"The next time we’ll make sure to avoid mentioning a specific month and indicate a quarter instead."

That's the way, avoid missing deadlines by giving vague dates! 😄

Jokes aside, keep up the good work, you deserve every single success you obtain because your idea and dedication are really good!

And I haven't played the game yet! 😄

    • RE: Kickstarter Items

@Farlander unless I misunderstood they should work like skins that you can apply to your armor set.
That means that whenever you acquire a new armor set you can just reapply your earned skin on it.
It whould work like skins in Guild Wars 2, for example.
Or maybe I've got it wrong and they're just a one shot item and it can be lost or stolen.
If I'm right, by the way, it means that if someone steals your fancy armor, they'll get the basic version one anyway, since they don't have the skin to apply on it.

    • RE: New World Alpha Launches Today!

      @Stacy555 ssshhhhhhhhhhh!
I'm in true pain because Ashes of Creation is not even close to release yet!
I actually bought New World because I thought it could have sustained me while waiting for Ashes of Creation, then BAM, Fractured came along, smashing New World to the ground... 😛

    • RE: Tech Tree, Marketplace & Money For Dynamight

      @WaterMerchant that's a really good concern, I didn't think about it.
In fact, where would a guild without a city do its stuff in general?
Being the game not instanced you can't have the equivalent of a guild hall somewhere since you can't have it in the real world, so without a city your guild power will be severely limited.
This can though generate some interesting interactions, for example a guild sponsoring another guild by triggering a war to conquer a city for it, or something like that.
Or maybe they'll just implement other ways to wage war.

    • RE: March Winter Alpha?

@drfate786 I disagree, a lot of companies announce a quarter as indications for alphas and betas, and a quarter is a three months span, where they can float back and forth and narrow down a solid date while they get closer to that period.
Alpha testing is good for unfinished games, a small dev team is composed of few people, so allowing users to test too widens the amount of heads that can find bugs and exploits, and since the devs are also playing their game, it's still better than not allowing users to test too, there are literally no drawbacks.
What they did wrong they've already apologized for: giving a month they couldn't delivery, I hope they're not doing it again with march, but I'm confident they'll be able to start the alpha in the next weeks (even if winter is almost over and the winter alpha will end up being a spring alpha).
As they already stated, they'll be more vague with future alpha dates, like every other company does, and as I've already said, even Amazon had to delay a lot after giving precise dates, so sadly expecting that everything will always be as expected just doesn't apply to the real world.

    • RE: 3 Planets, 3 Different Games?

@Xulu they will be three planets with different rules, with the possibility to travel from one to another, I don't think we know yet how this planet travel will work, but I've read somewhere that it's going to be a "Great cooperative effort" to move from a planet to another.
This combined with the fact that foreign races will have a forced limited time on another planet will ensure that demon outbreaks on Arboreus (for example) will be very limited in occurrence and duration.
I'm not scared at all by this, actually, demons will be able to stay like 30 minutes on Arboreus and they will be highly debuffed by the planet, every mob will be hostile to them and resident beastmen will have buffs to counter them, so I guess it will not be something to be concerned about at all.

    • RE: Menu mobile devices

@GamerSeuss I was about to make an anti-Apple comment too but I didn't want to be first at that... 😛
Sadly buying Apple means accepting an hight-cost low-compatibility device, and newer Apple politics will push further in that direction, they want to be elite, they end up being alone.

    • About This Forum Engine

With the rise of social networks it's been a while since last time I've been active on a forum, so I clearly missed the improvements in forum engines.
      In fact, this forum rocks!
Is this a new famous forum engine or did the developing team write this one too?
(For reference I remember stuff like Invision Power Board, PHPBB, Forumfree and stuff like that, and they are light years back away from this one!)

    • RE: Fast travel between main cities

@yneternum ah you mean the two starting towns, I see!
I don't know if it's intentional that they are inland and not on the coast.
It might be useful if they were coastal now that you mention it, so you could already have a fast travel between north and south, of course always at a cost and even if player drive cities are not developed yet.
But now that I say it out loud (or write it down, in this case), maybe it's intentional that you cannot fast move in the initial phase of the game, and maybe it's intentional that fast travel via harbor has to be earned.

    • RE: Been a while since I've played, questions.

