RE: Tame monsters and make them accompany youposted in Discussions & Feedback
A quick look at the wiki re the CHA stat talents showed a Whole Lot of them haven't been implemented yet. One of those, Beastmaster looks particularly relevant to this discussion.
The balance aspect is the reason the animal companions we can get in the store aren't battle aides. Moral support & cuteness are also important though!
Looking forward to seeing how the animal command/tame features work, when they roll those out. Would be so cool to be able to de-escalate a bear or a wolf instead of having to kill them

RE: Who wants to help me build Specializations, Combat Classes, and Magicalsposted in Discussions & Feedback
This is a really cool idea, but you might want to wait until the talent tree is fully developed before you wiki all these builds. Things have changed pretty drastically in every test so far, and I expect that will be the case right up until launch.
Having a decent, updatable archive of tested builds will be a real service - but (like the enchanting guides) there's gonna be some major flux from test to test. The thread @GreatValdus supplied is where we've been putting that stuff up to now.

RE: Int and Cha required stats? = Unbalanced?posted in Discussions & Feedback
This whole discussion is so important for me, since I haven't played much MMORPG and have never done much PvP in any game. I really appreciate the expertise of those in this thread w lots of experience, even when y'all don't agree!
My contribution to the discussion is a reminder that the CHA stat hasn't been developed yet bc the devs know the basic toons are mages and fighters, and CHA is going to be a more important stat for more complicated builds, and for races that don't exist yet, and for support toons like bards/tamers.
So before y'all lock in your ideas about what's crucial and what to dump, remember that the talent tree is far from finished, and new potentially awesome builds are going to be available in every test. I'm really looking forward to the CHA tree, as someone who has loved playing a bard in other games.

Can this chicken grill itself?
What kinda post-modern Foucault shizzle is this? If the mobs start grilling themselves what will the vegetarians complain about?

@Razvan
Thanks for all the input !
It is information like that I cant get just watching videos and looking at builds or the wiki.
I look forward to playing and seeing the free form class developments.More than in other games I've played, regular participation in the discussions here has helped me avoid costly/fatal errors. The experiences I've had playing different toons and builds in the alphas as the game progresses are doing the same.
I honestly feel for the players who will come in blind - buying the game and believing that they should be able jump in and have the same kind of success as those who have invested time and money in developing their approach. Compassion for them doesn't, however, mean I want to build the game so that they will be able to do that!

That said, anyone who buys in has the ability to create at least 3 toons, and/or delete a faulty toon and start over
For the content creators who are giving out advice for a living:
It will be a true service to let your subscribers know how important an informed approach is with this game. Post the FAQ in the 'about' for your videos and twitch streams & recommend participating constructively in the forum as ways to avoid fatal errors. -
RE: Int and Cha required stats? = Unbalanced?posted in Discussions & Feedback
@OlivePit - I totally see your point & I'm glad you brought this up. I'm fairly new to MMORPG, and character builds scare the f out of me. I see people talk about min-maxing, but can't imagine doing it myself. Every point I take away from any of the stats feels like such a loss, even if it adds something elsewhere. I'm esp. wary of taking points away from INT and STR for the exact reasons you mention.
BUT!! In the last alpha I was playing a fighter, and realized that I honestly only needed/used a couple of spells/abilities regularly, so this part:
In addition the main counter to a high strength and constitution fighter, would be magic statuses, but this does not happen because even a melee fighter needs a high int for the memory points.
...would be less scary for me next time out. I can see myself playing a 'specialist' that depends more on developing the efficacy of a few abilities, and having several 'mini-builds' using talent presets and two or three abilities tied to those talents. See what I mean?
Not taking away from the importance of what you posted, just noting that there's a workaround that could be very effective in-game.

RE: Fractured MMO 14 Schools of Magic & Fighting AND SKILLS & SPELLSposted in Creative Corner
I liked it, but noted in vid comments that there are several spells you have pulled from the wiki that haven't been implemented yet.
Showing the excellent potential is a good idea, but raising expectations of folks who are considering a purchase could backfire if they don't have all the information.

Another game I'm following in development just posted a gif of their SayChat. It helped me visualize how this would look in Fractured.

RE: lurkerposted in Welcome to Fractured
Replying thoughtfully and constructively to the posts others write can earn you rewards that will enhance your game once they launch.
That's been plenty of incentive for me to check in and try to find something thoughtful and constructive to say

Even when I don't 'win' the Foundation Points, the interactions have garnered me excellent new 'forumfriends' and what I learn by following the smart ones will help me considerably down the road.
Hope to see you posting!

RE: The city of many namesposted in Town Planning
Cooperation btw smaller guilds w complimentary focus seems like a natural evolution to me. It's hard to know what the final city structure/ requirements will be at this point, but for purposes of this test, it will definitely be a smart move.

RE: Cities, Permissions, Griefingposted in Questions & Answers
Yike!
Sounds like it would be a good idea to implement the Craftsperson role/permissions sooner rather than later. It always astonishes me that there are people out there whose idea of fun is f'ing up other people's fun. This community might seem to have less of that than most, but folks w too much
&
have to amuse themselves somehow - I suppose buying a subscription and ganking/griefing until they get bored, then go buy and f up another game is amusing for the same sort of folks who stan Jared K and Stephen M

there are a few things you can build without any research: houses, the tavern, stockpiles, and the workshop with all the basic crafting stations. Given that cities require 20 players to be claimed now, gaining the first levels is going to be pretty quick, and each level grants 2 research points (= 2 researches), so.. you're soon going to have a flourishing city

That makes sense. I figured it was something like that, but a person can't fit everything into a short video. Thanks so much for the clarification.

RE: Alpha 2 Testing rewards?posted in Discussions & Feedback
Huzzah! I know you're way way crunched @Prometheus, but really appreciate when you give us some idea of your plans re comm. I don't have trouble waiting, personally, but it's nice to have something to tell youngsters chafing at the bit on discord

Please take care of yourself! Whatever the pressures of work may be
, or the desire to finish quickly
, nothing is worth getting sick while this nasty virus is killing people.

RE: Tech Tree, Marketplace & Money For Dynamightposted in News & Announcements
So many YT views already - folks are chomping at the bit! This vid is gonna make some waves, methinks.
Question: do city owners start with a certain number of Research Points?
In an alpha situation, w a very limited time frame, it's gonna be tough to wait days or weeks to complete the basic researches. Choosing btw farming, architecture, & manufacturing, for example. Yike!
When things launch for real it might be more realistic, but if we only have a month or so? Or am I misunderstanding something?
