    • RE: Freedom of movement/flying or diving

      Adding flying itself would implement a number of new requirements for things like combat. Right now all damage states (I’d imagine) would be in a 2d state. Adding flying would require a lot more work to get combat done correctly. Especially when you consider abilities will impact the environment.

      I personally think flying would over complicate things for very little reward. However, I do think special biomes “in the sky” would be pretty cool. Could be players trying to get a connection with their deities. Sky cities and all that 😜

      To be a demon that the humans trust?
      It's all about the endgame, my friend.

      I think you pretty much answered the question with the isometric view 😉

      They could still implement more diverse biomes that include underwater/sky though

      @Dragomok

      Oooph. I hope there is some pretty crazy bosses on tartaros. PvPvE consists of some of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I have ever had.

      Limiting high end PvE to the beastmen would be a bit of a bummer

      @Crowdac
      You don't even have to be a masochist to be a casual demon.

      The whole point of the gearing system (from what I can gather) is that it is relatively easy to craft gear and there isn't really a "tiered" system. They've gone for a system for easy replaceability for weaponry. So if you're a casual PvPer, I think fractured is perfect for you. There will most likely not be god-tiered weaponry that takes ages to acquire, and if you don't have it... you're SOL.

      The real "hardcare" nature of tartaros is land control (imho of course). My assumption is that there are obviously protections in place for the beastmen on their land ownership, and I believe there has been talk of single land ownership being protected for humans. Even so, I imagine towns will have some form of game mechanic that will control the stages of a siege/takeover/etc. Demons on the other hand... I imagine there will be very few mechanics that protect your settlements.

      It's hard to say at this time of course, but considering how replaceable equipment is supposed to be, I don't think the PvP in Fractured is inherently hardcore. It's what you want to accomplish with that PvP that truly matters.

      I also personally hope the cosmetics won’t be too outlandish, but you never know. I have faith that they won’t be, just considering how the normal armor and artifacts are looking.

      As for mage armor and the like, I don’t think there are any limits. It’s all about synergy though. So you can use tank armor with a mage, but there’s certain qualities that enters into the equation

    • RE: Creative Biome Discussion

      The thing I’m MOST excited for with biomes I’m fractured is their impact on spells/environmental abilities.

      However, on the topic of unique resources... I’m pretty sure that’s already planned. Especially considering demons will have different/varied resources than humans or beastmen and vice versa. Just seems like they’re already going down that path 🙂

      Unfortunately, Fractured isn't 3d enough 😜
      You could always play it on the in VR screens of course lol

    • RE: Will this support ultrawide?

      It always depends on how sought after the tech is.

      RTX is a great example of tech that has been around for a long time, but hasn't been adopted due to the relatively small number who can utilize it.

      Fractured will hopefully be around for a long time, so I imagine some day there will be ultrawide support... but launch probably not 😜

      Unless everyone starts getting ultrawide monitors haha

      I know you're joking, but you can be a casual player as a demon as well.

      Casual != PvE/friendly imho.

      I agree that the game can be the most casual game around, depending on what you're going for.

      However, if you plan to take part in running a city, conquering, and so forth... I imagine the game will be quite intense and time consuming. I have nothing really to base that off of at the moment, except for the fact that if everyone can run a city as a casual player... you can see where that's going 😉

    • RE: Game release date?

      @Kralith

      /shrug

      We will see. It really all depends on how fleshed out the game is by the end of 2020.

      Extremely long testing phases with wipes tends to cause people to lose interest. 3 years of wipes will do that to many 😉

      I doubt the devs WANT to wipe the game unnecessarily. It really depends on progress

      Edit:
      On the flip side, it could go on for 4/5 years. There’s really no way to tell. Thus the hope ;). 3 years is a crazy long time.

      I also suppose it depends on how interesting the mechanics are for the horizontal progression and whether people are willing to go through the hoops over and over for their favorite setups

      Any guesses now would be pretty inaccurate but you can check this out:

      https://fracturedmmo.com/development-roadmap-from-alpha-to-release/

      My personal guess is this will remain relatively achievable. But you never know.

      I really hope wipes stop when beta 2 begins. But I suppose it depends on what is all in it

    • RE: Will Fractured upgrade on what Albion Online did

      @Gothix

      What direct benefits can a player get by buying gold that a player in the game can not achieve? Just curious.

      If you look at any game with subscription tokens that are trade-able, you will notice that the more aged players will often purchase premium time with in game means. This is because gold is far easier to obtain than the monetary equivalent. Purchasing gold is inherently inefficient late game, in every single game I’ve played. UNLESS you have gold farmers and buy it from them.

      This includes EVE, Wildstar, and Runescape. All of these implemented such a system without being pay to win. In fact, it gave a method for players to obtain premium by in game means, completely eliminating pay to win.

      Having such a system actually attracts players as well. Some people won’t play a game where you can’t get the advantages of a paying player through in game means (this includes premium).

      Although we might lose you, we will also gain other players as well as increased revenue from those players. Even if they aren’t directly purchasing premium. Neither of us knows which is greater, but I honestly don’t think people worry too much about in game subscription tokens for the most part. I’d assume you’re in the minority, but I could be wrong. I also always think the “I won’t play if X” is a pretty weak argument.

      Anywho, I don’t really have a stake in the fight. Thankfully there’s an unlimited premium option at the moment. I probably wouldn’t play Fractured if I couldn’t buy premium through in game means to be honest. “Won’t play with x” argument, I know 😉

      Edit:
      Also, you may not have started it. But you definitely poked it with a big ol’ stick haha 😛

      Is EVE pay to win?

      The thing about paying for gold in games like these is the endgame isn't really "purchase-able". Some guy isn't going to drop $100,000 to "maybe" retain ownership of a town for a month.

      Most of the purchasing is done by the little guys who don't have strong backing by some mega corporation and don't have time to farm in game.

      “Paying for gold” is rarely benificial to those that actually have the power to “win”

      Just my 2c from an old player of EVE. That’s also assuming we adhere to the fact that paying for gold is even considered paying to win, which I do not. I consider pay to win to be where people buy things not obtainable in game.

      In fact, allowing players to purchase premium game time from other players for gold gets RID of pay to win ;). And that’s assuming we are considering the premium to be pay to win... which I don’t. Bunch of assumptions eh? Gotta love pay2win arguments
