    • What kind of game do you hope Fractured will be?

So I had a good conversation with @Tuoni regarding attribute points and we're on the different side of opinions. It made me think, what does the majority of the forum-posters think about this? Granted, forum posters are the smallest amount of users, next to forum lurkers and then non-forum players - but having this info could be useful!

My advocacy is for more RPG, character identity is important to me and I don't like having a blank slate that can be changed "on the fly" or easy enough. Think yellow lotus potion in Conan Exiles, if you're familiar - and that's a sandbox survival where it makes more sense than an RPG! And that game can't have alts!

      @Callgirl
You won't be able to play NOW if you buy the beta access. And even if you did, they only open it up for a week or two at a time during testing periods. It's not a "play whenever you want to" game. This isn't even an early access game, it's a very very small piece of the full game. The backers are intended to "test" the current content, not "play the game earlier than everyone else."

    • RE: [QoL Suggestion] Packing Station Storage accessiblity with just one click

This is a good QoL suggestion that doesn't break immersion at all. It's not "automating" things, it's accessing another location in the building to get to the storage. Instead of being tabs, it'll work like two individual stations/containers.

    • RE: Concerns related to the attributes

@Tuoni The stat weights of the attributes follows how dungeons and dragons does it; the higher the value you go the more it costs. This is to encourage more balanced builds, or if you want to go all in on certain stats then it punishes the flexibility of it. With the ability to have multiple characters I don't see why rerolling attributes should be an option, if you're unsure of what to do you can make a more balanced build instead of a min-maxed build for your first character.

I don't know about renaming the item, but I'm okay with having the crafter's name branded in the item's description.

I agree - giving the players the ability to name items can be immersion breaking, especially with the ability to create inappropriate names. Having the crafter's name in the item details would be a good way to let people know who created it.

@Tuoni said in Concerns related to the attributes:

Like I already answered for Mudz, this a sandbox game not a themepark were rerolling characters should be a core. Think all the new players who have not tested the game in test phases and how much mistakes they will make at the character creation stage. They do not have the knowledge what would be the best solution or what they will actully end up to do in the game. And if I think this from my personal point of view, lets say I have used most of my points for strenght and constitution, and then I want to reroll for a caster after a year. I am quite sure that I do not want to start a new character just because of that. SBI did this mistake in Albion Online where it was made too hard to change the "class" and role or at least it was behind a long grind. Now they have made a change where you can drain the progression from a spear for example and move that to another weapon. This was a pure quality of life change to prevent players to quit the game because respeccin was made too hard.

My biggest problem with free availability to reroll is you lose character identity and choice and just have a blank template. To me, that breaks a big part of any RPG. If you can just apply a blank template to any character, why have more than one character at that point? Or why have more than three if you want to try one of each race? Choice -should- matter. If you want to be a jack of all trades, put 13-14 points into every stat and you'd be perfectly able to pull that off WITHOUT breaking character identity. But if you're rolling around in full plate mail, sword and board, and the tankiest dude ever - you shouldn't be able to be in full cloth and the ΓΌbernuts caster in 10 minutes.

Of course, just my opinion of an aging gamer that doesn't need instant gratification/change because of a choice I made earlier πŸ™‚

    • RE: Skills gained through different means

Getting non-combat skills would be fun.
I wouldn't expect any combat skills to be gotten by gathering/processing/profession stuff, but definitely should be rewarded for doing more of it. Right now they exist as knowledge but it's a one-shot thing - it's either you have it or you don't, there's no knowledge grind for these things, just a checklist if you have it or not.

@Tuoni I gave one reason why it could have a negative impact on other players that choose to not reroll, you just chose to disregard it. That's more than just my "personal affections." I didn't bother thinking of or listing more because you asked why it would bother someone what other people do to their characters.

The poll got more votes! Both values are going up, Sandbox picked up some percentage points!

Edit: We're basically going back and forth though without bringing new value to the thread; just adding more bloat. So I'ma respectfully bow out after this post.

@Jetah said in Gobblin Enforcer can't be killed by solo mage:

@PedroBillyMattos said in Gobblin Enforcer can't be killed by solo mage:

@Jetah I was wearing the ragged cloth. But I wasn't in it's reach so that didn't matter and even in the mobs reach it couldn't solo kill me, the bandages healing worked fine. The problem I found was that my DPS was not hig enough to beat its healing.

sounds like a gear problem, not an 'in alpha, it's op' problem. if we're able to solo everything nearly naked then the game is doomed to fail.
      get geared and try again.

What gear is there that increases caster dps?
His ragged clothes weren't the issue as he said, and he said it's a dps issue not a survival issue.
I've got 100% knowledge in everything and basically crafted everything (all 23 creatures) as well and don't know what you're talking about.

    • RE: Concerns related to the attributes

@Tuoni said in Concerns related to the attributes:

At the moment the reason looks like to be a character identity which is quite small roleplaying feature tbh, everyone can cherish their character's identity if they want to, however, I do not know why anyone should care about other players characters' identities.

