Merry Christmas, especially to the developers, who should remember that sometimes they need to take a few days off

RE: Mentor systemposted in Discussions & Feedback
Since you do not acquire skills through usage, but through the knowledge system, which bases on 'accomplishments', having a mentor teaching that would kind of negate the need to accomplish different tasks and bypass the very core of the system, wouldn't it?

Don't get me wrong though! There's a right 'pace' for different steps of development. In pre-alpha, it is better to 'rush it', simply because it is NDA and the outside community only sees 'progress', but not how that progress looks like visually.
Before going out of NDA you should take your time though to have a smooth experience that does well when streamed, because that is what is going to catch people's attention at that point in time. -
RE: Update Kickstarter?posted in Questions & Answers
I think he means the 'updates' on Fractured's Kickstarter page @muker .
In which case I'd say, it might be a very busy time for the developers right now due to intense work on pre-alpha for the game. -

Check the 'new postings' for something you consider interesting. See if you could somehow contribute to the discussion, just don't force anything. Do that once a day and you have great odds to win.

Not at all. You're going to realize that you can skew the odds heavily by developing the 'right' posting habits. I have won 12 times so far and I am not the only one with multiple wins if you take a closer look at the postings that present a list of who won which week.

While you should not count on it, there is a chance to 'win the weekly random lottery' and hence get an invite through that. Better then to hope for a spot in the top 100 foundation

I'd dare to argue that there is a potential benefit to this, but limited.
Whereas there is a far greater potential in being able to reveal more, visual appealing, content (gameplay videos), which requires a lot of effort and manpower.
Or in other terms, it gets you a lot more players to show progress on developing the game then having a decent foundation-leaderboard. -

Congratulations!
And welcome to the struggle of staying in the ranks!

RE: Ranking against total populationposted in Discussions & Feedback
I concur that the entire focus of the developers should be (and likely is) on developing the game right now. As for most topics being old, there is only so much you can discuss about a game that isn't released yet. Too much is speculation, too much subject to change, too much to be tested before commented on.

:(...) a grasp of the game that i will soon play.
And that is the point where I think you're off. In such an early state, there is little to no resemblance mechanically to the game you'd be playing in 3 years, mainly because most of these mechanics do not exist yet. Alpha means 'not feature complete' in game design and I doubt this is any different for Fractured. What you're looking for is a beta, where the features exist and are only subject to balance, though, a lot of game development companies nowadays sell beta access as alpha access.

RE: lost my little dear key </3posted in Questions & Answers
The invitations to pre-alpha are sent out in several waves, not in one go. The first wave consisted only of around a dozen people, the second wave is supposed to start sometime around this week (small delays are to be expected with early alpha testing). You can read up on the details in this news posting. All that said, I fear that most people have a seriously wrong expectation of an early alpha test. That is less 'playing a game' and more 'boring, trying to come up with every way of breaking the game, then trying to reproduce an error, writing a detailed report and possibly even going through log files'.

RE: WASD to move and Mouse to aim?posted in Questions & Answers
I personally would prefer WASD as well, but I have faith that the developers are still capable of creating an enticing and entertaining system around click to move for Fractured. I'd recommend taking a look at how it's handled around Alpha 2/Beta 1 in youtube videos so you can get a rough idea on it @Lipehaha

As Specter mentioned in this thread:
@specter said in Pre Alpha:@rocky The pre-alpha is under an NDA. The participants can't talk about it.

RE: How many years of dev are we estimating until full release?posted in Questions & Answers
The predicted release is Q3 2021, but that is to be taken with a big cone of uncertainty.
The currently predicted pre-alpha has been marginally off, but the further along development you get, the less predictable delays and hiccups.
