i dont want any convenience. that's a fine line to walk and i doubt anyone knows how to do it.

If done properly of course. Without crossing into P2W.

For example, an extra amounts of bag space (and carry capacity overall) in a game that's about farming and fighting for resources would not be OK.

But some small things that do not affect combat and guild competitiveness could be ok. Perhaps some small stuff connected with housing.

Yes.. we do not want cosmetics at ridiculous price. But we do want cosmetics at a decent price, and we will buy them.
We don't want high one time fee. We want decent one time fee, and we will pay it.
We don't want P2W from money shop. We want small convenience from money shop and we will pay it.

All that will pay developers, and make the game go.

    • RE: Guilds planets and races

@B3CK3R said in Guilds planets and races:

So im kinda new arround here and have been reading about the game and getting a little hype. Came with a few questions and maybe sugestions to the future development. Mostly related to the alignment and planet system

      • Will be a possibility of humans, demons and beastmen be on the sabe guild? or even play as a party? What are the implications for this to happen?

      • How locked are the races to the playstyles? Could i create a beastman character but later on decide to join a pvp focused guid to raid and conquer cities?

      • How are rescources distribuited arround the planets? More intense pvp planets will have an high risk high reward resoursce system? (mostly like albion online where black zones have high tier resources)

      Thanks

      First, welcome!

As things stand now it looks like guilds will not be race based, but allignment based... so evil humans, abominations, and demons will be able to be in same guild, and same goes for neutral players being able to be in guild together, and good players too.

Personally I'd love to see this unlocked completely and let people make these social constructs like they wish. πŸ™‚

You are not locked to play style as any race, you can do whatever you want.

Resources will be equally distributed quantity wise, but each planet will have some unique resources which will make traveling necessary.

    • RE: How long ago was Elysium destroyed?

If you wanted this to be consistent with fantasy genre, then same fireball spell would not cast out the same every time.

If you read books, watch movies, or whatever, you will see that spell efficiency always depends on characters current mood, fatique, strength of will, if he remembers what his father told him once when his was a kid and he becomes emotionally more aggitated... etc. etc.

If we transfer these rules to Fractured, your spell casts could probably depend not only on what you cast, but, on how long ago have you eaten food, are you hungry or thirsty, have enemies just killed your best friend in front of your eyes, are you currently running or standing still... how long have you been running already... was you abused as a kid (ganked a lot) when you started playing...

It's would simply be too much to develop a game taking into account ALL of this, and secondly and more importantly... it would NOT BE FUN playing a game that is this much complex....

People want to relax while playing and not think about 100 factors that affect their current fire ball cast.

This is why many things are simplified, and not care about being 100% consistent.

At one time 3 gods were friends and have ruled Elysium together.

But than something happened that drew a wedge between them and godly conflict between them emerged that in the end resulted in colosal natural disaster that fractured the world in 3 parts.

Gods split their ways and went to rule each own newly formed planet.

Over time their conflict became less direct but more transfered onto people that now follow them and fight in their name.

@Tuoni said in An option to NOT choose a deity?:

The number and power of said abilities depend on the deity’s favor towards you and how well your current Karma matches the God’s one.*

Players might start as champions of a certain god by default, and they might need the quest to become champions of another god.

I'm not sure if we got any more details about that so I'm not sure if players start as champions of some god, or they only start with certain karma but not as champions of a god, and they HAVE TO do those quest to become one.

This is quite possible though, would be nice if we get some more input on this. πŸ™‚

    • RE: Economy Balance

Game shouldn't be designed around spending cash to progress, but it would also be nice if it placed a reasonable cap on how much you can accomplish by being online per day/week, so it does not promote no life 24 hours per day gaming.

      So:

      • no P2W
      • no NoLife2win as well

It would be nice if game was designed around progression by gameplay, but with some kind of a reasonable daily/weekly CAP placed on progression.

@Gothix Temporary warehouse space and ending storage account? I could not find any info about this. Is this really a thing or more like presuming?

It's an educated guess. Since we heared that storage space will not be free of charge, it's reasonable to assume one will be able to rent it for a period of time and every rent expires if not payed.

