      ::FAQ::

Q1: Why is this guild setup like a government? I want freedom of choice!
A1: The reason why the guild is set up this way, is because Fractured is going to be every bit of the definition of MMO. People create politics. They also lead to things such as griefing and raiding which is why I aim for this type of setup. You are naturally entitled to your freedom. This is not a dictatorship by any means, but you have to recognize the benefits and dangers of people given such a large amount of freedom and access to vast resources. If we are not organized, it will be disaster, especially when an enemy guild comes knocking.

Q2: Okay, so I have freedom, I want to explore and craft and build, and the whole shebang, but why am I being told to do things that I don't want to do?
A2: Let me make this clear, both here and the guild charter. You are entitled to your freedom. IF you do not want to work and do your own thing, that is fine. BUT! There has to be a modicum of productiveness on some degree.. I don't care if you want to wander around and explore.. or sit and craft.. or drink all day in a tavern, but you have to at least contribute. This is a dynamic mmo, which means its a living world with thousands of people influencing it.. every tiny bit helps, even if you are telling stories at a pub to cheer on your comrades....

Q3: I understand I have to give a little effort, will I get paid to do so?
A3: As I have currently planned for... I aim to have a town, and a working system of democracy. This also means economics and the ability to get paid. You CAN get compensated for what you contribute, at the behest of your generous peers. Even if its simply roleplaying selling bread on the streets, you are doing something, and therefore you will earn what you put in.

Q4: I want the fame and prestige of being a leader, but I'm not qualified for it, should I still apply?
A4:The short answer is no, please don't. I don't want to sound like an absolute arrogant peeve about this, but when I say I am recruiting leaders, I'm talking about people who are able to make time to be available for the planned meetings and retain organizational data. I need effort made, and politics assembled for the leadership positions. The guild is only as strong as its weakest link, and if our weakest link is what is supposed to be our heads, we are in deep trouble....

Q5: Meetings? So this is an actual organization for a game?
A5: You heard that right. Meetings. I kid thee not when I say I want to be on the ball with this guild, especially since this whole setup is planned for well over a hundred people or more. The branches are in place because the majority of the people should be able to fit into one or more of the roles available. I don't care if you want to play casually, but for those that understand that this game will be partly survival, both pve and pvp and sometimes both at the same time... you have to be somewhat ready to handle the dangers faced.

That does it for the Intro post for the guild. Anyone wishing to sign up may do so below. Please keep an eye out for messages given on either here in the forum, or in the discord channel below.

    • RE: System controlled caravans.

Think the main points of the argument here are sound.. and ultimately, caravans should be player run and guarded.. Don't forget that guilds and players will have their own towns and their own resource needs. Naturally in order to keep things interesting and lively, it would be in the best interests of player groups to have such things as 'quest boards.' I actually plan to have this setup in my city to where goods, both raw material and finished products can see escorted transport to neighboring communities.

With Fractured aiming to be a sandbox where players rule the economy, that should include the entire chain of consumerism, from gathering to production to logistics to retail. Things have to be engaging, fun and interactive for players to feel like what they do matters.. and honestly, it does especially when you're reliant on trade and that income to fund certain tavern...things.

On the subject, I don't think the npc towns should become more than wayposts for players to make a quick rest at.. The problem with npcs is that it creates a false market, where players will base certain items and their corresponding prices.. especially if the devs decide to have some npcs that sell higher grade or essential items like skill books. Even basic resources can easily flood the market.

Runescape is a classic example of this issue. Before there was a centralized auction site, (Grand Exchange for those unfamiliar) trades were done by players, for players and used the forums and community postings for keeping up with prices. There was a general store with minimal supplies that was used as an easy way to make quick gold. It was easier and at the same time a little more fun for people to create markets for commodities, such as wood and ore that incentivised players to shop around. Now its years later and most players just hang around the ge all day and...trade.. allll day. Not even bothering to leave to visit a bank, because hey, banks right there.

My point is, could there be npc run caravans? Absolutely.. The question becomes whether or not it would add more immersion, more incentive for players to help with ai ran trade routes rather than taking the time to flesh their own routes and thus open new avenues of exploration and adventure?

    • RE: WASD or click to move only?

@gothix Unfortunately, you have a strong point. I've played Diablo, PoE, and the earlier ilk, and I've gotta say, there's alot of players that vie for WASD than point and click; not only for the extra movements and the hand placement for the hot keys, but also frees up the mouse for other things.

I agree with doing what PoE did and have the Option for it at the very least.

@dragomok I believe in the dynamic ability of using the environment to the players advantage. And in the building and housing system. And in the knowledge system for means of progression.

@therippyone Don't think they mentioned which day in December so probably.

@Foxs Agreed. Still, the mechanics involve terrain that actually matters, a knowledge type progression system, and a build-a-thon town system with management. Sure the work and testing will be brutal, and some of us may not survive... but for the glorious few, we'll get that cheddar!

    • RE: Preventing Bots in Arboreus

@jetah Runescape bots from what I remember about them lacked combat ability, focusing more on gathering resources. Then again, this game will have different mechanics and will require different thinking approaching 'botting' So perhaps they will have combat built into them..

    • RE: Preventing Bots in Arboreus

My question for this thread is, if while gathering resources you will be attacked by the local fauna for 'disrupting the ecosystem,' isn't that already a deterrant for bots? Especially if the bot program lacks the ability to fight the mobs.

At least I think that is what they were talking about in one of the dev highlights where if you start gathering too much you're assaulted by mobs..
