      Tldr; the game is about horizontal progression.

      There is no level 1 magic vs level 99 magic. Gear is going to be inconsequential, and easy to reacquire. Thinking otherwise will just set you up for disappointment.

      I’ll be honest, it’s something I’ve never encountered before. And if done incorrectly there may not be enough to keep me coming back. However, I’m willing to give them a chance.

      Face of mankind was fairly similar though. Gear was pretty inconsequential, and there were no skills whatsoever. And I truly enjoyed that game. But, you could increase your combat ability by just being a better player. It was all about true skill, which seems difficult in this style of game.

      The gear that’s supposed to take hardly any time to acquire? Oh right, that gear. There’s a reason bosses don’t drop super duper powerful weapons. That’s not the game they’re creating

      As for the attributes bit you’re stuck up on... you’re just trying to be argumentative. They are clearly saying your character cannot gain attributes via progression/skills. Gear does not add to your character whatsoever, it complements it

      Oof. I don’t think you know exactly what you backed. They’ve been pretty clear on progression from the get go.

      Unfortunately, people are creative with bots. There won’t be official bots of course, but it’s something you always have to prepare for.

      If fractured remains b2p, it won’t be an issue. If every ban costs $20, it’s not worth it. But if it’s free...

      Maybe, maybe not. Depends on how many meatshields you have. Set up strategically placed accounts that are spamming AoE abilities.

      It’s like playing tower defense 😆

      I could see it being 24/7 for X time. Beta is hopefully where all the underlying mechanics are in, it’s all about content generation.

      In fractured, the player is viable from the get go.

      That would only be true if armor didn't give stats. But they do. So starting out you will have crappy stats until you get good gear.

      If armour gives to many stats then the whole premise of fractured will be broken, a brand new good player should always be able to kill a old bad player, because ( no grind = no scaleing)

      So you can not beat skill with time (like common mmos)

      Precisely, it’s the beauty of horizontal progression. Yes gear is helpful, especially in various environments. Some gear is more catered towards frigid climates, others for more moderate... etc.

      But gear won’t have extremely drastic implications on stats as far as I know. There will be slight buffs of course. But I definitely like the direction fractured is going in that regard.

      They’re creating progression where it supports varied gameplay, not necessarily more powerful gameplay.

      @Alexian

      I don’t know if hardcore would be the right term. It’s pretty much the opposite imho.

      Hardcore implies intensive game time in order to become viable. In fractured, the player is viable from the get go.

      Will land ownership be hardcore? Sure, but just like any other game. And that’s on an org level, not really individual. But even then, a new player can take part in conquest with their org... as they are viable.

      Edit:
      Also, to those saying I should have upgraded my pack... you missed the entire point. Kickstarter packs should not be sold for less than they were in the Kickstarter. Period. It’s a slap in the face towards those who backed on Kickstarter, imho of course.

      The real outcry is that packs were sold for 100 less during the going away sale, compared to what they were available at during the Kickstarter.

    • RE: Haven't pledged? Want to upgrade, but not sure yet? Tell us why!

      @Gynz

      Yeah, it’s quite a shame to be honest. I still go in on projects I believe in though. Oath, dual universe, and hopefully torchlight mmo.

      I’ve definitely been burned in the past... but if even one project ends up being gold, I’ll consider it worth it.

      Unfortunately I’m pretty jaded with fractured, definitely lost the spark that was there. Interestingly, it had nothing to do with gameplay or development progress. It’s entirely due to how they handled their pledge packs.

      New backers should never be able to grab Kickstarter packs for less. Aristocrat and creator pledges should not have been made cheaper than the original Kickstarter. The whole thing seemed like a bit of a money grab, which is a shame. I’m sure it’s not what they intended, but it is what it is.

      And when they sold out, they just opened up some more packs lol.

      Edit:
      Almost forgot why I replied in the first place haha. If you’re interested in board games, there’s been a run of GOOD projects with worthy fulfillment. Nemesis, dice throne, gloom haven, and zombicide to name a few.

      Etherfields is another from awaken realms (nemesis creator) that I’m excited for!

      Seems like you’re fibbing, since their actions are the very definition of shafting their Kickstarter backers 🙂

      @Jetah

      Warbond is never sold on old ships. Star citizen has a wonky business model, but they never completely shaft their Kickstarter backers.

      Putting new items in the mix is completely okay with me, which is what that insurance seems to be doing. Think of it like Dynamight adding contractor months to the packs... again, would have been fine with that. The other cool thing about star citizen is that old backers can melt their packs, and get the same exact benefits as the newbros, so all of your arguments are moot really.

      Literally everything you just said was either wrong, or misconstrued in order to back your position. Interesting.

      Edit:
      Don’t get me wrong CIG has conducted predatory tactics, but they’ve never completely shafted the kickstarter packages which is the crux of the matter here.

      I really said I was done, and I’m sorry for that. I think I am after this 😉

      However, I did need to point out that ships in SC never go on discounted sales.

      Every single sale you talk about are on the digital game itself, not Kickstarter assets. Acting like they are the same is just silly hehe

      So that raises the point... of why do it?

      There are much better ways to gain attention and supporters.

      Anyhow, I’m done at this point. Circles and circles

      Strongly agree. I don’t think it’s an unreasonable complaint at all (obviously). I’m totally fine with people being okay with it. But there IS ground for a complaint, and for some it’s a big deal.

      You keep bringing that up as if it makes it okay. Oh it’s fine, most of them are early bird prices. Lol.

      Just find it funny that there aren’t any truly good arguments to be had for the sale. There are many ways to raise funds, many of which I could have jumped on board as well. Instead, they chose predatory tactics

      @Farlander

      I always pledge what I’m willing to lose, I won’t be going hungry if that’s what you’re implying. It IS however, a punch in the gut. I put a good chunk down in good faith, but then they go around and sell the packs off for 100 less? It makes me feel cheap. They didn’t care about my contribution, they just want to move the unowned packs.

      If I can get the 5/hr enjoyment out of a contribution I am satisfied if all things are equal. But things aren’t all equal here, even if I put 1,000 hours into fractured, I’ll always feel tossed aside.

      I actually haven’t gotten too far into dual universe, the alpha is just a bit out of reach for my group. We have been putting a good amount into SC though, which is a lot of fun with a good group. I’m well above my mark on SC already.

      @Greenfox

      Agreement on a lot there. Dual universe has changed up their pledges however, much like dynamight, novaquark sold Kickstarter pledges on their main site for awhile. But they cost the same as the Kickstarter, no discounts.

      Kickstarter backers also get the items found in the new packs, which is a nice bonus I guess... but once again, that’s not important to me.

      “But lets stop.
      People who paid more will be salty.
      People who could upgrade now, will be happy.
      New people wont understand the problem.
      And someone who does the math, kind of argues "why care?".”

      Agreed 100%, except for the why care. There are a 100 reasons to care 😉
