    • In Game Memorial for Players that Die as a Suggestion

I would like to suggest that the team come up with some way to honour our dead, be it a memorial section of a town roster, or better yet, a cemetery in a local churchyard where we can inter our dead and put up a monument.

In another game I play, one of our very prominent players passed away this week. His home is enshrined by the game as a memorial to the player forever.

Players are able to conduct a memorial service of sorts, all gathering at the shrine together and we can change our names to messages of condolence to support each other in our mourning.

I would think that having some kind of funeral garb to wear when a player dies in real life, might be something that would appeal to some here as well, whether they choose to wear it permanently or not, an armband or such for a time of mourning would be welcome for many.

Having a permanent place in town though, either their home becomes memorialised or you can put a monument to them in a graveyard, or in the case of a very prominent citizen, a statue in town if they were important enough in that town would be a very nice thing to consider as a service to players who have lost a real life friend.

RIP Keith, sad I won't get to play this one with you, was looking forward to it.

    • RE: Suggestions for porting a guild from another game?

@dordolio It's early times yet, I have have a couple fractured people on my discord. Currently we do a lot of propaganda posts between our Russian and American friends with some UK and Slovakian love and abuse thrown in. It's always quiet this time of year and most of our chat rooms are locked so the Fractured one is quiet and likely will be till the game is on.

But you are most definitely welcome there, feel free to jump in and chat. When you join the bot will ask you to say where you belong so that while I'm sleeping, someone else can give you access to the rooms you need. Just say you're from fractured, you'll have access to those rooms as well as our general non game chat, one of which is the propaganda bullshitting room. Oh, and the spam room if you want to play with the bot or the translator. I have it muted so often forget it is there.

I tolerate a lot on my discord, it's quiet right now so it might grow on you but I've had people tell me it's a little too edgy for them. That's just the political bullshit in the propaganda channel and a few resident trolls though. Feel free to join in or not, I expect our fractured rooms to pick up as soon as alpha/prealpha start. I will be locking one room as soon as prealpha starts, and we will make our own guild room as well. (I always have one locked one open, but in the case of prealpha, that room if I need to make it, will have to be private)

      https://discord.gg/SUwz8Au

and if you haven't joined the fractured official one, then please do, you'll get coffee when it's quiet.

    • RE: What do you think about the humans?

Yeah, I really am looking forward to the spotlight that tells us about the human tech. Will there be a mechanical spider mount? (please!) They say we'll be able to alter the humans with tech, so can we turn them into steampunk cyborgs? I can't wait to find out just how much the tech will change the human race, it's the one thing that just MIGHT make me go human.

    • RE: Looking for a guild to join.

Don't join a guild until you get to know a few of the people in them first. It's always the most fun to play with people you like. (I don't recruit for mine, I just steal all of Specter's problem children)

I recommend joining the discord as well as being active in the forums. I prefer discord as you can actually chat with people. It's been relatively quiet lately, but you do get a good feel for people there, more so than here.

But definitely pick out people who you like, you can click "follow" on their profile so that when they post, it notifies you. That way if someone seems to have a decent head on their shoulders, you can find out what guild they're in, and then look at posts from other guild mates and see if it's a good fit.

Ideally, people will find good people that they like. Sadly, until the game actually starts, you're not going to know if they're going to be fun people to actually play with too. So if you do pick one now, don't be afraid to guild hop later if it turns out once the game starts to be a bad fit.

    • RE: Titles - Need or want?

at the very least, buy the cheap pack, that gets you the game for a little less than what cost will be. Then hang out here as they release more info and upgrade your pledge to something that suits you better once you find out which that is.

You'll be supporting the kickstarter to reach its goal, which will allow them to hire the people they need to get the game here sooner than later, and can upgrade to something else later. If you decide not to upgrade, but are content with waiting for the full game to come out, you'll still have been on the forums for long enough to get some nice swag once the game comes out based on your foundation level, and gotten the game for less than retail.

      @Prometheus

Something that's a teaser, that you're working on and can share, that isn't in a spotlight yet.

Even just drop in a pic of something you're developing that we haven't seen yet. Or an update to something you've shared but has changed.

    • RE: July 24th Housing & Towns Q&A: List Your Questions

What race specific technologies exist housing/town wise that may impact the choice of race a player takes? Will beastman houses decay slower when made of natural materials for example? Will humans be able to integrate technology into their homes and towns, such as build robots to protect them, rather than rely only on npcs? Will demons be able to use demon magic to make their homes and towns less detectable?

    • RE: [PvP Poll] If you had to chose, what type of PvP do like more?

I chose predatory group open world, because directed pvp, like attacking an enemy guild or base or specific target can be a lot more rewarding than just attacking randomly because you run into someone. Sure, you can get lucky doing that, but I find out that someone is running a rare item from point a to point b, you can bet I'm going to drop anything else and go hunting. An enemy guild has a town with shitty defences? Siege is on. An ally guild is under siege from an enemy? On our way...

    • RE: Info on Changes to Guild Cities

I believe the intention is to have buildings available in towns and cities that you cannot access outside of them. Research is just one of them, technology and production buildings as well. Then throw in guild specific buildings and you can imagine that there is definite benefit to joining a city, especially if you are part of a guild. There will just be some things you can't do if you don't have access to a city. Being a member of one will grant you this access, otherwise you'll need to trade for the items you cannot make yourself.