@Xulu it's normal to lose interest between testing phases, life goes on, it happened to me with some games I've backed and ended up never playing actually... 😕
That said, for what I know:

      1. You can have crafting stations at your house
      2. You can farm materials even if you don't belong to a city
      3. No update on other planets yet

    • RE: About This Forum Engine

@PeachMcD thanks for the welcoming post! 😄
I was actually talking about the forum engine itself, but as you point out the forum is actually really cool also for what matters people posting in it... 🙂
In my opinion a healthy and respectful community is crucial in keeping a game enjoyable for long.
The business model looks good for now, P2W is always a bad decision on the long run if you want quality, and cosmetic and little QoL paid items are ok, even more if there is a way to aquire them from other players with in game currency, which still generates money for the company and doesn't cut off people completely from stuff.
For what matters guilds, since I bought the game recently I haven't played a single alpha yet, so I don't know, I think I'll spend the very first time as I always do: messing around and finding out stuff, then I'll think about it... 🙂

    • RE: coming from albion

@Zaxaman as @mansair said you will be able to play alphas when they occur, next one is on 31st March and it should last about a full month.

Steam version is currently not available, since the game is in early stage and Steam community is usually really harsh towards unfinished games, realeasing on Steam could easily backfire in a second.

    • RE: Feb Playtest?? Lesssgoooooo...

@Bierbaron no news about it as far as I could see, and trying to log into the client today still says "Late February 2021".
I can understand delays and the impossibility to give a certain new date for alpha start tho.

    • Fast Key To Deposit And Withdraw

Something like Alt+Click or Shift+Click or the like, to move stuff fast between two open containers, for example between inventory and bank chest, with stuff going in stack with other stuff already present, instead of dragging every single item and finding the correspondent one in the chest.
It would be a really cool QoL improvement! 🙂
(Of course no hurry, bugs and balance issues first!)

    • RE: Please please please!

@Denyde swapping mouse buttons for movement and attack should definitely be an option!
Fixes will be made, of course, some movements are not registered or stop randomly, maybe lag involved too.
Server is not that bad actually, maybe it's just a little far from you, and during test phase you don't want to invest too much money on server power anyway.

    • Character Field of View: Out of Screen Nameplates

Currently you can only see other characters and their names when they pop into your screen view, while you can hear off screen sounds like combat or rabbit walking (how can be rabbits so noisy???).
This rises a red flag to me: first of all, your character field of view is actually tied to your hardware, your monitor.
A character in a 4:3 monitor sees differently from a character in a 16:9, which is a problem, since you shouldn't tie a game mechanic (field of view) to a part of hardware (the monitor).

If there is something Albion Online did really well, it was the out of screen nameplate fading, which addresses two main problems:

      1. It makes the character field of view circular and larger than the actual screen, so that it can match for example the hearing radius, allowing to use attributes as perception to increase or decrease this field of view.
      2. Gives a little anticipation about who is about to come in contact with you, allowing to chose to run away from gankers, for example, or to detect a players you're farming with when he gets a pixel out of your screen.

      Why is this important?
I think issues, when found, should be addressed before they become real game breaking problems, and so far the ganking system seems unfair, since a ganker can walk around listening to someone farming (fight sounds can be heard way before characters can be seen) and can then come from north or south, giving unreasonably little time to react to the gank, since in 16:9 monitors (the majority now, I suppose) your vertical field of view is almost half compared to horizontal one.

Now I know it's not something that should go over red bug fixing and stuff like that, but it's not only QoL either, this is an important piece of game mechanic, aimed at making the interaction between gankers and farmers more balanced (works the other way around too, when bounty hunters will be ganking evildoer).

To prevent some of the more obvious/toxic responses to this:

      1. No, I'm not ranting because I've been gaked, I'm still under new player protection, but while farming I've noticed how little warning I had when red players came into my field of view, while they were guided by the sound of fight.
      2. No, "git gud" is not a solution, there will always be someone better skilld or better geared, and unless you want the game to become a wild PvP experience (making new players just stay away), you'll want to address the issue.
      3. No, go in group is not totally a solution, for two reasons: one is because gankers can move in groups too, two because the game is said to be build around the possibility for solo players to actually play.
      4. No, play beastman is not a solution either, because if you reason that way you'll end up with two full PvP worlds and one full PvE one, no nice balanced world in the middle.

      That said, let's discuss! 🙂
