basically i got like 1k points from all those recruits together.

I got 75k points in 1 year I've been here (so 74k if you remove my recruit points) which got me to level 350.

That's in one year, and there is still 2 years till game releases, so even if you started now from level 1 you could be level 700 till game releases 😉 if foundation keeps going on.

@Pwnstar @Jetah foundation also said at one point that "new rewards might be coming", so there is no reason why new rewards couldn't be added past level 200, up to level 300 or even 400 😉 if devs decided to keep foundation going for a while more.

If demons attack the transport they dont have to bring it anywhere.

It doesn't make sense not to take valuable loot once you killed previous owners... but even if we assume that for some reason someone left it on the ground, anyone passing through later on can still pick it up and take it. IF nothing else old owners can return to check if it's still there.

There will be no "wasted loot".

But how are the victorious demons going to sell anything in Arboreus?

They can sell it in Syndesia, and then whoever bought it there can take it to Arboreus and sell it.

Details don't matter, in the end resources will end up at another planet, how their path in between will look like doesn't matter.

I would rather not have classic starting zones, but just spawn people randomly across the planet on start (perhaps just avoiding specific spots where monsters are).

Hmmm if bridges could be craftable, then they would perhaps require same placeholders like houses need, which would again limit where you can place them, which would take most fun out of it.

Unless bridge could be placed anywhere, I'd rather we have fixed bridges, and nothing else.

If bridge could be crafted absolutely anywhere, then i see possibility of crafting one as a fun thing.
