      @Ostaff I'm glad it's a mute topic but I want to make sure I voice my opinion for those who are trying to change that aspect of the game. I was under the impression in this thread others were advocating to make it harder to process materials.

      hmm.. no.. I think that thread was the "Brilliant Idea" guy's thread (Boogis) where he tried to advocate his "brilliance" by increasing crafting times across the board. This one, I believe, was just talking about what we've discussed in the past about permissions being needed on assets to keep thieves away.

      This argument is actually mute, as time consuming tasks are able to be done on a personal plot. There is no reason to use city smelters and tanning tubs, and doubtful that a city would spend the resources to make them, instead we will have all of them put onto a personal plot with "guild only" or other permissions added to them.

      He starts talking about the Tech tree at 52:00 and how in order to get above rank 9 you have to have 3 towns at 54:00.

      All this information is in the last Q&A Twitch.TV stream that Jacobo did. It's about 1.5 hours in length.

      If every city-plot in a continent reach a stage above village

      This actually can not ever happen, as it takes 3 cities to raise a city to its top tier. This means that only one third of all cities will ever be able to be at the highest tier with walls that require siege engines.

      However, it also means that siege engines may not really be a thing? Cause if a city deranks after its vassals are destroyed as was stated in the video, then there will be no need to invest in siege engines when all you have to do is destroy one of the lower tier cities and have the main city derank on its on. Which at that case, you take it over.

    • RE: First Impressions on the new City System

      @OlivePit said in First Impressions on the new City System:

      y has plenty of food or no where near enough depending on if the return is per plant or per squa

      The return is per square. Each farm plot can produce a set amount of crops (250 max), however the terrain also determines how much crops are able to be harvested (mountain terrains have terrible production of crops) and soil fertility as well as hydrogation have a major factor to play as well, this means that for the most part you will be getting less than maximum output. The way they have set up the farm system is that a low to mid ranked town may feed themselves from their city-based farm plots, however high tier cities will need to import crops from Cities with Fertile Grounds if they themselves are not a fertile ground city.

      -Remember that settling costs money which can be set by the governer. If they do not want people settling they can raise the price and make exceptions for players that they approve of by kick backs or temporary price reduction.

      Jacobo pretty much covered this problem area in his live Q&A, our concerns had arisen from the News Article which had been released before the Q&A was presented. If they follow through on what we discussed in the Q&A, I think the bulk of the problems will have been dealt with properly.

      ever griefing is easier than preventing, the feature

      I don't really think time consuming tools such as smelters and tanning tubs will be used by the common player in public places. Also, supposedly the Governor will be able to dictate who can use the city's facilities and therefore the city ones will be used by people they trust as they will need to "Apply for the Craftsman role" (??). Anyways, the point is... public tanning tubs and smelters won't be used much if at all, that is pretty much a thing of the past used only in the earlier alphas.

      @GreatValdus

      This is the reason that smelters and tanning tubs are allowed on personal property so that only you can use them. If you are using a public/city smelter or tanning tub, then you are doing so at your own risk.
