    • RE: WoW Classic is coming

      I know already it will be different than old retail vanilla, even mechanically in some aspects. They are changing some things around.. I'll just add an example of changing parry cap to 14% for warriors at raid bosses, which will make raid bosses parry more against tanks, and each parry triggers increased attack speed gained by boss for a while.. which will then hit harder on tanks.

      Vanilla has been min/maxed to the point where a fury tank with no shield can get healed through nearly any boss with appropriate level gear while not wearing a shield 90% of the time. The extra damage is pretty irrelevant, what is relevant is threat. I can totally see good rogues/warriors intentionally attacking from the front when they're gonna get threat capped, to increase the tank's RPS=TPS.

      Warrior - slow leveler, but great to play at max level. Can hold it's own in PvP, and needed class for raiding (great DPS if played as DPS, and the only real tank). For raiding warrior is really rewarding class choice. However, you are adviced to have a different grinding alt then, as warrior is not the most effective grinder compared to some other classes.

      I would add that fury is probably the most "fun"/hectic class for PVE. You can do some really retarded/fun stuff when trying to cheese for high DPS logs, like, I've very fond memories of getting world #1 twin emps every week for a month, and losing it to another warrior doing the same thing by literally just rounding up the scarabs and AoEing them down while sit spamming to keep enrage while half of our healers do nothing but turrent heal me because I have the scrab dot stacked on me to like 50. There are lots of places you can do that sorta stuff when your healers are geared enough, like sitting in AoE intentionally, tanking trash with no mitigation gear, that kinda thing.

      The biggest downside to warrior IMO is literally (((like, literal use of the word literally))) every single class counters you in 1v1, and in team fights/BGs post AQ they're actually kinda garbage, too. In MC level gear, warriors are going to kindof suck in PVP, because their T1 set is pretty garbage, but all of their counter classes (mage, warlock, hunter) have pretty good T1 sets. That said, 1-2 warriors will still be desired in RBGs at least until naxx is out, and the 1.12.1 itemization helps warriors A LOT between BWL-Naxx if they get rank 13/14.

      Hunter - the best class for leveling, and for solo (single target) grinding. It can also hold it's own in PvP. However in raiding, post MC, it scales very poorly, and you will never be anywhere near the top of DPS charts in raids. So if that's important for you, do not chose hunter.

      IMO hunter is THE BEST open world ganker, if that's your thing. The only classes that can really fight them are like: druid(if EXTREMELY geared as feral/boomkin, so, basically these don't exist), warlocks, and Spriests(also don't really exist), and honestly they can just choose not to fight warlocks and there's nothing warlocks can do about it because they're so slow.

      Hunters are naturally pretty decent DPS in MC-tier gear, but 1.12.1 itemization (comparatively) hurts them a little bit, especially with Lupos not doing shadow damage. THAT SAID, in BWL Hunters will be able to do competitive DPS with at least the casters if they get rank 13. The PVP sets of hunters is basically equivalent of T3 without the set bonuses. They will def go back to sucking in either AQ or Naxx, tho.

      Warlock - best all around class choice. Is good at everything, PvP, raiding, dungeons,... and if Blizzard ever decides to expand classic with retail TBC again, warlock is the TOP class in TBC without any competition.

      I agree with Warlock being one of the top 3 classes, but I would add: WotF REEEEEEEEEEEEE, and a big downside to warlock PVE is that they have the most/expensive consumables of any class by a far margin. Additionally, they kinda suck without gear. Their T1 is really good for PVP, though, and even if you're casual T2/2.5 is really good PVP gear, and they get a lot of "free" gear that's super good for PVP, and PVP. Like, the fricken AQ20 ring is their third BiS, and the ZG cloak is basically BiS. it's super easy to gear a warlock late game.

      @Dexig
      Hpaladins are really good PVP supports, even though horde has comparatively godly racial, WSG is typically alliance favored because of Hpals. That said, AB is arguably horde favored because of elemental shamans being really good burst.

      In PVE holy paladins can't really ever top the meters verse a good priest, except on fights where the raid is only taking minimal damage and you can snipe their heals with flash of light since it's so much faster. That said, their healing competitive enough that if you're a good hpal, you'll dunk on a mediocre or bad priest. The biggest upside to PVE as a Hpal, in my opinion, is how cheap it is compared to other healers. Particularly in farm content you'll never really need to use more than the PVP mana potions(like 10 silver each?) if your gear is good.

      THAT SAID, I think the meta for gearing paladins is actually going to change a lot over what the current conventional wisdom is for them. Crit is far too highly rated IMO, since it mainly just gives you mana. Fight length has been getting lower and lower, and I always notice paladins ending fights with full mana without using consumables, which means they would've healed more in more healing power gear, instead of crit. This doesn't matter for the end of the game's cycle, though, since most T3 pieces are BiS from both a prespective of caring about crit a lot, and not caring at all.

