    • RE: Will zergs rule the open world?

      @Tuoni

      I actually kind of disagree. If you’re engaging a Zerg with a Zerg, you’ll be in the same area as them. If you use one of those traps, you’re going to damage yourselves as well.

      Now, can one Zerg lay a trap for the other? Of course, but so can the other Zerg. I think it can be balanced well. Would be hard to implement overall though.

      Unfortunately zergs are an unfortunate reality in games like fractured. Even if anti-Zerg mechanics are implemented, they will find a way to thrive. There just has to be enough countermeasures to make it possible to be outside of a Zerg

      True, but the same idea can be used for non siege weaponry. We have received hints that there will be traps we can deploy, what with shadow demons having an affinity for traps. There could be traps that are well-tuned for clearing out hordes of players, but be near worthless against a single player. I'm not exactly sure what that would look like... but it's an idea to keep bouncing around in the devs minds during future balancing.

      Agreed. Portals should require extreme preparation and rituals to use imho. It shouldn’t be a simple, oh I’m at the portal so I can get to point B.

    • RE: Skeletons

      @Tuoni

      I have a few suggestions that may touch on those issues.

      Perhaps being a skeleton isn’t a permanent race that you play. In fact, maybe you can be a skeletal beast man, human, or demon. Perhaps becoming a skeleton is a direct relation to the game world.

      For example, there could be a really tough boss on each of the worlds such that when you are killed by this boss you become a skeleton for a certain duration. Skeletons would be by and large detrimental, lower intelligence, easier to cripple, but perhaps they could have a few buffs. Less impact from the environment, no need to eat, etc

      I’d really love to see the old school mechanic of certain impacts that occur if you are defeated by certain bosses.

      Edit:
      Heck, it could even be tied to an asteroid. If you die on this asteroid, you become a skeleton for a duration. That would be pretty cool too 🙂

      @Tuoni

      Yep, agreed whole heartedly. Guilds should not get in game advantages just for hitting metrics. However, cosmetics signifying those metrics is a good way to show off for a guild 🙂

      Gotcha, that makes sense and could fit well.

      At some point, a zerg will hopefully do more damage to their comrades than the opponent 😜

      For as long as the packs are available, you can upgrade. Hard to say how much longer that will be, probably a good deal longer. I imagine they'll be phased out during the Alpha.

      I’d be totally down for furniture/house cosmetics 😜

      Just sayin’

      But there has to be a fair amount of in game cosmetics as well, so there’s a fine line on that front.

      I disagree. Rewards should be strictly control, influence, and development/settlements. Just because your guild has certain arbitrary characteristics, does not mean you should get a free pass.

      Not sure how this one has passed my radar... I loved the torchlight games. Anyone else super hyped ;P?

      Currently looking more into it of course, doesn’t look like the same devs though unfortunately.

      What direct benefits can a player get by buying gold that a player in the game can not achieve? Just curious.

      Is that how you define P2W? Just curious. 😉 P2W as a concept is not a black and white matter. People have own opinnions and how they feel what is p2w and what is not. Its more about how people experiences it. P2W does not need to be advantage what you can buy only with real money. It can also be something which progress you faster than others and that way you take the advantage. It is true that those who progress normal pace without help of real money are eventually getting there where this spender was, but when they get to that point, that spender is already way more further. That is why its easy to argue, that paying for faster progression is also P2W. At least we are that point in somewhere grey area depending of the degree of benefits ofc.

      By that definition premium is pay to win. How do you eliminate that p2w? Implementing a method for players to purchase premium by in game means. How do you do that? Implement tokens that a player can buy for $$ that represent premium time. Then allow players to trade these items. It’s a classic case of eliminating p2w, if we go by your definition. I know I’ve said that before, but this all seems to be going in a circle 😉

      Fishy business models, as you state, are implementing loot boxes, enchantment stones, RNG and so forth. People rarely kick and scream when you can purchase premium time via in game currency.

      At the end of the day, I want people to get the same advantage as me if they put time and effort into the game. I paid for a lifetime subscription, but others should reap the same benefits without spending $$ if they put in the effort.

      A lot of OPs other concerns don’t really seem to have relevance here. Dull combat... I don’t think fractured will be dull by any means. Heck, we have abilities that impact the environment around us. The reputation system for Fractured has a lot of documentation, and it’s one thing that has drawn a lot of people.

    • RE: Craft-able Raid Item Request

      There are no traditional raids in this game. Everything is open world AFAIK. Need another player for your raid? Tell them to haul their butt to your location 😉

    • RE: Guild Attire Rewards

      Eh, I don’t think this is a very good idea. Guilds having more complicated structures/buildings and territory control should be the extent of what sets guilds apart. By nature, you’re more likely to progress on knowledge based fields for crafting and so forth while in a guild.

      Why should there be a magical cart that can only be learned while in a guild (of a certain size no less)? It just doesn’t make sense.

    • RE: Will there be fast traveling?

      @Jetah

      I think it's a good compromise. People don't like walking simulators, and there have been memes made about them 😜

      The faster you can group up with friends, the better. It means people are more likely to log on even if they just have a few minutes to spare. More people logged on, a more lively universe, a better experience.

      Trade, resource gathering, and so forth all require walking still. You can't mine, and then teleport to a trade location. I'm sure it will be balanced well.

      Same concept as pirate captains I suppose. There's no law and order... but there's an order to things.

      My thoughts exactly. Since Fractured has done away with the "strength" progression mechanics it is important to retain all aspects of horizontal progression. (imho of course)
