    • RE: July 24th Housing & Towns Q&A: List Your Questions

How does a guard protect a town (do they teleport to people asking for help and automatically kill the offender, or do they have to walk somewhere and actually put up a fight in which they can be defeated)?

Will a guild town turn into a Hamlet after losing enough prestige and thus oust the current Governor? If so, wouldn't that "disconnect" the town (now a hamlet) from the guild so they would have to start over to claim it?

      Follow up question:
Roughly how much time do you guesstimate would be required to keep a town on it's prestige level (preventing it from going back to Hamlet)?

      (...)What's so bad about that?(...)

As there's a limited amount of 'town spots' on the map and these are further limited by which ones can go to city/metropolis, I imagine that quite a few people are going to try and 'abuse' that by making 'alt account guilds', then claiming the spot with the character and thus eternally locking off everybody else from building there, as it can not be removed (e.g. have five alt characters on five 20€ accounts, use your group to clear the territories, move the alt there and effectively get control of five 'metropolis spots' forever, possibly even selling them off for RL money later).

Did I get that right, a guild leader who's Governor on the Beast planet can not be removed from power (no siege and no vote)?

Is there any chance that you could elaborate a bit on the metrics you're going to use for this decision? (For example, are you going to look at total amount of player, at concurrent players, at peak times/low times, at the distribution of Beast/Human/Demon,...)

You'll be able to play on multiple servers if you want(...) You can play on two different servers, if that's what you're asking (...) The horizontal progression of Fractured makes that much more doable - no "new character to grind to level 70" in the "other server".

Does playing another server use a 'character slot' (global amount), or are 'character slots' per server?

All in all, a decent compromise, I'd say, depending on where the line of 'enough players' is drawn and how bad latency really played out in Fractured.

(...)* During a siege houses are safe, but if you loose the siege, what happen to your house and every items inside?

Follow up question: If your house is destroyed due to lack of repair, what happens to your items (in case that differs from treatment of sieges)? And does that process start at some point during decay (e.g. a wall is destroyed and people can walk inside), or only at the very end?

One suggestion for the next Q&A, post the spotlight first, so people have a basic foundation to ask reasonable questions (dive deeper).

One question I'd have would be:
Do attributes play a role in crafting (strength -> blacksmithing and the like)?

I think you misunderstood me, I'm sorry, I should have tried to word this in a better way.
While you can move under such conditions, you are not as fast and as agile as without them, especially over time, as I hope combat would last longer than 3 seconds (click, click dead would be a bit boring, since there's no grind).
Have the guy in the video race in shorts and compare results.

@sharo said in Gear and element resistances:

@logain which other ones would you like to see

It depends on which route they are taking. Most modern games work with buffs (to have a psychological 'positive effect') for items (e.g. light armour would make you run faster), whereas the logic (and reality like) way would be to have 'less debuffs' (heavy armour would make you run slower and light armour would have less of a negative effect). I prefer the later solution, but fear they are going with the first.
If they go with the first version, there's always the possibility to 'adjust buffs' depending on environment (e.g. swamp influences run speed depending on your armour, lightning resistance depending on your armour, and so on and so forth), to augment certain schools/effects based on equipment... there's a plethora of ways.

I'd hope (and assume) that gear is as situational as skills are planned to be and in fact does complement them. Resistance is a way to achieve something like that, but by far not the only one.

(...)as long as not every single last one does this the game makes a net profit(...)

You want to avoid refunds like the plague as a video game company. Not only does it cost you more to refund then you got from the customer (actually it can get worse then the 30% @Jetah mentioned), but your payment provider could decide to grant you worse conditions or even terminate your contract. Ad if that wouldn't be bad enough yet, the person asking the refund likely leaves a bad review and hence deters potential customers from a purchase.

@mazikar said in Haven't pledged? Want to upgrade, but not sure yet? Tell us why!:

(...)I think if we help push this game a bit harder its going to do well (...) if we simply start talking over on their main page of the kickstarter(...)

I'm all in for that, but I'd expect Dynamight Studios to release content more frequently as well. The spotlights on towns, buildings, sieges,... that's the activity the Kickstarter needs now (or actually would have needed in the first few days). If they provide the topic and information people are going to start discussing.

      (...)Activity on your kickstarter(...)

I agree there, but mainly on the developer side. The promised spotlights should have already been published instead of the 'cosmetics' updates. Because that gives people something to discuss and talk about and might even help convince one or two people.

@mazikar said in Haven't pledged? Want to upgrade, but not sure yet? Tell us why!:

      (...)involve sharing on social media(...)

I wouldn't argue against the efficiency of social media, what I wasn't sure about is the effect of being on the front page of Kickstarter.

(...)it is sliding down... and if it dips off the front page... well...

Has being on the page really got people unfamiliar with the game before to pledge, or are all the pledges done by people who have been part of the community already? Because if there's no new blood coming from outside, being on the front page wouldn't really matter that much.
