    • RE: Will Fractured upgrade on what Albion Online did

      I’m not familiar with Albion, but if you can directly purchase gold for $$$ that would cause an unregulated currency injection. Not really ideal.

      The best way to do it (imho) is to tie it to premium game time tokens. For example, allow players to buy a token of 30 day game time, and make that item trade-able. That way a player can purchase premium time with in game credits, and the supplier can get their gold for mulah. It’s a nice symbiotic relationship. It might work like that in Albion already, like I said... I’ve never played it.

      Other miscellaneous:
      Housing already seems like it’s going to be pretty sick, just off of what the founders rewards are. If the founders rewards are diverse, I can’t imagine what will be in game.

      Grinding for exp, there are no levels in Fractured. Purely knowledge and horizontal progression for a diverse ability set

      One thing I do agree on is having founders items claimable on all characters for an account. It’s always bit me the wrong way when I have a nice cosmetic I can’t use on another character

    • RE: When will the game come out to public?

      It’s also important to note that Fractured will probably be buy to play. That can always change, but that’s the plan at the moment IIRC

    • RE: Long time no Poll [Housing Poll]

      @Eurav

      I’m actually not surprised. If housing in landmark was any indication... people love being lavish.

      Maybe it’s a bias on my part too 😛

      Resources are secondary to having the best party mansion obviously.

      I’m most excited for the dungeons/labyrinth mechanics that they’ll come up with. Procedural dungeons, if done well... can really help accentuate the game.

    • RE: Discuss how to get more people engaged

      This may be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t think now is the best time for a huge push. There are a few crowdfunded/small studio games that I am following... and I’ll just note one important aspect of one of them.

      In Dual Universe there are packs that give access to DU in various stages (much like Fractured). Unfortunately, their pre-alpha basically became the alpha and we’ve been in this “pre-alpha but those who have access to alpha have access to pre-alpha” state for about half a year. We just recently hit the true alpha.

      Now the problem arises when people assume they will be getting access to betas and whatnot relatively soon. It’s no fault of the developers, but as time moves on those people lose interest. Sure, a consolidated outreach could raise some revenue... but it could also be detrimental long term. The general section of their forums is relatively dead, unfortunately. I guess, the point being that we don’t know how long the alpha (or any phase) will last.

      The best time for a true push should be when there is a strong backbone “tier 0” (as star citizen devs call it) of all the game loops.

      As for getting people involved currently, I think it’s best to recruit friends and acquaintances that you know have patience and would be interested in actually following the development.

    • RE: Steam support

      How does that work with F2P games though?

      If nothing is purchased through Steam, wouldn't there be no cut?

      If subs were handled solely through the game, and not Steam of course.

    • RE: everyone's thoughts on the game

      @chrightt

      I absolutely have to agree here. Many of these novel ideas sound absolutely phenomenal on paper. But I’ll really need to see them in action before I can say “this is a [insert game here] killer”. Doing so already really seems to be putting the cart before the horse 😜

      I have faith we will get a great game, it’s why I backed it. But I definitely won’t put on rose colored glasses.

      @Phaethonas

      Need I remind you that cutthroat actions lead to cutthroat retaliations.

      Unity conducted a low blow. Improbable hit back... even harder. Since they had better standing in the issue

      @Kralith I think they've also mentioned convenience items... which is a slippery slope. But I trust them to not overdo it.

    • RE: Game controller stuff

      @owlsanegaming

      It's likely there will not be official gamepad support as I believe it is a point and click scenario.

      However, you may be interested in using Re-WASD. It's a pretty great piece of software that allows you to re-map everything on a controller to mouse and keyboard inputs. (Even the paddles on an Elite controller).

      I imagine the control scheme for Fractured will be pretty similar to PoE (which claims to be controller-unfriendly). I play PoE every now and then with a controller. It's not as efficient as M/kb... but it works. However, I am of the mind that a controller will be more adaptive to Fractured than PoE due to the ability to "click and hold" for movement.

      What can I say, I like lounging away on my couch 😜

    • RE: Spatial OS/Unity

      Haha, thanks! Hadn't noticed. Suppose this can be closed. Pretty unfortunate news, sounds like the people at SpatialOS are open to helping developers transition into whatever is necessary, not really sure what that would entail. But hopefully that won't be necessary

    • Spatial OS/Unity

      Is this a problem for Fractured? I just know that Fractured uses SpatialOS and Unity... not really sure of the implications. Just curious if anyone has more information:

      https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2019/01/unity-engine-tos-change-makes-cloud-based-spatialos-games-illegal/

      Although, I imagine it wouldn't go into affect until new contracts? Doesn't seem like that's the case by the wording of the article...

    • RE: Dungeon Content

      @target

      The randomness is great and all, but we really need a large variety of mobs to make them enjoyable. IMHO, of course.

      The fact that some attacks/spells impact the "environment" around you, I think boss fights could be quite fun here 😜

    • RE: How much time will you spend playing?

      Ditto what others have said, depends on how the game turns out haha.

      At this time, the game will hopefully be a way to take my mind off of other games I am following haha

      Impossible!! Or, that's what some would have you believe 😜

      Because I enjoy PvP, I clearly want to tear down all PvE.

      @lovechildbell

      Maybe, maybe not. If owning an entire world required 100,000 players and all their resources... I'd say it's pretty impossible.

    • RE: The Tides of PVP

      @lovechildbell
      Maybe. There's also the point of making it exponentially hard to control more land. For example, owning 1 unit of land takes x effort. Owning 2 units of land is x^2. 3 x^3. Etc. Balanced as necessary. How that's done in actuality... beats me. I'm not the game designer 😜

      Could be implemented through resource cost, people required for defense... who knows
