I think you misunderstood me there, sorry for not expressing myself better.
I am not saying they should 'rush' things, quite far from that, but they have set goals and these goals are important to me, since they are what they claim to be financially viable and secure. So if they drastically miss these goals, the predicted timeline is more and more unreliable and as such is funding. A lack of funding and a missing proper prediction of timeline are the factors that most often kill projects, as simple as that.
So, if they can show they meet their own goals, it means they were able to properly predict and manage resources, which raises the likelihood of that happening again in the future and as such the game being released.
Does that make more sense now?
