Since I became a backer (Kickstarter) and started testing Alpha 1-2 I realize that my old decrepit computer was really struggling...... it was time for a new one!!!

So Black Friday came and I spent way too much on a new system that can now handle the game and any upcoming add-ons.

Now the Wife is cranky because I spent too much money !!!

I blamed the entire Fractured team (including half of the current testers) but that did not seem to cheer her up.

I hope some really cool stuff is coming down the line, so I can justify this new computer.

Either way, now I can dump AOL and my current Myspace.com page.

Once again I see many get the wrong idea of what "Alpha" test is and should be.

This has been a problem over the last several years due to many companies exploiting the Alpha name to milk money early.

I have told people that this is a true Alpha in the sense there is no game to play, and is mainly testing certain features.
Many of us do this so we can see early builds.

The "Fun" is irrelevant in Alpha as many of the current items/designs will change over time.

The instant decision to uninstall or quit when something seems bugged or annoying is a side effect of the earlier exploit of Alpha testing as mentioned above.

I don't know if there is a way to remedy these reactions, except maybe to advise that this is a true Alpha and not the common use of the name?

actually, I would think that any "behind the scenes" stuff would be cool for the Dev forums.

Stuff that the general public may not care about, but the more dedicated players might?

Yes, I tend to agree it can be hard to hold interests as the news is slow.

If it wasn't for the leveling system , I believe the forums would be even slower.

We gamers can be a very fickle bunch.

WTH am I reading?

To expand on earlier suggestions,

It is a good idea not to put this off for too long, as it can be a sign that progress is being made.
Many that donated (Especially at the higher level) have been burned before regarding games stalling or even closing down.

The developer forums was a nice selling point giving a behind the scenes peek or access to ideas that might not be ready for general consumption.

Other Kickstarted games have nice developer forums and can be used as a template as to content and ideas.

This also sets up trust that goals listed will be met and more people will tend to "invest" in the future.

In my opinion, constant communication as to the progress and status can go along way. The developer forums can help with ideas and opinions from more seasoned donators as to what might work to help.

I know this is a tough time, but I would highly recommend you keep the players informed at all times. Even a steady stream of minor info can keep a solid player base.
