      Considering the premise of Fractured as a sandbox with "hardcore"/inconvenient elements like having to physically bend over and pick up lumber, one log at a time, and place it in a handcart in order to move it from A to B... I expect that, to the devs and many of the backers, that's part of the fun. Count me among them; the end result is that I feel like I've truly accomplished something when it takes time and effort.

      Playing this game is reminding this old hippie of one of the Substance Users Pearls of Wisdom(tm):
      "When you're high, every task is a production number. When you're tripping, it's an ordeal."

      Fractured breaks down so many goals a person might choose into LOTS of component parts (hmmm... the name is more apt than I'd realized til just this moment). That's a feature, not a bug, so if you hate that it's a good thing to find out NOW.

    • RE: Plans for Enchanting?

      As a citizen of Meridian, I had access to a beautiful collection of reagents put together by my guildies. It was a happy couple of hours deciding what buffs I wanted on my new gear.

      In a previous test, before there were cities and I was playing solo, it was definitely more challenging. In a future test, I suspect there will be folks who set themselves up as craftor/vendors and make gear available for a price.

      What is it you actually wanted, @Woode? An instant (or easily obtained) set of strongly enchanted gear to go hunting in? I'm not sure that's either a realistic expectation or a desirable thing, tbh. If the expectation that excellent gear takes real work defeats you, you're gonna hate building a house.
      😰 😖 😲 That takes all day!! 🤣 🤣 🤣

      Quick responses:

      • I totally agree that town buildings need to have special symbols on the minimap. It's such a pain trying to remember the layout - and I'm actually usually sober while I'm playing.

      • The new stone system is definitely harsh, but as long as it's the same harsh on everyone I guess that's just something I live with.

      • I've seen others (e.g. @Nekrage ) giving feedback about the town upkeep system - pretty sure that's going to be adjusted b4 the next test.

      • Mages normally study for years to be able to enchant ANYTHING. Fractured players have a sweet system guide here: http://theshadowempire.net/public_enchantments.php

      • I love my horse! Makes seeing the world so much easier! I see folks are having real problems finding them - I wonder whether we could add those to the trading system, bc my guild has plenty.

      See you in there!

      @Kralith Absolutely. There are 1000 more important things than animations.

      Just wanted to get this feedback submitted before it slipped my mind.

      THIS is the kind of person I want in my alpha test. And Kralith is also someone who does a great job of posting their issues so that the team can resolve them.

      Y'all are heroes!

      Great to see! Will the glut of rice be deleted so the market can stabilize? Or will @Loki keep conning newbies in the chat? 😆 😈

      Next patch, @Prometheus, can we puh-leeeeez deal with the 'can't build anything in my own house' glitch that's been ongoing since the second alpha? I know poor tired @Specter would be your #1 fan if you did 😉

    • RE: I wish casual players to have blacksmithing , leatherworking etc benches in their land.

      @Razvan said

      Shiva, but we also got hermit plots. Those should also have some purposes. I think that the focus of these alphas was the guild content, because that appeals to most people, but solo content will come eventually.

      +1 this

      I noticed, in my travels, that there are always a few 'hermit plots' near fertile fields and mining nodes. This will be cool for the players who are dedicated miners or farmers for their guilds. They might not want to live in town but can use the town's resources & crafting centers. Wouldn't be a bad life at all!

      I also saw that there are always a few 'hermit plots' near the entrances to mob camps. I really appreciated the players who built on those & placed public hearths for recharging 😍 🔥 :💞

      But I also reckon there's some entrepreneurial potential for a player who wants to sell new armor and weapons to folks who just got theirs trashed by a legend 💰 🗡 🛡 ⚔ 🤑

      @Gnoor @Shivashanti

      Pretty sure the 'hermit plots' outside cities and near mining nodes are the dev's way of encouraging exactly what you're talking about. City upkeep being a constant pressure on the city leadership, I'm guessing that joining a city will involve some expectations, tho.

      A solo-style player might like to live close to the tanners and the smithies and the merchant shops of the big city but I doubt they'll be welcome to use those for long without making some active contributions.

      The strongest cities/guilds will be those that have the best synergy & citizen solidarity - offering excellence in city services & support for player growth in return for equitable input for the good of the whole.

      realistically, it would make more sense (to me personally) to have a silo where sacks could be stored and the upkeep would be automatically deducted, instead of making sacks of stuff, putting them in a cart, and bringing them to the town hall.

      @Kralith is just pointing out a problem with the default setting for 'open this unit' that adds unnecessary clicks to an already tedious process. Not saying piling grain into my wagon shouldn't be tedious at all (that's realistic!). Just saying it shouldn't be unrealistically, needlessly tedious.

      The day I decided alpha testing was not for me and stopped playing.

      Fair enough 🤣 I don't deny the incompleteness and bugs try a person's patience. And patience isn't ordinarily my long suit. Still, taken as what it is, there is already much to enjoy for me and I wondered what others thought.

      @Logain is right - alphas aren't set up for fun AND there needs to be some incentive for folks to participate. It's definitely true that a large % didn't continue playing to the end.

      So it might help the devs to learn what people did enjoy (they've already heard LOTS about what annoyed us!)

      It's always a fine, sunny day in Syndesia, so my toon saves inventory weight when harvesting crops by gardening nekkid 😀 She's started just wearing a couple pieces of 'damaged' gear to keep from being too squishy when she meets the dire wolf who spawns just outside the city on the way to her fertile fields. This snip is a keeper!