You seem to think character identity is a minor issue and a thing for roleplayers. You thought I RP because I value character identity. Allow me to give you an example. Pick a movie or comic that you really like the immersion, if you even care about that. Now imagine every scene the character was different; it'd be a jarring experience and the directors/writers would probably be raked over the coals for their consistency being atrocious. My wife, who's a game never role played in her life, thinks character identity is important. But wait! That's impossible! She must be role playing then!

And since you keep insisting that so little people care about character identity, here's some bullshit I can spout: Even LESS people care about rerolling their main to do anything and everything whenever they want. All you've done in this thread is keep moving the goalpost or denying opposing ideas and claiming they don't count because "it doesn't affect many people." You keep thinking people care about OTHER PLAYER IDENTITY - that isn't the opposing points But hey, you'll just bury your head in the sand and keep pretending that's what it's about.

Here's a page I'll take from your book. Only a minor amount of players want to be lazy, have such poor planning, and doesn't want to be accountable for their decisions care about having this "QoL" issue (which let's be honest, it isn't one) added to the game. Did I channel you correctly? It looks like I did. And if you don't think so, I want you to seriously re-read all your responses in this thread from the opposing viewpoints. But I know you won't. And no, don't ask. I'm not role playing with you right now.

You're not even following this thread! More people oppose this idea than support; but hey, it's just a small amount of people. If you keep repeating that enough and shouting it from the rooftops, eventually it'll be true right? I know you won't bother to actually go through the thread, cause that goes against your belief of not having any accountability for your decisions, so I did it for you.

This is every poster in this thread.
Agrees with you (5 people): Tuoni, Roccandil, FibS (I think?), Farlander, Razvan
Agrees with me (8 people): Manaia, Mudz, Eurav, Mindark, Vaulks, Gibbx, KairosVal, dj35
Cash shop only options (3 people): Gothix, NeroulGB, PeachMcD
You probably will claim that people who know how math works are so few and it's for role players, so that doesn't count. 8 is greater than (more) 5. More people oppose your point of view in this thread.

To make things easier for you, the thread I made: https://forum.fracturedmmo.com/topic/10551/what-kind-of-game-do-you-hope-fractured-will-be
There's a poll regarding this thread, but to get an easier viewpoint. 16 (59%) agree with me, 11 (41%) agree with you. There are pretty blue lines that show so you can see that if math is too hard for you to grasp.

So admit that you aren't all high and mighty, quit disregarding everyone who gives feedback opposing you, learn to take criticism and accept there can be opposing VALID ideas at any given time.

@Gothix If gear is human readable or we can inspect other players, then you cannot keep anything as a secret. Furthermore, the streaming and video culture what we have in games nowadays also takes care of that everything can be analyzed afterwards. So someone needs to fight once against the team #1 and all the builds are revealed. πŸ˜‰

This, exactly! If character/gear inspection is available, all it takes is time to see what skills the opponents are using.

@Tuoni Yeah, keeping good things like that a secret is next to impossible these days. Even back in the days of early-Internet and before, secrets eventually get out. People are TERRIBLE at telling secrets.

You know what they say: Three can keep a secret, if two of them are dead.

Have you put the materials in the blueprint after placing them? Because the placement itself doesn't cost ressources πŸ™‚

I've successfully built all blueprints requiring things from my inventory (branches, small stone, rope, etc.) and none of them took out of my inventory. Camp Fires, all the work benches, etc.

You can also double-cheese the stone/logs also. Put your cart next to what you're building and double click/spam click. The first one would just do a single, all the others (providing your character just pivots and doesn't move) will do double.

@Whisper said in Would love to see mob loot drops tied to knowledge:

100% drop and they would just be another creature people ignore.

So how I've observed other MMO's handling this, is it doesn't increase the base drop rate, it adds a multiplier to the existing one. So let's say Tier 1 (base knowledge) you have a 3% chance at getting a rabbit foot. Tier 2 is 10% multiplier and Tier 3 is a 25% multiplier. That means that the rabbits foot per tier is: 3%, 3.3%, and 3.75%. This still keeps rare items rare, and common ones just...in more bulk, which shouldn't matter too much due to being common.

    • RE: Life leech on spells / enchants / buff abilities

The biggest issue in life leeching in every game as far as I'm concerned is it always leaches a percentage instead of a static amount; except in said case of WoW. WoW had a static life leach which is what made it perfectly fine, it was also a channeled spell which made it riskier to use. Sure, it scaled with stats, but it didn't scale with "damage" as your other examples did. To reference Diablo III, they completely removed life percentage leech and just kept life on hit/kill.

As long as they keep it a static formula and not "you gain x% life for all damage you do, ever" then it should be fine. And if it's not, it just requires tweaking the formula until it feels right.
