I don't know if I'm going to (be allowed to) test anything, since the vision of the game is more and more drifting towards a casual Diaboloesque 'relaxed, mindless mass PvE slaughter with minimal player interaction' instead of what was originally hinted at, which means I won't invest much in the Kickstarter, which means it's likely I'm going to drop out of the Leaderboard

I HOPE you're going to be there in order to at least provide a minimal balance for the 'PvE only folks', even though I think they already won and PvP is going to be a 'secondary thought/aspect' in Fractured. That said, the Kickstarter is going to massively shake up the ranking, so, depending on your purse/what you're willing to spend, you still have a decent chance.

I'm going to use chess here as an example. I'd say chess is a challenging game, because if you want to have any chance of success, you need to plan ahead with your moves against a half decent opponent. So, requiring you to plan ahead due to restriction can be a challenging but rewarding experience to some.
Food/water is a good example in this case, since if used as restriction, it means you have to plan ahead before extending into different territory, just like you'd want to plan properly before heading into the desert or arctic, or heck even on a longer trip into the wilderness, unless you know that you can find the food and shelter in that wilderness. -

Can you 'define' friendly fire? Normally, the term would indicate that if a third person gets in the line of fire between you and the target, the ray/projectile/hit no longer hits the target, but that third person. How could you do that in a game with free targeting (you can freeze a river, so you need to be able to aim at said river...), while keeping your 'only consensual PvP - mantra'? If I can aim anywhere and deal damage to anything in that line (friendly fire), I could easily kill a Beastman as Beastman?

I'd agree that w do not need too many "pain in the ass" mechanics. Game is supposed to be relaxing and fun.
That's a matter of personal preference. Some want a game to be 'relaxing', some want a game to be 'challenging', both type of games have their dedicated target audience.

I'm not sure, but I think we have a different definition of 'friendly fire'? When arrows/ice beam/ice spray/AoE jump damage would have 'hit' the other player, he didn't seem to take damage, did he? Only once targeted, he took damage and that's not friendly fire, that's intentionally attacking (though with a 'miss-click')?
Don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE to have friendly fire (it's way too easy without, as you could see in the video just walking through killing everything in the way), but I thought the PvE/PvP thread mentioned friendly fire won't exist? -