      @Sindariya said in Economy Balance:

*You can earn some warehouse space to store your items in a village, but such space is not free – and even if you unlock it, what you deposit in the village stays in the village.

Exactly. Basically the point is that players need to travel around looking for resources, and when they find a good spot, if there is a village nearby, they can temporarily pay for storage that they will use while farming nearby area.

While farming they would move back and forth and store what they farmed in that village for safe keeping (because village is relatively close, players can't keep huge amount of stuff in their bags, and keeping wagon just standing there in the woods is super risky) until they have collected enough.

When they have enough they would organize transport to where they really wish to take all that. This transport would include wagons and optional protection (player mercenaries, guild members, whatever options that will exist) at which point player closes down their "village storage account" and leaves with his caravan of goods somewhere else.

I can see Babilis being pissed you didn’t follow them and would randomly curse you!

That's why player could were a curse resistant gear, and be skilled in active dodge. πŸ˜‰

Player could also learn the skill called "far shot" and shoot the Babilis in the ass! πŸ˜„

    • RE: Finally, a promising game studio.

Bad publisher can indeed ruin the game but...

Devs still have an option to chose which publisher they are ok with. So they can avoid publishers with bad reputation that are known to turn games into P2W, and instead go with some publisher that has a good reputation, a publisher that is liked by players.

Also contracts can be made that specify what can and what can't be done by publisher.

Problem in past MMOs was that contracts with publishers were always (usually due to demands of greedy publisher) kept classified (not reveled to players) , so players wouldn't know what publisher is allowed to change, so players would start playing and then publisher would slowly implement greedy changes to the game.

What I would love to see would be a revolutionary change of making a contract with publisher public and all details visible to players.

That, in combination with choosing a publisher with good reputation could eliminate all player doubt in game turning P2W in the future.

    • RE: Friendly Fire

It indeed adds more necessity for better tactical organization and all @Target said.

And, yes, that only works well if both teams are subject to FF.

If one team would be subject to FF and other team not, that would just be completely game breaking.

    • RE: Optional wasd movement?

@Darian said in Optional wasd movement?:

@Gothix First of all, you get crime points for attacking, so it does have consequence for the griever crew. Especially since they will most likely need to reinforce that tag every 10 seconds or something, thus racking up those crime points really fast. The victim could also log out and hit an alt char that's in Aroboreus, where this sort of grieving is not possible. Plus, when several players waste their time on a single char, they will not achieve much on the grand scheme. So unless they are psychotic or something, they will get bored of it quite fast.

      1. Placing yourself in combat tags you as aggressive only, nothing more, and it doesn't "rack up" anything... also you can just stay in combat permanently by continuing to fight, you will not drop out of combat every 10 sec for no reason..
      2. You can not log out in combat, it's to prevent people logging out to save their resources when attacked.. so that player will not be able to log off.
      3. There are too many "psychotic" players in the world. Take wow for example, people stay online whole days just to camp lowbies. So there are way too many people that will definitely not get bored by doing that.

Sooo, everything you said was false. πŸ˜‰ Sorry, about that.

Conclusion: mechanic to make you not able to interact with environment while in combat would just be extremely bad and holy grail of trolling.

    • RE: Optional wasd movement?

@Tuoni said in Optional wasd movement?:

What @Darian meant was not extra command, more like if you are in combat then you can not interact with resource nodes for example. So basically the game decides when you are in or out of combat.

Sooo that means I can gather with few friends, we can tag a poor guy so that he is in combat, and heal ourselves so he can not kill us... and just follow him around.... he will completely be prevented from gathering up anything, anywhere... and he can not simply run away from us, because we do not kill him and let him ressurect somewhere else and walk away. That poor guys day is ruined... And we do not get tagged as murderers or thieves even, because we do not kill him.

And if he happened to be somewhere far away from any city, he can not seek help easily... there is not fast travel, specially not in combat.... and world isa big place... long time to run to anywhere.

So when he is in combat he can not interact with environment, so he can not do anything at all, harvest, build house, nothing....

Sounds like a good idea. πŸ˜‰