      Ret paladin is not good PVE dps, and most people won't want you as a ret in raid - but if you go to raids as Holy, especially after you've had AQ on farm for a long time you'll probably get a very respectable ret off set. Rets are good in 1v1 verse most classes at high gear when played well, but they do have a lot of limitations. Like half of the population will be rogues/warriors, and rets dunk on those.

      @Dariusacmar
      I suspect the reason you had a harder time with vanilla content was due the lack of understanding of the game at the time. I think a good way to compare, is to look at the server firsts for private servers (which, again, mostly turned out to be overtuned compared to actual vanilla by a far margin) compared to world firsts for average mythic content.

      MC typically gets cleared on private servers the week after server launch, so 7-9 days server including leveling 1-60. All other vanilla content is cleared on day 1 of release by multiple guilds. Also, if you wanna take a look at https://legacyplayers.com/ , you'll see that a much higher percentage of guilds clear all content than on retail.

      Compare that to mythic content, and you'll see a rather large disparity.

      As for gold farming, I was maintaining ~180 gold/per hour even after naxx from bijous, I suppose it's a server based thing tho. I'm surprised it would ever go down to 50G/hour, though, since there are mage farms with a much higher barrier to entry that would give similar or more consistent GP/H just from vendoring greens/grays/leather.

      @Tuoni

      At the moment I feel like I am going with a Tauren Druid.

      If you're planning to be casual, but also still want to be included/useful during any form of group content, I'd strongly recommend against druid. Unlike in actual vanilla, feral will be pretty decent DPS between BWL-the end of AQ, but only if they grind out rank 13 because of the 1.12.1 itemization, which is kinda insane for ferals.

      If you go really hard and bring mana flasks, farm the gnomer weaponx10 per raid, and generally put in x10 more effort than everybody else you can also do well in MC content, but you'll still never do better than say a warrior/rogue putting in half the effort. As a casual this is unrealistic, though. After AQ nothing would be enough for feral to keep up.

      Boomkins will always be undesirable everywhere, and in such gearing one as a casual will be basically impossible. FC druids are also extremely desirable if they're good, but if you're casual I doubt you'll desired by any relevant BG teams, so it pretty much just leaves you as resto -which can do some insane healing, but only really in T3 content, since they need the gear to really be able to function.

      @Dariusacmar said in WoW Classic is coming:

      The amusing thing is, Vanilla wow, or "WoW classic", was exceptionally difficult. Mostly because of the content, but also because of the lack of mounts till high levels, exceptional difficulty getting any sort of large amounts of money unless you were a professional farmer and the required 40 man raids, which actually required virtually every man of that 40 to perform at their best to beat.

      I've done some mythic raiding in mop/legion, and I gotta say it's easiest bosses are several orders of magnitude harder than the hardest vanilla content. Even on the nost core, which it would turn out is basically hard mode due to some of the formulas being wrong.

      My guild only raided 8 hours a week, was half full of undergeared backpeddlers and it only took us 3-4 weeks of progression to dumpster KT, even though we were still doing AQ/Ony/BWL up to chromagg during raid time for the first two weeks, and baron/garr the whole time. TFW no TF

      Plus, half or more of the people didn't really run any consumables, other than resistance potions on fights where they were applicable, and even then most people used the lesser versions.

      Vanilla PVE is a joke, and 35 mouthbreathing keyboard turners can pretty easily be carried by 1 good raid leader, 1 semi-competent tank, and 3-4 good dps/healers.

      Also, 40-60G/per hour on one character is pretty trivial and requires no gear. If you're a good mage, and you've decent gear solo farming ZG for bijous could net you several hundred per hour.

      I'm PRETTY EXPERIENCED when it comes to vanilla wow, if y'all nerds got any questions.

      I'm not going to buy your game, and by extension I expect a solid 8-10 people from my usual group also will not. Purely, 100% because of overenthusiastic forum moderation.

      I haven't actually counted, but I don't feel as though I'm not exaggerating when I say 50% of my last 20 or so posts have been deleted with not a word said to me, or a response when actively seeking clarification.

      Anything worthy of deleting should be worth of warning/suspension/banning, should it not? I, with full sincerity, do not know what rule my posts have broken.

      None of said deleted posts have been directed at anybody, or could reasonably be categorized as offensive/aggressive/hateful. Derailing, maybe? Definitely not moreso than anything else posted in 99% of threads.

      It's so humorless/joyless, and I imagine it's going to spill over into your game.