If you want to access some of the game aspects, like travel to asteroids and other worlds, it'll likely require group effort to create the portals, I don't even know if it is possible to build the special technologies on the human world solo, or without the higher tier production buildings only possible in a town.

We also know that there will be some NPC trades available in towns... and having one set as a home base ensures you can quickly access gear if you have to resurrect at home, if you're solo, you have to have the items on hand already.

I'm certain there are other benefits outside of trades and technology as well, I recall hearing that towns will be able to implement a guard system as just one example.

So it seems that without living in a town and going solo, you will need to rely heavily on trade with others, and may still be unable to access some aspects of the game if others don't wish to give it to you.

Of course, it has been a really long time since we've had any updates to this, things may be even more complicated than I mention, or they may decide to throw in more for the self sufficient player that I'm not aware of.

    • RE: Common misconceptions of "Alpha Testers", and expectations?

I just try to find stuff to break, the pre alpha, I moved inventory in my bag around over and over and over again to see if I could glitch it. (did, ended up making stuff without collecting stuff, bug fixed) There's a lot more to actually DO now.... so I'm going to still try to break stuff, but also have some fun.

Do I wish I could play the game already? Of course! But I'm happy in the meantime to just help them make it into a game.... it's a lot less boring now than it was in the beginning, every test they add something new. It's also a good way to get to know the game before it's out, and be a part of any changes if they decide to make them. I mean, if testers decide they absolutely hate something, simply having it in the design journal doesn't mean they need to keep it for the actual game... but because I am invested in this game (both literally and figuratively) I want my voice to be one they hear when changes are discussed.

So yeah, I'll still try to break stuff, but also want to see gameplay for testing too.... otherwise, how are the devs to know if aspects of the gameplay they have already implemented are keepers if we don't actually have some game to play, right?

So for those who are complaining about stuff they can't do yet, or stuff they don't like already, it's still good feedback for the devs. Maybe if enough of us complain about mounts, they'll be in the next survey as an option for the next test.... that's how it's been working so far, and if it ain't broke, why fix it?

    • RE: opinion on most recent alpha test

A craft all for making food and other items would be nice

Monsters could do with some blood on the ground when they die maybe even look a little damaged

If you are left click attacking a mob it will try loot the dead mobs mid combat and put a big loot box in the middle of the screen

I especially like these comments in particular.

    • How to Build a House and How to Abandon a House.

This is for the "Rustic 3x3" blueprint, as other blueprints become available during other testing phases, I'll try to update this tutorial. For this particular house though, you'll need a total of 25 stone and 75 wood.

First, you need to find a plot of land, which might take you some time. I ran around for close to 40 minutes to find an empty spot for a screenshot, during the open weekend stress test in Feb 2020. There were no town spaces during this test, though I expect houses on the different worlds to look different, I'm sure the basic methods of collect, click and collect and click will follow this example.

Here is what an open spot looks like by the way, you can see this in the mini map in the upper left corner. If the square is yellow, no one has claimed it yet.

      unclaimed.PNG

Click the ruins, they look like this:
      unclaimed 2.PNG

You'll get a popup asking if you really want to claim this area. This helps in case you're running through an area and not intending to claim one. I suggest you find an area with a lot of resources nearby. (Hint, you need a lot more wood than you do stone)
      abandon 3.PNG

Once you have claimed the spot, the ruins disappear and the land is plotted out with markers, it looks like this:

      claimed.PNG

Then you can click "V" to choose your blueprint, this is the one we're using for this test, though there will eventually be others available in this list.

      choose blueprint.PNG

There will be a blue grid marked out at this point, upon which you can lay down how you want your house to be placed. If the house turns red, it's not able to sit where you want it. Ensure that there are no carts, or items in the footprint of the house. Once you have it where you want it and facing the direction you want it, (use q or w to rotate it) then right click to place it. The blueprint shows the fully built house.

      lay blueprint down.PNG

The foundation pillars are the first layer, they require 12 blocks of stone.

      first layer.PNG

You'll see an animation of your character building as you add to each section.

      building with stone.PNG

At this point, if you haven't already, you may wish to grab a cart to collect building supplies with, get used to this view:

      go get some supplies.PNG

Once the footings are complete, the next part of the foundation becomes visible, it requires an additional 11 blocks of stone.

      first done.PNG

The next layer is the floor, and it needs 2 blocks of stone, and 15 blocks of wood.

      layer 3.PNG

After this, there are wall struts to place, requiring 12 more blocks of wood.

      layer 4.PNG

Next come the walls, they take the most of any section, needing 33 blocks of wood. I actually ended up using 2 carts to build with before I reached this point.

      layer 5.PNG

Lastly, the door takes 5 blocks of wood.

      layer 6.PNG

The house then completes itself with the addition of a roof.

      done.PNG

This one took me around an hour and a half to complete, though I already had the carts made, and some supplies collected... because I already had a house, but wanted to make a tutorial for those who keep asking how.

Here was my first house, you'll note I changed the orientation for the second, because, why not.
      abandon 1.PNG

So, this is how to destroy a house, and yes, you do lose everything, even the items you place outside, despite what the warning says.

First, click the house button at the bottom of the screen, you'll get this popup:

      abandon 2.PNG

And then it will return to ruins and be available for someone to claim again.
