      Is there a new timeline? Pledge integration seems to be significantly delayed.

      Yes, I'd appreciate that!

      I went with Town Conquests, Balancing and Alchemy. Alchemy basically might be a big part of balancing, if it contains use-able potions for buffs.

      Once the bureaucratic stuff is done, we’ll release the store, coupled with a small website update. That should be in a few days hopefully!(...)'

      Not that great of a start. I wonder why software developers have a tendency to underestimate problems they could encounter. It's far better to

      (...) This is why choosing a "trusted" publisher means so much more than a few percent of income up/down you have to agree to share with them(...)

      I don't think it's that easy, since they want financial backing by the publisher as well (right?). I doubt that every publisher out there is willing to take the investment and the longer the negotiations take, the smaller your current funding, the higher the pressure to accept.

      (...) Every log out of a character can be a saved/backup state so you don’t lose the character details(...)

      Please don't take this the wrong way, I am not trying to criticize you (I highly value your feedback), but instead I am trying to understand your level of proficiency in programming, so that I can respond in a reasonable way.
      Do you know the difference in deep and shallow copy of object instances in OOP?

      (...)I seriously doubt WoW and Eve do world copies every week.

      I honestly have no idea how WoW or EVE handle their servers, I've never played either.

      @jahlon said in daily maintenance:

      (...)Mistakes happen(...)

      Most certainly, but that is where watchdogs come into play, which should be running regardless, given that you want to be capable of a fast reaction 24/7.

    • RE: daily maintenance

      @jetah said in daily maintenance:

      (...)why would backups only be done during maintenance?(...)

      There are multiple reasons for that. One is the server structure, namely how dependencies are handled. I'm not sure how familiar you're with programming, but you could somewhat compare that to shallow copy and deep copy.
      Another reason is that, depending on the storage and how far back you want to keep sane states, you want to avoid taking and storing a new snapshoot every few seconds.
      And last but not least, there is performance. Taking a 'sane copy' of the state of the world is no cheap task for the CPU and the HDD/SSD.

      @jetah said in daily maintenance:

      I can cope with weekly but daily hurts someone.

      The drawback to that is, if there's a corruption of data and you have to set back the server to the last sane state, would you rather loose a week of playtime, or a day?

      @jahlon said in daily maintenance:

      They already said there will be regional sercers.

      'Once the userbase grows (or from the start, if large enough), we can start deploying regional servers.'
      There is no guarantee, this only happens once the user base is large enough.

      @jahlon said in daily maintenance:

      As far as server maintenance gotta remember it's when dev's are up, a wake, and working. You may be in luck, since the dev's are in Italy

      That can be automated. There is no need for the developers to be awake.

      on albion online it’s from 12am to 1pm in france, so just during the work break. that really annoying.

      There might be regional servers in Fractured, depending on the playerbase, so if that happens, you could always migrate to a server where the timeslot fits your personal schedule.
      That said, I' not sure how SpatialOS handles maintenance, it might be drastically different from a normal concept.

    • RE: daily maintenance

      I think you misunderstood suruq's question @muker , he wasn't asking about a daily quest reward, but about maintenance of the server (a small timeframe where servers are saving data in case something happens and data has to be restored later on, together with clearing any issues that might have occured since the last maintenance).
      I don't think we know and answer to that yet.

      @jetah said in what do you like to see next from the developers?:

      (...)why wouldn't you want new cash coming in?(...)

      You would want new cash, but at the same time, you want to avoid people seeing the project, thinking that's not flashed out, and heading on without dropping money. There are studies to that field and it's a lot more financially viable in the long term to give people a stunning first impression (if that is possible, and as far as we know, it is, since Dynamight Studios is financially stable).
      That doesn't mean you wouldn't give updates to your existing community, which is entirely different from a promotion!

      (...)promote(...)

      I'd say focus on development before promotion at this point in time. It would be extremely helpful to retention rate to have more to showcase and there is only 'one first impression'.

      @logain That was probably a best case scenario. Give 'em a little bit longer. Betting there is a lot to do when it comes to those sorts of things.

      I'm not trying to push them, but rather wanted to make sure things didn't go horribly wrong with my pledge (or an email getting lost in the spam folder or whatever else).
      That said, in case you miss such a 'deadline', it would be really nice to at least mention it to your customers (and provide a new guesstimate).
