    • RE: The Fractured Pre-Alpha Is Coming!

While I'm too exited to see the project starting, I don't get all this hype for a Pre-Alpha: it's basically a test to see if the general core of the game works properly, it will have tons of downtimes and very little will be implemented.

Chill out guys, it's far more interesting to see the Alpha 1 where the game will be more refined at we could get a better idea of the game.

    • RE: Will humans be able to change with karma like demons and beastman?

For Humans there is the Lich transformation, that was one of the Kickstarter's stretch goals (already unlocked).
We currently don't have any hints about how you can unlock it, but it'll probably be something pretty long to achieve like Abomination and Angel morphs.

    • RE: Weave Fracture cataclysm, Elysium lore into exploration

Lore about the past is something that is not so important at the release: we have almost everything we may need to build our characters and the knowledge about the worlds we're living in. Everything else can be always added later if needed, but doing it now will just take out resources from more important things the game may need now.

Fractured is so open world that the players will wrote their present and their future, while the recent past can be told by the NPC. While we'll be playing that history will write itself based on what we'll do. Remote history and the stuff of legends can wait for now, imho.

    • RE: What's your motivation for your pledge pack?

I - actually - don't have a pack. I'm thinking on which to buy but there are so little informations around at the moment that is hard to know if the game will be as entertaining as it seems on paper.
I'm a long time online (and offline) player and in time I've burned really tons of money for project that seems worthy but were not in the end.

So I've learned to keep the hype under control and wait before dropping money on something, whatever it is (not that money per se is an issue).
So I'll probably wait the last possible few days before buying a pledge pack.

    • RE: Scroll of teleportation 🌀⏳

Traveling is, imho, one of the core aspect of Fractured: the difficulties and the risks that a long journey implies requires a certain setup and preparation from players (the right equipment for the environment, food, tools and so on).

Adding the option for teleporting around doesn't sound so good, even if it's random or it may lead to secret location (if that was the scenario than some place may be find only by pure luck, without any chance for the majority to ever be there).

    • RE: [Community Talk] What makes you quiet?

Actually there is no such big infos to talk about here and almost every known aspect of the game as already been discussed in depth.
I'm sure that when Alpha 1 will start and tons of new footage and news will be released this board will be filled with new and interesting topics.

    • Hello

Hi everyone! I'm following the project almost since its beginning but I've decided to join here only recently since (finally) also some of my friends have decided to join on Fractured when it will be ready and released.

We're an old group of 4-8 people that play toghter since the time of Ultima Online and Dark Age of Camelot. After almost 10 years of World of Warcraft (from day-1 Vanilla to the end of Cataclysm), we've never found another MMO that really captured our interest.

Many aspetcs of Fractured got us here: so many common points with UO and, most of all, a system finally free of time-consuming exping phases or endless grind. Afterall we're all grown up and between family and work we don't have much time left so something that will grant us the chance to have fun without wasting hours just completing quests and killing mobs is more than welcome.

I really hope that Fractured can be what we're searching for.

    • RE: PvP loot, an yet unasked question and diferent POV

The system is very similar to that of Ultima Online, were full loot of both inventory and equipped gear is possible but that action will bring consequences upon the thief (or the murderer).

If the gear will be kept easily to replace I see only pros to this solution (because it will make economy and crafting going), but if expensive enchantments or other different type of gear more hard to acquire will come, then it may not be a so good idea to make it drop.

People that will be able to get those buff/rare drop won't use them because in fear of losing them. If that will ever be, then they should think of something that may prevent a certain item to drop upon death (an insurance with gold or a blessing and things like that).

    • RE: Post Kickstarter Funding is Going Well

Ye the game is performing well under that point of view and I'm really excited to see it going! I know that is still far away but I hope we could have Taming implemented.
It'll be so nice to going around searching for rare animals, both as mounts and companions during our adventures.

Keep spreading words about Fractured even further!

    • RE: little question

You'll need to buy the game in order to play, but then is free.
If you want you can get a VIP subscription that will grant you cosmetic items, but nothing that can give you an advantage over other players (just aestethic stuff).

    • RE: Different servers or just a big one?

@specter I understand that servers in different regions have a major impact on the budget, but at last one for the US and one for EU, imho, are needed from the start: while I've no doubt that if the Devs said that they'll consider to implement localized servers when players will have connection issue, remember that the release and the first months of an online game are often crucial for its success.
If tons of players will experience major problem with lag and ping, when an EU server will be up tons of them may have already dropped Fractured and in the meanwhile a "bad reputation" start spreading around, leading away potential new players.

    • RE: curious on thoughts for game

I really hope Fractured will provide an interesting and engagin experience similar to the old UO (at the time of AoS expansion pack), where there was freedom of choice and a friendly environment that suited everyone allowing them to do what pleased them the most.

    • RE: What is called human transform for Beastman?

Usually Lich are assosiacted with Evil because in mostly scenarios a powerfull mage decide to bargain with evil powers to obtain immortality in a fast way.
But on D&D classic lore (just to name the more "canon") also Neutral and Good aligned chars can become Lich, but the process requires tons of research and efforts in order to be achieved.

On Fractured universe it seems a good choice for the Humans, imho.

    • RE: What sets Fractired apart from other MMORPG’s?

@dragomok Ye sorry I mis-typed. I meant "non-linear progression" because, as you correctly said, there is a lot of freedom in how everyone will be able to unlock abilities and traits doing different activities.

    • RE: Stretch Goals

While new stretch goals are indeed a good way to keep the money flowing, a proper Taming system will requires some really hard work to be implemented: different kind of animals, different stat, different abilities, different needs for each one (food, training time, etc.) and so on.

It something that probably will take lots of resources so I don't know how much "spare time" may be left for other big new things.

    • RE: Are you a PVP or PVE player?

PvP or PvE are almost both equally entertaining for me, what I would do the most is defined by how much fun the mechanics of both system will bring.

On UO I had done almost exclusivly PvP, with few PvE scenario just for the biggest events around (at the time of AoS, the Harrower and the gathering of the reagents for it from the Champs). While on WoW I really disliked Arena and BG, focussing more on PvE (with occasionally RBG).

    • RE: How much time will you spend playing?

I usually play 2-4 hours almost everyday in the evening, after work and dinner. But what I play depends on how I'm engaged with a game: I could play only a title for months (or years) if I'm having really fun with it.

    • RE: Games Without AH

On UO you can pay an NPC with a monthly fee to stay into a common market and sell your items (you chose the prices ofc). Other players can just speak to it and see everything it got.
The market is a physical place in town where everybody can go there and manage their merchants while going around and see what the others are selling.

You'll just need to restock your merchants and go in to retrive your gold, but nothing more in terms of management.
Not too invasive nor "outside" of the game itself, like an AH conneted world wide or a forum. I would strongly like something like that instead of a WoW-like AH.

    • RE: What part of the game is most intriguing to you all

The concept of a non-linear progression that avoid the experience gain/level up system, combined with an itemization tied to the crafting system instead of simply dropping equipment pieces from mobs. Also housing and an economic system driven by players only.

I really hope that Taming will be reached as goal.

    • RE: The End of most Sandbox PVP Games-The losing side.

If the issue is just the sheer numbers and the advantage of having a massive guild controlling almost everything, than just put a cap on how many members each group may have.
That should be pretty low, like 20 or 30 or 40.

To control an enormous amount of resources the players will then rely on alliance between guilds, instead of just merging into a giant one. But alliances may shift now and then during time, avoiding the staleness and creating new opportunity for every group to get a chance for claim new lands.
