RE: Roadmap To Fall Alpha 2021
@OlivePit to my understanding 95% of beast planet is no PVP.
-
RE: Roadmap To Fall Alpha 2021
@GamerSeuss yes i agree, and no one said they need to change, and to work on the beast planet, just people said what they fear will happen.

@GamerSeuss said in Roadmap To Fall Alpha 2021:
A lot of companies have different project teams working on the different systems in the early stages, independently, only meeting periodically to appraise each other of their own progress and changes, until they move into the integration step. These independent project teams would run completely separate Alphas, or what was sometimes called Pre-Alphas to test just their raw systems in a vacuum before bringing them together with the whole.
I'm sure there were teams out there doing other methods as well, and I've probably spaced on other methods I've been involved with (or didn't know about as I only came in as a Beta in those) as people are always trying to find a better way of doing things, but in general, most companies still don't worry about building their player base until they are closer to a launch except mayhaps via the hype train, not the Testing phases. This is why it is so nice that Fractured allows actual broadcast of Alpha testing, as usually, companies keep Alpha footage under wraps and carefully selects and cleans up any footage they put in promotional videos.well i respect your knowledge, but we not talking about "building their player base" we talking about their core mechanic that people hate, and its not the first MMO, many MMO have this issue, the PVP system and the interaction with PVE players is maybe the most core mechanic in the game...
if people feel that they are gatekept from the end game gameplay since they PVE players, and they are bait for PVP player (which is the minority of players BTW ) then your game is not good, and you can see many failed MMO with is issue. -
RE: Roadmap To Fall Alpha 2021
@GamerSeuss im glad you had the privilege's to test beta since 90s, but your experience, is not what the all industry ran by, and yes i said most companies, not all.

RE: Roadmap To Fall Alpha 2021
@GamerSeuss it only partly true...
Its true that in the past alpha was usually close, but was teated in house for the same staff that it test today, and it is the base machanic enjoyabelty, and yes its true it was usually base machnic without the need to combined them, or make them for a full system that you can play as a player...
While beta might be open more* its usually was way too late to change base machanic since its meaning more badaget and returning to alpha stage.*By the way since i done games 15 years ago, i can tell you that in the past beta was in house too, the indestry changed a lot from the days i started, but the basic didn't: alpha is base machanic enjoyabelty, beta is patching it all up and fixing bugs and QOL features.

RE: Roadmap To Fall Alpha 2021
@GamerSeuss well since i am teaching programing, and been 15 years in the game industry, im not saying that alpha test isn't a test, and yes there is no QOL mechanic, but alpha test point is to test the core mechanic, to see if people enjoy playing them, its early enough to make this base system change if people hate them... you do not check for miner bugs, you check your game to make sure is fun and enjoyable.
and if so many people leave or give you bad comments, then something is wrong... -

They need to get the actual mix of PvP on Syndesia balanced, and thus, a major thrust of the Alpha Testing is on that very principal. You don't ever run an Alpha test purely to make the game appear fun for a group of players...that is never the goal. Too many people are treating the Alpha as just some early access to the game, and considering it by that standard because they have no idea what it means to Alpha test a game in the first place.
its seems that you do not understand the point of games, if the game isn't fun in alpha, he will not be fun after release....
the point of testing, makeing sure the game is balance in a way that is fun for the players.and you constantly replaying to people like you one of the devs, and not a good dev, you only try to defend old notion of thinking, and lame outdated gameplays that failed in the past...
maybe try to let the dev answer ? -
RE: Roadmap To Fall Alpha 2021
@r6G4596Y7G9AwD0TzJTxFSZx there is the beast planet where no PVP allowed, as along as there is high level and end game play in this planet, and its not just bait to force you to go PVP later on, you will have fun and will have place in the game.
i seen some started to say this hatred notion of "HIGH RISK - HIGH REWARED", and that will be the death of the game, same as many games before, it should be "high skill - high reward" or "high investment - high reward" or both.... but never "high risk - high reward". -
RE: Roadmap To Fall Alpha 2021
@GamerSeuss im sorry but i disagree with all that you wrote.

RE: Roadmap To Fall Alpha 2021
@Prometheus I felt there was no progression to items, a wizard made his items and then was static for the rest of the game till he could enchant them, and then again static.
the same goes to for warrior +3 more items before metal, this is boring, sorry.
last test i didn't play i felt that you understand the game very fast reach to max very fast and get bored very fast as a PVE player.
and i think its very good you guys added the changes, but i do not think its enough, its still feel like you will not make changes in your gear frequently, nor that you would not want to work hard for getting something that will help your gear.
i think the line of horizontal progression, do not work for gear, and need to get more like staircase steps, where achieving something in the world would allow you to upgrade your items more frequently, and while every step will be small, there might be big differences between new players that done nothing in game to old player that played for years.
and lets be honest, the skill system and the point system isn't horizontal progression either, a new player would have no skills while old player would have all/ a lot of skills.maybe make the gem system to added indefinitely in very small steps, and so you can just jump to the game as a new player and if you join your friends, and want to PVP immediately, they will give you a stack of gems, and your ready...

RE: The decision for public vs citizens-only crafting stations should be made by Governors, not Dynamight
@spoletta this is only semantic differences. horizontal progression, doesn't mean that you can't get better for a fight agents different bosses, since if play more you will have better suited skills and encampments.
a day 1 player will not be as strong as 1 year player, no matter how you wanna call it.
and 10 day 1 shouldn't be stronger then 1 year solo player, and i do not think they will be even with horizontal progression. -
RE: The decision for public vs citizens-only crafting stations should be made by Governors, not Dynamight
@GamerSeuss even in Horizontal you can farm for the skills that you need, and with the right skills some creatures are a lot easer...
I do not see the difference between what you said and what I said. -
RE: The decision for public vs citizens-only crafting stations should be made by Governors, not Dynamight
@GamerSeuss the level of the battle/event shouldn't be a subject of who try to defeat said challenge.
if a solo player got to a level he can do a boss then there shouldn't be a game mechanic that prevent that... and he should get all the reward for that boss.
that what @Nekrage basically keep asking, game mechanic that will prevent solo players to get powers, and become stronger. -
RE: Winter Alpha Spotlight – City Overhaul
@Prometheus cool, then i have no issue with this
-
RE: Winter Alpha Spotlight – City Overhaul
@Prometheus i seen the Q&A and i think there is some issue.
in the last test the advantage of a big guild vs solo/small was 100% to 0%, there was nothing to do as a small/solo.
the change you shown in the video change the advantage 40% to 60% for big guild vs solo/small.
and now in the Q&A you changed it back to 80% to 20% big guild vs solo/small.
the main issue is that there is no incentive for big guilds to want the solo play to be in the area, they can force them to join the guild by bulling them and kill them, and make sure they can't do nothing without paying high tax.
its how it working in AO.
you need to make sure the big guild will want the solo small players to be in this area, maybe connect the amount of players that live around the city to the research available to the city, so if you want asshole and grief solo players as a guild you will pay for it in your technological advances. -

@grofire
Firstly this game is Full Loot PvP, I'm not sure if what I said got lost in translation but full loot pvp ( Meaning your entire inventory is lootable on death) is present no matter what world you are on.no its not, on the beast planet there will be no PVP 99% of the planet....
and there will be no loot on death there.... -
RE: Winter Alpha Spotlight – City Overhaul
@WaterMerchant please do not offer people not to play this game, especially when you wrong, this is not a full PVP game !!!! this is all gameplay welcome game.
