I don't know about actual walls that last forever, but it would be cool to have a divine power that can put a shield over your campsite for maybe a few days, but could only be used like every week.
Few days every week, lmao. That's like half the time. xD
(also remember, there is a whole planet designed for safety if that's your concern)

RE: Hello bois few questions

I know that stuff. I plan to probably solo play demon planet. What i meant was how hard it is for example compared to soloing black zones in albion which is equivalent to demon planet in fractured, free for all pvp no rules. Basically how much there is skill involved in combat compared to just numbers.
Fractured is a lot more based on skill, because gear will be more or less equal for everyone. There will be no OP gear, due to player progression not being based on gear but on knowledge (horizontal progression).
So: skill > gear
Numbers wise, since gear is not a factor, Prometheus said that if you have stronger skill than others, you will probably be able to kill 2-3 players solo.
So although you CAN out skill players and stand decently on your own, you will not be able to solo an entire full party. This is not MMO where you can get OP gear, then use your skills to become a god.
Gear will be customizable and situational, it will not grow in power as you customize it, it will only get more fitting for different situations (fire damage instead of water damage, nature resistance instead of frost resistance, etc).
And you can't know what players you will engage in advance (what builds) so you can't just put on fitting gear, use your skills and rule. Occasionally it might happen, that you engage a group of lesser skilled fire mages, and you have fire resistance gear AND better skill, and you own 8 of them... but this will happen so rarely.
In most scenarios, numbers will rule.
So: group size (factoring in team organisation / quality of team leadership) > personal player skills > gear

RE: Importance of attributes triggering repetition?
@jetah said in Importance of attributes triggering repetition?:
What if some gear has attribute stats, and thereโs gear that increases the stat cap.
According to everything we know, there isn't, and there will not be as it would interfere with core game stat mechanics.

RE: Importance of attributes triggering repetition?
I would like for player to be able to choose custom skills on start (out of allowed skills to chose), however to do this player should click on "custom" button, and get a warning that if he doesn't know what he's doing, he might get not so good character on start.
And then if player disregards the warning, and creates a bad starting character it's on him (deserved).
Meanwhile people who would like to customize their characters to the max on start are able to do that, and aren't prevented for the sole reason to "protect" players that are stupid.

RE: Newsletter Email
Advice: if you are using gmail, create custom folders and custom filters, and make them sort important mail in appropriate folders, not marking it as spam (that's what I do).
For example for Fractured: I made a separate folder called Fractured, and created filter that sends mail from official Fractured addresses to that folder. You can put "not a spam" check mark in filter (among other check marks).
This is how Fractured mail never ends up as Spam, and never mixes (get lost) with other mail. I always find it in own folder.

RE: Custom Buildings?
I would guess that houses will remain fixed and tied to blueprints, but interior might be modular. Players could get to decorate interior with a bit more freedom.

@dokuwan said in Hello bois few questions:
I just recently found out about this game and it looks interesting.
How viable will solo play be compared to Albion Online for example?
In Fractured there are 3 planets (one PvE planet and two PvP planets), on one planet (Arboreus, PvE planet) you can solo no problem, and you can do it safely. But to have an option to play safely there you must play as beast kin race. Other 2 planets are full loot open PvP, and be sure that solo will be very hard there, and it will be recommended to play in guild (with friends) to have better chance of survival.

@Gothix
So it's possible.. got it.Anything is possible.
The question is weather it's worth the time / resource investment to develop / maintain it.

RE: Would you rather...?
Would you rather play Fractured at a desk in the middle of the street, while being completely naked or never play Fractured at all?

@gothix
Couldnโt a rule be coded to prevent multiple players from targeting the same exact spot.Yes but a lag can be a B... among many other issues. Sync could be very troublesome.
Now imagine 100 players or more battle over who will modify terrain in same time. Each player having different lag, each using different modification. It "could be done" but making this right would take huge amount of development resources, and even then glitches and issues could be found through game play that would require further fixing, depending on how it would react with multiple other things (other spells - water freezing ie., if we get ships in the future, fishing in those spots, using spell on edge areas, etc.).
I simply do not thing it's worth the trouble. It just brings up too many other issues, and it's a development resource hog.

RE: Forum signture question
@FXguy I'm gonna throw a wild guess you'll be playing tiger kin.
-
RE: I want this type of 'environment interaction'!
The issue will not be if one or two players start modifying environment.
Fractured will however (due to Spatial OS) allow a huge amount of players to play near each other. Issue may arise when major amount of players attempt to start modifying the same spots on map in same time, and the least problem would be a slowdown of a game, because more sever issues could arise glitching a terrain with huge amount of players trying to modify it in different way all in same time.

RE: Secrets in game
@Lunotto In fact a major part of this game is a secret.
There are no levels and player progression is based on learning new skills (there is 400 possible skills and abilities that character can learn).
Where these skills are located (knowledge about them) in fact a... secret.
You will need to explore the world, fight monsters, engage in various activities, and some of those activities will contain secret knowledge that will enable you to learn a particular ability.
Some knowledge will be easier to find and some will be hidden very well. You will have to do a lot of those things you wanted to do to learn those secrets.

@gothix the hallmark of a poor debater right there. I am still not sure why you are here.
It's impossible to debate with someone whose arguments are illogical and completely false statements (like statement that I'm the only one who would like WASD), sorry. There is just nothing more to say when someone says something like that. I rather pull out from pointless waste of words.
And if you have difficulty understanding why people (including myself) are here, I'm sorry but that's your own problem. I will not bother trying to explain it to you.

RE: How creative will the cosmetic character creation be?
There are probably some areas not worth investing into, like customizing color of eyes by offering millions of colors, or customizing eyebrows by making players able to use vector transformation to align their angle as they like, and stuff like that.
On the other hand some parts of character customization do make sense even in isometric game, like overall body build, height, weight, perhaps haircuts, and stuff like that. Things that are noticeable even from isometric perspective.
So offering an advanced character customization should (imo) mean advancing those parts of customization that make sense. Adding more hair styles, improving character build customization options, etc.
