      I've been playing Path of Exile and I wanted to give some feedback on that game not having an Auction House.

      The game has an API for public stash space. There you place a price per item (or per tab, I assume). This allows the API to cache it on the website. You open the website (or 3rd party site) and search for the item you want.

      On the one hand it's pretty neat that you are still required to PM someone (oddly enough there's a PM button that will copy a predefined message for the seller) but the problem is when someone is AFK or uses an item to 'price fix'. For items this isn't an issue however for currency it's a huge problem.

      PoE doesn't have gold as a currency, it has 100 types of currency. The same API that is used to sell items is also used to sell currency. One big complaint from players is people are using bots (although not against ToS for PoE trading of currency) so they don't need to be at that screen for trades. The next complaint is people will price fix (as mentioned above) so that certain currency pairs look cheaper than they are. The next complaint is a request for the PoE developers to add a currency AH (or Exchange) so that the trading can be done without bots or people needing to be online and not afk. But really people not wanting to trade is a thing.

      I know people want to chat with others to trade but the reality is that many people want to play the game while trades happen. We have the carpenter, so I'll suggest a Barker (or Broker) that can sit at someone's house or at a trade district in a town/city. This allows the player to list items, and they get to play the game. When they come home they can check to see which items are sold. This system was in Dark Ages of Camelot back when and it was pretty neat, annoying at times but still pretty neat. The Barker/Broker API can be used so we can access it in game or out of game.

      The Barker/Broker is a currency sink too!
      This still makes people run into the world (at least the Barkers not in a city) for goods to be traded.

      seems odd that it's younger mobs with better loot because if you're farming an area then you're naturally killing younger creatures.

      seems to me the older mobs should have better loot and higher stats. they should be 'earning exp over a lifetime' and getting more loot (but really it's just crafting materials) over time too.

      too many other games working on just cosmetic. Path of Exile has stash tabs which can be considered convenience. Warframe has direct pay to speed up crafting but you dont need it and any player can play the game and trade items obtained for shoppe currency.

      PoE has a huge catalog of cosmetic and spell options. Fractured will have outfit, weapon, spells, mounts and housing all of which can have multiple cosmetic options. The housing alone could earn them quite the revenue if they do it properly.

      Add in some great way for cosmetic skins to drop from game content then add a way to trade items for dynamite gold and it can be a great monetization system. They dont have to sell convenience at all.

    • RE: Suggestion: Different spells have different armor requirements

      i just hate the idea that this is a sandbox game and we wont have any paladin or death knight style 'classes'. i dont want to see all magic happening from light armor nor do i want to see all melee happening with heavy.

      there should be some spells that can be used with any armor (small damage, hex, debuff, etc style) and there should be some melee attacks that can be used with light armor.

      but we haven't seen all 1200 abilities so it's hard to say how the 'full vision' will work out. and without any Spotlight, we will just complain based on what we've personally seen.

      there is a such thing as 'you'll never catch up' mechanic. developer can put such a time wall up that it's impossible to ever catch up. Eve Online has that as an example. no matter how much you play you'll never obtain equal skill points as a 12 year vet (this is pre-injectors). I had a 10 year old character and not a single new player could catch up and I could never catch up with those that started 2 years before me.

      Spiral Knights uses wasd to move and it's great. I can keep the mouse over what I want while moving my character out of harms way or to align an attack.

      I forgot to mention, it has PvP!

      i've played games with afk shops and i don't like them. the area lags, there's no good way to advertise. and having to look at each shop isn't fun. it'd be better to have a website dedicated to being a market and let those meet up when a buyer wants something which would end up happening anyways.

      while you can't 'win' an mmo, fractured will have conquerable cities, killing and looting of players. any advantage being paid for is still an advantage. DS can give cosmetics all day month long but they shouldn't give one that affects combat.

      I know the intentions are good but there could be some serious 'feedback' by backers.

      Having watched Crowfall backers provide feedback, suggestions, rants, etc, it seems to me having limited game time is better for a developing game than 24/7 access.
