Fractured's design doesn't account for altitude so far as I can see, so there will likely never be any profound sort of flying or diving - other than walking with a hovering animation, possibly.

It may be possible to add dungeons or other maps that look like they're in the air or underwater or whatever.

it can be flying as seen in any RTS. but i dont want flight but if an ability granted it for 1-10 seconds then i'd be ok with that.

i want a waterworld expansion. that includes ports, navy, small boats (maybe a raft), water based professions (salt and fresh water fishing. maybe crab traps, etc),

races can be shark, killer whale, dolphins, crab, Naga, starfish, seahorse, eel, etc. I'd like to see an option for each play style. Naga for the demon planet as an example. we can say that the gods of each planet grant these new species magic that allows them to not need water to survive.

how it is confusing? there's always google $ to € and it'll tell you, then you can type in the cost of the euro and it'll let you know the amount in $. it's literally never been so simple.

@Jetah said in New Alpha Price & Founder Pack Sale:

@GamerSeuss you want numbers when the systems are in place. never before. i promise you most of the new people getting in will just get a refund when they realize it isn't a playable 'early access' they're use to by other developers.

i've seen post during alpha and beta asking if progression will stay into release. that's how stupid some people are. but to some benefit of the doubt, there are a few alpha's that carry progression into beta and very few that pass beta progression into release.

DS doesn't need players. they need testers. they need people after the systems are in place to test the netcode and server hardware. although i have seen qty ramp up in other games.

Not at all, like I said, I used to advise companies on this for a living. Also, point of fact, there will probably be little to no refunds offered for these founders packs, as this is 'Investing in a New Game' and thus, you are assuming an actual risk that the game doesn't get off the ground, so these new 'investors' are not entitled to a refund, so that won't be happening.

you clearly don't understand how american credit cards works. people can get refunds after a year+ of service. I've read post on reddit where small businesses have lost so much after a 'client' decided to get a refund for a year of service.

Yes, they need testers, but they also need volume players who haven't already gone through some of the testing phases. They want fresh eyes on their product, finding more errors and bugs in how it's being done. They want to stress test their servers to see what kind of load the servers can handle at a consistent level of performance, NOW, before they attempt to go into beta, and then Live. The extra money is nice to have, it adds to what they can themselves invest in to improve the game, but it is not 'needed' by them at the moment. As they have said before, they are already well above the amount backed that they ever anticipated reaching. With this being a very small operation, their overhead is also kept down. As they amp up for live launch, then they will probably make another serious push for more money, and then, you'll see heavily discounted upgraded packages, as well as new packages on sale at a discounted price, in order to bring in that last push money most companies need right before they go live. Things like Ad Campaigns, Final Server Licensing, and End Stage Editing/Graphics layout costs hit at the end!

but they dont need new eyes for every patch. people will join, play the game, realize it isn't 'early access' and tell their friends/guild that the game sucks. the better ones will look at the game in a later state. I'm still waiting for Camelot Unchained, Crowfall and Star Citizen.

as long as the demons get more races, i'm happy!!

i'd be fine with many of the 'evil' races in games/fantasy you can't play.

    • RE: What to expect on an "alpha state" game?

@d3Sync said in What to expect on an "alpha state" game?:

I think the phrasing alpha, beta, early access are essentially meaningless. It's very difficult to slam people for their expectations being too high or low because every project is different. Some alpha projects don't have many bugs, but are missing content. Some alpha's are completely full of bugs. Some are playable, and some will leave you so frustrated that you have to get up and go do somethings else out of frustration. Everyone has a different opinion of what each stage should mean. Part of that is a developer not being transparent enough about what to expect out of their product. Some of that is because the consumer expects too much. But ultimately, if you spend money and you are given access to a game, it should be in a proper state to test. Sometimes developers don't deliver on that final point. I haven't tested Fractured yet, but based on a lack of NDA and what I've seen. It seems the game falls closer into the category of beta. Requires more content, but isn't riddled with bugs and easily playable for hours on end. Usually, from my experience, the people who defend very poor products are just mad because they feel that their favorite toy is being stolen. They get emotional and lash out at criticism. Often times it's well deserved.

only reason a consumer would expect too much is because the development phase has been labeled wrong.

