    • RE: What are you playing right now?

One private vanilla wow server launches tomorrow so I'm gonna spend some time there, to have something to do.

Google "WoW Feenix" if interested. I don't expect very high pop, but with 12x exp rate and all raids unlocked right away, it gives something to do to not be bored, and doesn't require you to grind hard.

      I'm rolling alliance.

    • RE: This game will be p2w?

@crowdac said in This game will be p2w?:

I don't see anything here that is P2W, Fractured VIP, from what I see, is P4C (Pay for Convenience).

It would be P2W if R3 spells were same as R1 versions but offered more fire power and lesser cool downs.
But devs said they are making R1, R2 and R3 as different spells, and not more powerful spells, so this is a good thing. 🙂

    • RE: This game will be p2w?

Problem with answering that is that P2W can have a different meaning to everyone.

Someone thinks P2W is only when you can outright buy gear in cash shop, the gear you can only get there and not in game.
Someone thinks P2W is when you can buy any gear in cash shop.
Someone thinks P2W is when you can buy any kind of boost in cash shop that affects combat.
Someone thinks P2W is when you can buy any boost in cash shop, even the progression speed boost.
Someone thinks P2W is when cash shop even exists, regardless of what is inside it.

Of course, you can use statistics, and answer based on what (you assume) majority of players consider a pay to win, but then you would have to write this post a lot more precisely, and specify that you answer with that assumption, rather then just answering "yes it is" or "no it isn't". 😉

So the best answer you can write in thread of this type is write what will game have, and then let people decide for themselves if they consider a game P2W or no.

      For example:

Fractured MMO will have a cash shop that sells cosmetics and possibly some convenience (we don't exactly know what exact items will be available) and there will be optional subscription that will let you progress a bit faster with learning new skills, and offering some extra convenience.

However since players will have no levels, and there will be limited slots on your skill bar, progression speed, as such, only offers a minor advantage, where people with subscription can reach higher ranks of skills a bit quicker, but every player will eventually reach maximum ranks, even without subscription.

There, you can decide for yourself if this is P2W for you or not. 😉

Also consider that you can play this game for free forever (by only paying 30 eur, one time, on start, or less if you were a part of kick starter).

    • RE: Will it be possible to create secret guilds or organizations

You don't need game help to create a secret society. The point of secret society is that there is no visible markers that you belong to one, only members know each other and work together toward some agenda.

So use discord, have closed channels and invite people to there to communicate.

There you go, you have a full fledged secret society.

And some versions of me got banned... I wonder who was the one who triggered me in those realities. 🤔

The only restrictions are about where you can build your house, and which guild you can join, and you can influence that by changing your karma and alignment with a certain play style.

I'm hoping for a PM in discord (if the very fact that invites have started has to be a secret) 😉 or general discord message that first wave of invites is starting (if it can be known that invites have started). 🙂

Just in case if I don't go to check my e-mail for a day or two.

      @wolfkomodo46 probably not yet. 🙂

Pre-aplha forum section has to be ready before an actual pre-alpha launches, because that section will surely become very busy as soon as it starts.

Perhaps even before it launches, "error 4158-B when launching Fractured.exe" anyone? 😉

    • RE: Special weekly market

Thing is Fractured will not be based on quest lines. 🙂

And economy will be fully player based, and items player crafted. So this idea, even though it might be cool, will likely not be implemented.

However, players will be able to put their own products on market stands. So what you wish here can easily work, just instead of NPC sellers, players will be sellers.

Bunch of players agree on location, bring their own stuff, put stands, and sell. Even better then NPCs, more lively.

      @00

I liked Toms Hardware Guide in earlier days, but haven't followed them for a while, so I'm not sure if they are still objective.
But they have nice forums, with lots of user comments so you can check around their forums a bit.

    • RE: Pinatas, catatonia, and Montgomery Scott (or what matters the most to me in MMOs)

I will tell you why I love sand-boxy games.

It's because they put focus on player community, and social aspects of the game, rather then on theme-park elements.

Theme-park games isolate players from each other more, because an actual content is fully defined in the game files, and player community is just there to consume it.

In sand-boxy games, player community creates the good part of the content, and players work together much more then in theme park games. Community grows better, and game usually lives longer (not only being dependent on new expansions).

Now this is not only valid in PvE. It is valid in PvP as well.

Part of people might not agree with me here, but, in my opinion, in sandbox game PvP (same like in PvE), players are supposed to work together and act as community.

If few thieves are bothering someone, don't say "it's not my business", but rather help your neighbor, or when you will be the bothered one, your neighbor will ignore you as well.

People complain about PvP (thieves, murderers) a lot, while refusing to be a community that helps each other, just wishing to solo grind wood and fish.

That way, of course you will not have a good time. And it's your own fault. It's not the thieves fault.

Build your community, help each other, and observe how thieving in game doesn't floorish anymore.

If you are looking for a game where you will be protected from thieves by forced game mechanics, then honestly, sand-box games aren't for you. You might consider playing a theme park game better.

If you wish to play a sandbox game, then you will have to work with your community to protect yourself. It's just how it's supposed to work.

Playing a sand-box game, but complaining to devs to protect you from PvP... I'm sorry but in this scenario you are the problem, and not how the game works.

      Thanks for reading. 😉

(special note: all this is one players opinion, you are free to disagree)

    • RE: Weave Fracture cataclysm, Elysium lore into exploration

Yeah, it's not crucial to have a lot's of lore right at the start.

This might be even better. Lore collection can grow over time, and we as players, can actually have an affect on lore like that. Fractured being sand-boxy as it will be, players can drive the story, and affect on how it evolves.

Over time DS could gather some of the stories that happened, and place them in library books in game, and perhaps intertwine them with stories about Elysium gods, and grow lore over time bit by bit.

This doesn't sound bad to me.

    • RE: Let's pray for sick Blizzard :(

      @zidroc

I played on 2 servers back in the day, simply because I had too.

I played on PvP server with my first main (undead mage). I played in one of the better PvP guilds. Organized matches with teamspeak and people knowing not only how to play their own class, but also how to play as a team, was super fun.

However, most of people on PvP servers were focused on, yeah you guess, PvP 🙂 so there weren't any super successful PvE raiding guilds there. PvE raiding there was mediocre at best. So I had to have another main (nightelf druid) on a PvE server, enlisted in a raiding guild that raided the high end content.

That is how I was able to have the best of both worlds, raiding with PvE guild when raiding days were, and rest of the days, having real PvP matches with a PvP guild. (PvP matches on PvE server happened, but they were mostly PuGs, and organized teams there, honestly, just weren't on the same level as teams on PvP server).

So having characters on both (PvP and PvE) servers was a must back then, if you wanted to do both, top PvE, and have an actual challenge in PvP.

Now days, at least on private vanilla servers, people are all experienced veterans and know how to play both PvP and PvE, so you can have it all by playing just on a PvP server, both raiding and PvP.
