    • Feedback, QOL, bugs

This will seem extremely negative, but just know that I really like the Alpha so far.

      • Raycasting: This has been by far the biggest annoyance for me. It needs a ton of work. Your own character should not block raycast. That's the first thing that should be fixed. It makes it very difficult to interact with the world because you consistently need to move out of your own way.

      • Movement and action should not be bound to the same mouse click. It would fix a few world interaction issues. When I'm running away from wolves, I should not stop to chop wood. The right click is not really used. I understand that controls will eventually be customizable, but in the meantime right click should move, left click should interact.

      • Dropping resources onto a blueprint is sometimes replaced with movement. Then your character blocks the raycast. So you need to move out, and drop again. So annoying.

      • Sometimes, dropping resources on a blueprint will double the drop. For instance, I can drop 1 log onto a wall and 2 logs are placed down. I expect it might have something to do with the bug above.

      • On the subject of duplicating items, you can easily duplicate any item: 1. Open inventory and a storage chest. 2. Place any object in the chest. 3. Take the object you want to duplicate, and drop onto the object in the chest. The result should be swapping the two items, but instead the chest item is destroyed and replaced by the inventory item, and the inventory item is replaced by itself, effectively duplicating it.

      • Object placement on your land plot is all over the place. Sometimes it's red for no reason. Sometimes you move it around a bit and the same placement becomes blue. Sometimes blue placements can't be placed down.

      • Cart is misplaced pretty much every new login.

      • Please add a small crafting queue or crafting stacks. It could be an upcoming feature, or maybe it's as intended. But please consider that clicking mindlessly on your mouse to create quickly crafted items is not fun for ANYONE.

      • Often, choosing an action through the small menu UI will simply close the ui window and do nothing. Might have to do with the raycasting issues.

      • Transferring items is a pain in the ass. Right click on chest items should drop it in your inventory. There should be a Drop All into chest option.

      • Herbal Remedies is not curing spider poison.

      • AI traps are extremely buggy. When the trap is over, movement sometimes work, sometimes doesn't. Animations are wrong. Casting spells often doesn't work. Everytime I see a trap above my head I go: "Ahhh, here we go... let's see if I can survive this by sheer luck." I'm often killed by melee creatures killing me from almost a full screen away.

      • Wolf heads drop on Giant Spiders.

      • Treant knowledge completed without ever seeing a single one.

    • LMB buggy: Movement vs Interactions

I was told to post a bug report on the matter by Prom, but I would like to make the case that the bugs are consequences of a faulty design.

First of all, the issue comes from the fact that both the movement and interaction inputs have the same input: LMB.

      A few bugs:

      • Left click on a heavy mat (log, rocks) will sometimes move instead of move + interaction (pick up mat).
      • The reverse is also buggy. Pick up mat, left click on a blueprint will move to the blueprint instead of move +
        interaction (place down mat).
      • The other bug (that I was asked to report) is when you just dropped a mat on a blueprint and want to get the next mat form your cart. You left click on the cart (hand cursor), open up the cart's inventory UI, select your mat, your character starts moving towards the cart and once arrived, the UI closes down and nothing else happens (as if the character just moved there).

These occur very often, especially the first 2. The cart bug is rarer, but it still happens a lot if you're doing a lot of work (like building a house).

These are clearly bugs, but also the result of a badly design input system where 2 different actions are bound to the same input.

      • Moving on a floor blueprint is almost impossible.
The movement is always replaced by interaction, which means you can't move on a floor blueprint. You need to hold left click to move and this leads to weird running animations (if you are pulling a cart) and other weird stuff.

Sure, this could be considered a bug, but this is evidence of the design flaw.

      • Kitting and running is clunky.
Combat removes interactions from the left click (making it move-only). This is somewhat annoying (sometimes you do want to interact, especially if combat seems over, but the system doesn't recognize it yet). But sometimes you kite or run away without being in combat.
The combat interaction restriction is more evidence of a design flaw. You don't want to stop chopping a tree in combat. Well, I don't want to stop chopping a tree when I'm running either.

      • Major bug: You can get stuck with mat in hands when attacked by a creature.
It only happened once so far, but I was moving heavy mat when I was attacked by a wolf. I couldn't interact with anything and couldn't drop the mat. I also couldn't use combat skills because I was carry a rock. I was left to die.

      Conclusion:

I could go on and on with the strange left click behaviors, but I have limited memory. Point is, it would be so much better if movement and interactions were using separate input. It leads to many bugs and tons of annoying behaviors.

    • RE: OMG Thank You!

Let's not forget that they went into a Glyph partnership in the first place despite the community's outrage.

It's nice that they've corrected their mistake, don't get me wrong, but they've made that mistake in the first place, we've had no communications for months, and no idea what was happening (we still don't, really).

All this to say that I'll hold on to my thank you's.

@kehmesis said in The game needs to tell the player a lot more about how it works:

I agree. It's the most frustrating part of the game so far. Wiki is alright, but incomplete. I find myself needing to constantly ask questions in /help to find out simple things like what is an alchemical oil.

Make sure you are using this wiki https://fractured.wiki.gg/ (Alchemy and alchemical oils are on it). I believe it's 1 patch behind and gets updates regularly. The fandom wiki is the old version and is horribly out of date. Only use the wiki.gg version.

Ohhh, I was definitely using the wrong one. Thanks!

    • RE: Beta and Alpha Tests - Confused here

The description is accurate and I'm not sure what you mean by type of testing. I assume you mean Alpha or Beta.

It starts with Alpha then moves on to Beta and each are separated by numerical values, starting at 1. Once you have access to a prior testing phase, it means you have access to all future testing phases as well.

Alpha 1 is completed. We're in Alpha 2. Alpha 2 (or Alpha 1) access means you currently have access to testing and will access to every other testing phases.

If you have access to Beta X, you'll have to wait until Beta X starts.