      @GamerSeuss
but normally you'd offer a discount and free access so that those that want to continue testing.. er playing, can do so. i'm sure they need new players but usually offering a testing phase is bad. especially when majority of mechanics and 2/3 of the races aren't in. personally i would have done a backer only discount to encourage those without alpha/beta to upgrade. at least those people know the state of the build. new players may think the game is bad because of the stage it's in. then they'll refund the tier they took.

      @Gothix
i mean. triple a developers can push out some pretty crappy games with nearly unlimited funding. at least 2 of those publishers only have incremented games (COD, FIFA, etc).
oh, and Star Citizen isn't even out yet..

i suspect the cost will increase per tier same with talents. the idea for this type of game is to always release new skills and talents so that knowledge is always gained and spent, like a currency.

I'd actually suggest a 15-20% discount for those that already have a pledge. maybe push this out closer to black Friday/cyber Monday.

I went to a restaurant once and really enjoyed the meal,l i didnt mind paying $60 for a single person on a meal. Came back yesterday and the fckers put my exact meal on discount.

Can you fcking believe that? i deserve compensation for something that wasnt on sale when I enjoyed it. Why do I have to pay full price when it's going to go on sale in the future anyway?

That's what you sound like; a Karen.

not really. see food is consumed and that's it. hell even theme parks have extended sales for their season pass holders.
karens just complain for the sake of complaining. I'm merely stating if there was a sale for those that already backed the game then it'd give an opportunity for those with lower packages to get a tier or few higher.

sure getting new people in is good but the game isn't nearly complete or ready for release (in whatever form they'll call it), so getting those already in and those from kickstarter to increase their pack would help too. this is more like giving card members a higher discount than regular members (see Target and Starbucks).

Surely they are trying to raise more cash, not give it back.

and giving those who already bought a discount to upgrade would bring in more cash. with a 20% discount that puts my upgrade to €215/$254. that would egg/edge me to quite possibly upgrade! (it would depend on funds at the time of discount given.)

I think that on Tartaros looting your corpse is FFA, on Syndesia, everyone can loot but with a consequence of being tagged as thief.

On Arboreus your stuff is protected.

@Jetah Pathfinder is far prettier than Fractured in it's present state, the terrain is very different as you move through the areas.
I'm not saying people who understand the full concept of the game will be put off by the way it looks, but it may have an impact after release, that may stop people from taking a closer look, after seeing Youtube videos and the like, and it "Looking" boring.

so a finished game is in a better state than a pre-release game? i mean, we don't have anything outside of the woods, maybe some marsh. but it plans on having all biome types and it'll change as you travel too.
test literally has one area (unless it's changed and i wasn't aware). we don't even have beast or demons yet (again unless that's changed).

    • RE: How to implement fast travelling?

@Tuoni said in How to implement fast travelling?:

@Jetah I guess we do unless developers wants players to play only locally and not to explore. This can bore players really fast if they repeatedly plays on the same local environment. Few alts does not make much different because there is nine continents in total, therefore, with e.g. three characters you cover just small portion of the whole gaming world.

Fast travel does not need to mean that players can easily get everywhere, it can offer only few options so players can travel about there (naked), but way that you still need some traveling to get your final destination. That way players have a chance to experience the game more widely and group up more easily with friends and guildies. However, it is of course important balance this well and not offer too much travel routes, and possibility to move resources and items without any effort.

but the game is setup to need clothing to be prepared for climate. it would be horrible to be able to quickly port to a cold place and grab some clothes.
i don't see fractured being a friendly place to travel. i suspect solo players needing a group to safely travel. i hate that it can be avoided but i also understand the game is a fantastic which is why i feel it would be great to tie it to knowledge.

there will be quick travel between planets, although costly to start. so i think exploring can still be done but will be done during more specific times.

@Jetah I was not intending to compare 3rd person against isometric, these were just up to date examples in a general sense, but if you wish to look at some other isometric examples, I can offer Kingmaker pathfinder, and to be honest Baldurs gate, looks better even with the lack of pixel density.

AS @d3Sync has said my issue is that it looks boring, for me looking at a screen for hours and not feeling engaged is a minus, for this day and age it needs to be better.

the Pathfinder Kingmaker has similar visual that fractured has but I'm mostly looking at the terrain.