    • RE: Clarification on the target audience

      As an extremely PVP/efficiency focused person, I'm fairly concerned about this too.

      PVP is generally going to be more of a hurdle to efficient resource gathering for most people, than anything that's likely to be put in the furrylands. Furryland will likely be over farmed because of this, devaluing its resources. Presumably once furryland resources are devalued enough, the risk:reward factor would lead most furrymen to travel elsewhere for a better paycheck. Past the initial release, I'd also expect the new player population to be highest in furryland, leading to a greater reduction is resource value.

      Alternatively, the value of resources on the furryland may be artificially increased, forcing PVPers to farm there on alts. Lower risk, higher reward.

      @Finland
      Just sayin', being a sandbox PVPer doesn't mean you're inherently some over testosterone filled butthole out to ruin everybody's experience. I feel the majority of people who act like they are, are just extremely unpleasant people who don't fare well in social situations. People that others quickly end up disliking. People who instigate name calling, while simultaneously acting morally superior. Annoying people.

      With that in mind, given the opportunity, I'm going to corpse camp the poop out of you.

      Prometheus was a developer/Community manager for Linkrealms.
      I'm not entirely sure how the company was structured, but my limited understanding is that Prometheus had the most influence over the game, in spite of it being an unpaid(poorly paid?) position.

      Fractured was a bit of a controversy, as Prometheus, along with all other developers, stepped down while announcing Fractured. This being Controversial because Fractured began developement prior to the announcement Linkrealms would be abandoned, during a time when it was strongly implied development would continue.

      I assume he's asking here because he's upset over the death of his game, and want his inevitably declined requests to be public.

      Hey @Prometheus , so it might be a bit early to start talking about balance but I really feel like wind strike is overpowered.

      Invocation in general is bad, but you have to invest so little into wind strike that it's super overpowered when other classes spend the minimum knowledge requirements to obtain it, and get nothing else from invo.

      forums.linkrealms.com/topic/3715/project-loliconquest-van-killboard?page=1

      @Lohen Maybe. It really depends on how much effort the developers are willing to put checking. I use forum posting as an example because in aggregate there's always somebody autistic enough on the internet to notice these things, but if somebody at dynamite cared enough to go all out you'd need a lot more to be convincing.

      100% of your referred accounts ONLY post in the daily message thread?
      100% of your referred accounts never posted a topic?
      100% of your referred accounts never sent a forum PM?
      100% of your referred accounts never log in without posting?
      100% of your referred accounts have the same quest completions?
      100% of your referred accounts don't have referred accounts?
      100% of your referred accounts connect from dynamic IPs?
      Similar passwords?
      Similar parent Emails?
      All attached to the same Email service?
      Once the game launches 100% of your accounts don't buy the game?

      There are literally hundreds of ways you could be caught out if the developer cares enough to check, but how much effort a fairly low budget studio is willing to put into a 100% meaningless leader board is questionable.

      That said, if you go for stupid high numbers 5k< then patterns will be insanely obvious even at a glance, and I expect they would care 'cause it'd have an effect on marketing and such.

      If you're just going for enough to have the highest, but still relatively low numbers, say 500-1000, then it'd be easier to just write a script to spam it across the Internet. Plus, that way you actually help the developers, currying you favor, and giving you in-game currency when the game launches. Just seems way easier, less risky, and with better profit.

    • RE: Foundation Top 100's Top 10.

      It wouldn't be time efficient to make fake accounts if your goal were to be #1 on the foundation, only if your goal is to get absurd numbers, and even then I find it doubtful it wouldn't be easier to be an advertising whore.

      I don't know exactly what the website checks, but at worst you'd need to emulate different hardware/browsers/OS/IP for some portion of your referrals. Easy enough.

      Next, having them all, or mostly, come from somewhere with enough traffic to make your influx of referrals seem reasonable. Easiest way to do with would be either reddit vote/view manipulation, or just directing them from unrelated high traffic streamers, so the admins can't check. Not so hard.

      The real challenge, having a proportionate number of your account look active. They'd need to post on the forums, and even if you translate it into some weird language barely anybody speaks, people are going to notice that shit's just a reskinned cleverbot eventually. I can't find a solution around this issue that doesn't involve simply having a lot of real referrals mixed in.

      If you're going to need a lot of real referrals, then your time would be better spent making something that advertises for you, as opposed to directly making fake accounts. I mean, you could have your fake accounts supplement your real referrals, but that just seems like overkill.

      Consider the fact that I'm #1, and I don't even care enough to do quests or daily posts. I only referred a few people so I don't have to pay for dumb microtransactions, and so I can mock people for indirectly giving me money when I'm the most hated/prolific ganker in the community.
