      That could be more connected to politics than with trading skill itself.

      Better politics skill = less taxes, better stall spot,...

      Trading skill (mechanical) isn't meant for sandbox... you are trading with other people, you are as good in trading as you can be as real player. Trading skill is more meant for theme park MMOs where you are trading with NPCs a lot.

      Isometric perspective certainly has it's advantages, but, imho, it's always better to design the game with less stress on the server, than with more stress.

      Some limitations have to apply. You never know how popular your game might be, and how many players will come play.
      2 million stands or beacons would break the game in any perspective. 😉 So devs have to consider everything and not just assume things. 🙂

      Sure, but this will only help as much as yelling WTS / WTB in chat would... People will still need to meet up with the merchant to make the exchange and risk travelling and all. So using web to post sales isn't a problem at all.

      @BillySteel no loot is 100% safe forever, regardless of where you store it.

      The safest you can store your loot is to banks inside cities, but even cities can be sieged, and people expelled from them. Your own house can also decay over time if you do not care for it, so nothing is eternally safe.

      The best you can do is combine your housing storage and banks in few cities, so even if one location is lost, you will not loose everything at once.


      That being said, loot is also easier to come by than in other MMOs, so even if you lose something, with a little effort you can get more to make up for it.

      Guilds that control the zones could "rent" marketing planks near roads in their zone where people, that want to pay for this service, could promote their shop with a poster and directions to it.

      In cities that aren't controlled by guilds, money for this service would be payed to NPCs (gold sink).

      There would be limited spots for this posters, and people that want to rent these spots would compete once per week (or month), highest bid wins.

      Being able to set up shop (on Syndesia or Tartaros) anywhere could even work, but only under condition that this shop can be destroyed and robbed by other players.

      That would prevent clutter. 😉

      @Znirf what happens if there is an evil city (evil guild rules it and they have set rules to accept evil alignment and to hunt down good alignment), but then after a siege good guild takes over and changes rules...

      In this scenario evil aligned players still have houses there, but they can not reach them because guards are killing them while they attempt so.

      Opposite can be problematic as well, a switch from good to evil.

      I worry about post-house destruction mechanics.

      If your house can be destroyed in a town siege (it would make sense that it can since this is sandbox, and the house itself isn't hard to rebuild), then what happens with items?

      Some MMOs mail storage items back to you if your house is destroyed so you can pick them up again, BUT... in Fractured this could be abused. Store stuff in house, let it be destroyed, stuff is mailed to you, then travel on otherside of world risk free, and pick your items from mail there. And there you go, risk free transportation of goods.

      So mail mechanics can't work in Fractured.

      So if your house is destroyed in siege, your stuff could only wait you on the same location (in that town) for you to pick them up, and then transport them to where you want (risking that stuff being stolen on the way).

      For Fractured this makes sense.

      So what can you do to work around that?

      Do NOT keep all your "stuff" in one location! Use storage spaces in various cities around the map. In this way, not only you are protected from loosing all at once, but you are also ready to jump back in battle in various zones, if you die there and are looted, because you have backups all around the world.

      Yeah, I don't like "toon being always online" as well.

      It creates unnecessary extra stress on the server, and makes you unable to protect your toon while you aren't online.

      Perhaps a combination system for currency:

      1. gold (without weight) that can't be stolen (because it is not kept as an item in bag) but you can only carry very limited amount of it because this gold amount that can be in your wallet is capped (for example 50 gold cap).

      2. for any extra amount of currency you want to own / carry, you need to exchange gold coins into precious gems. Precious gems are carried in bag, have weight, and can be stolen.

      This would ensure that when player is robbed, he would still have little currency (gold) left to be able to get into the game. But this amount would be limited, so that players wealth isn't really protected, and player needs to care of it.