      @Trug said

      • Mostly my bad for not reading enough ahead of time, but I had no idea that the talents existed until Saturday. Might be good to include the talents in the tutorial the same way it already walks you through skills.
      • Targeting mobs is messy. I did finally figure out that I could right click to just swing away without accidentally looting things mid-fight, but it's still hard to pick any one combatant out in a melee.

      👍 for these, and thanks @Trug!

      In just a few game-hours, I think I talked 3 or 4 new players through the 'how to add a talent preset and memorize it' procedure. That's a clue the devs should be hearing. That said, the tutorial is way basic at this point. It doesn't tell a new player HOW to do much, it just instructs them to try to do things - not even rewards for figuring the things out and doing them. Not sure whether that's the plan for the long run, but I'd be all the way down with working on a real tutorial w/other players tired of answering basic Qs in chat.

      The melee mess is definitely a 'it is known' sort of thing. Complicated at the moment by the fact that close-range/unarmed mechanic is so buggy. Hoping they've have this straightened out for the next test. 🤞

      As far as being able to rebind hot keys goes, I wouldn't hold my breath. Devs have resisted every suggestion of that sort so far. I'm not an experienced MMO sandbox player, so I don't know why the WASD movement thing feels so important to so many people. I just roll with the game as it is. 🤷

      Thanks again for thoughtful & constructive feedback. Hope to see you in-game! 🖖

    • RE: City / Town Plots Removal

      @Xzait - It's totally true that people who come in blind and do dumb stuff will be at a distinct disadvantage (whatever the game mechanics end up being).

      That's a big reason I'm playing through these alphas, staying current in the forum, and keeping tabs on new content & parameters. I'm learning a lot this way, and I'm making as many n00b errors NOW as possible 🤣 so when I build my 'forever toon', she'll be as regret-free as I can make her.

      The basic philosophical question, as I see it, is:

      Should the game be built in a way that enables/forgives blind foolishness in order to retain max # of players? Excellent, intelligent arguments can be made on both sides of this question. @Specter might want to move the discussion to a different thread to accommodate the debate. I'm not going to say what I think right now - I might change my mind later 😉

      What's important to note is that the developers have the responsibility for making decisions like this, and then living with the financial and social costs of deciding one way or the other.

      They might decide having a ton of random 'I don't need no stinkin' FAQ folks buy in is what their bizmodel demands... They might decide creating a context where research & deliberation are rewarded is a better idea. 🤷

      I am not the one to make this decision, but I'll live with it, either way - or not. That's how capitalism works, as I understand it. I'm not disagreeing with your point, Xzait - I'm just pointing out that your point begs a larger question 🖖

    • RE: Say Chat?

      I haven't played a lot of games, and none that I've played has had chat bubbles. I'm inclined to agree with @GamerSeuss (who is very experienced in game creation) that in a larger party it would add to confusion. I'm already too easily confused! 🤦 😝

      More urgent, imo, in terms of QoL for chat, is the ability to mute/block trolls/spammers. Once that gets done we can talk about other improvements in the comm system, but that's gotta be first on the list. PLEASE FFS, @Specter can't always be there.

      After that, I'd love to be able to use /commands to give my toon a little bit of interactive life:
      sit, bow, wave, dance... wouldn't that be cool?

      I'm gonna third the motion put forward by @Kralith & @GamerSeuss 👍

      So sorry the alpha is finding so many bugs to deal with AND having server problems, but that's the nature of the alpha beast, right? Better to find them now.

      Nonetheless, without healthy, sane devs, the whole system crashes - not just the servers. So please, for us all, I hope y'all will practice good judgement re self-care. ❤ #SleepIsGood

    • RE: "Town controlled area" doesn't exist - how will that work in future?

      @spoletta said in "Town controlled area" doesn't exist - how will that work in future?:

      Honestly I believe that @idioticmaddog had the best idea in this regard.
      Restrict the resources to the residents of that region.
      A compromise between the actual system which allows too much freedom and the previous sytem which was too restrictive.

      Improves trading and gives "control" over an area.

      I would definitely be down for trying this in the next test - but only in conjunction w @Kralith's suggestion about the default Olde Towne Tradinge Centere for heavy mats/resources and the more advanced option to invest tech in individualized Shoppes selling craftworks.

    • RE: Let's talk business! (And the lack of it)

      @Kralith said

      I also suggested to change Marketplace Tech.
      Give all towns the old Marketplace as a basic building, where towns can buy/sell heavy materials, that what they need for the first ranks.
      Then change the Tech for Marketplace to "Player Market" as an upgrade where you add Market Stands to the Market where player can sell/buy their own stuff.

      This is a really solid idea that gets around pretty much all the issues people have with the current set-up. Ye Olde Towne Markete Squaree (buildable from day one) could be used to traffic only in the sorts of materials that one carries in a wagon or cart - not a backpack, so no crafted items, just heavy mats and bags o' agricultural products.

      The advanced tech could open a more robust, individualized trading option - where crafted, enchanted, or specialized items are traded by individuals at the 'Squaree' in a 'Shoppe' with a small % to the city as stall rental.

      What say ye all?

    • RE: Flawless Jewels and the Legends - two problems

      @Kralith said

      1. Because of the need of Flawless Jewels, people started to run each ore node to mine them and leave the ore on ground, so that they despawn and are taken out of the game.
        This is especially a problem, since ore nodes are not town bounded anymore.
        With a respawn timer of them from 4-6 hours, to get ore will be a huge problem in future, if it stays as it is.

      Whoa. I know exactly what sort of person runs rampant over resources, disregarding anyone else, and leaving messes for other people to clean up, in order to get rewards for themselves. They used to be in control of the White House. 🙄
