    • RE: To hype or not to hype?

@darian said in To hype or not to hype?:

I think the hype is damaging the gaming community. It generates expectations far beyond reality, leaving the gamer disappointed when he lays hands on the final product. Honest representation on the other hand, will most likely draw in those genuinely interested in what the game actually offers, crating a strong community to build upon. Just my two cents.

We're definitely going for the "honest representation" indeed - both on what the game will feature, and what's been developed so far

@LonelyCookie said in Spring Alpha Major Release #1:

Basically nerfing the good side, while giving many benefits/lowering downsides to the criminal side

We really don't think this patch has "nerfed" the good side in any significant way. Almost all existing bounty hunters had 10,000 Karma already* and getting there doesn't take that long. The requirement is there to prevent players from switching from PK to BH easily. The criminal side hasn't been really given much either, since most of the dedicated PKs sit at -10,000 Karma or close and it's much faster to get there now.

That being said, notwithstanding how much the criminals cried like the jail and BH systems were the end of the world, they have done little to keep criminal activity under control, so further measures will be required.

*there was a bug with Karma not growing when killing mobs with 100% knowledge. It's been fixed and the Karma of all players with positive Karma has been tripled to account for the losses. This wasn't mentioned in the patch log.

They are two different systems. Through Kickstarter you'll get Foundation Points too tough, among other rewards

    • RE: Mortal Like or not ?

Hi @Xesh - I've played Mortal Online, and I can't find many similarities with Fractured. Perhaps the most striking differences are:

      • MO is skill-based, Fractured has an horizontal progression system known as Knowledge System which is different from both level-based and skill-based systems.
      • MO is first-person with FPS-like controls, while Fractured is isometric with ARPG controls.
      • MO has a strictly hardcore target, while Fractured tries to cater to friendly/cooperative players too thanks to its unique race and universe design.

Then there are plenty of other differences on topics like crafting, character creation, interactions with the environment... No, I wouldn't say Fractured is close to MO - they're both sandbox MMOs, and that's pretty much about it

    • RE: City Sieges Live & All-Backers Event

@Tajger said in City Sieges Live & All-Backers Event:

So it looks like people from out of town won't care much about the siege. The citizens will be the most involved. And it will be possible to launch city conquest attacks every 4 days in that case?

Indeed, citizens are the ones truly involved in city warfare. City conquests can be launched at any time provided the conditions listed in the blog post hold true... unless you meant attacking the same city - in that case yes, once every 4 days for conquests.

@Logain said in City Sieges Live & All-Backers Event:

Can everybody sign up as defender/attacker or are there restrictions?
Can leaders on either side remove people from the list?
How long is the 'prime time' window and can it be edited?

Everyone can apply (unless already listed as combatant in the same siege or a different one), but they have to be accepted by the leader of the attack / the govs of the defending city... and they can be removed, yes πŸ™‚

The prime time is either US or EU and is fixed. Govs can change it from the Town Hall menu - the option has been there since the start of the test πŸ™‚

@teeboned said in Did I miss something? No levels !?:

Monster Hunter is a game that also isn't lvl dependent. All your character progression comes from learning your characters moveset and acquiring better gear through the process of crafting. So some of that could be incorporated?

In a way, it is already!

@finland said in The problem that i see in many sandbox games:

@Specter so the other guy is right, there's no point in discovering all spells especially those who requires your low attributes.

Spells don't require attributes to be used - their effectiveness is influenced by them! So, for instance, your heavy STR / CON based character can use all the INT-influenced spells in the game he has learnt - they're just going to be less effective.

    • RE: Roadmap To Fall Alpha 2021

@Vialli said in Roadmap To Fall Alpha 2021:

I don’t think this will stop the big issues with PVP. In the Spring Alpha all the Points of Interest were β€œcamped” by large groups of evil players killing everyone.

Hi Vialli, perhaps you've missed the second half of the post where we're describing world events πŸ™‚ Not only there are going to be way more POI, but you're going to find the same monsters in the whole region around each POI thanks to world events. It's harder since you have to move around more (less risk, less reward), but you can stay away from PK campers now πŸ™‚

Also, with killing Good players being less rewarding and big incentives to PvP as Neutrals instead, we hope the number of Evil players is going to be substantially lower... But clearly we have to see what happens in practice.

    • RE: A Delicate Question: Slavery

@fyrsey said in A Delicate Question: Slavery:

I see your point, but it's not really a reduction, slaves are still individuals, always have been.

That's for sure! What I meant by "downplaying" is that a slave NPC would be just a character who works for you - at most you would have to keep it alive. Other MMOs (such as BDO) have hired workers, but the concept is similar.

NPCs in Fractured instead have their own lives and businesses. You can't order them to do this and that. You can buy from their shops if they've setup one and it's open. If you're a regular customer and/or have a high reputation in the city they might offer you discounts at most. Just a couple examples, but you get the idea. Slaves wouldn't work in this picture.

@Logain sorry but that's not planned as of today!

    • RE: Banks and auctions.

@33hp said in Banks and auctions.:

I suggest transferring banks and auctions to the management of players.
For example, a guild builds a certain building (storehouse) and allows players who are not members of the guild to store their belongings for a certain amount, if they do not pay for storage, the person responsible for the storehouse has the right to withdraw items for the amount that the player must pay if things are more expensive than a service, it is considered that they paid for the front,

Transferring storage entirely in the hands of players is quite extreme - but a mechanic similar to the guild-run "storehouse" you suggested is actually planned! More on the topic in the upcoming spotlights!

    • RE: Fall Alpha Spotlight – Equipment Progression

@margenov @Logain sadly we can't delay the launch of the test further, since we want to have another one by the end of the year. What we hope to do is launch it a bit earlier than NW - say, Sep 21. That would be 1 whole week before NW at least...

@GamerSeuss said in Fall Alpha Spotlight – Equipment Progression:

Would love to know if you've also decided to keep with the plan to introduce Beastmen or if that has been solidly pushed off to a later Alpha.

Beastmen are definitely not coming this year, hopefully in the first half on 2022!

@axan22 said in Fall Alpha Spotlight – Equipment Progression:

Great info but please be mindful of your face blocking info you are talking about in the video, couldn't really see the some of the info as blocked by your face.

Ahah yes, sorry, I'll mind that next time πŸ˜„

@spoletta said in Fall Alpha Spotlight – Equipment Progression:

Will there be a different cost to enchant weapons compared to the cost of enchanting armor pieces?

Yes, enchanting weapons is more expensive. Data will be on the wiki soon πŸ™‚

@spoletta said in Fall Alpha Spotlight – Equipment Progression:

Also, resistances to elementals are not changed, except for the ones already on the equipment (material). Wouldn't all this make mages almost enchant agnostic?

@OlivePit said in Fall Alpha Spotlight – Equipment Progression:

I am concerned about enchanting being only coin based and not including other material costs.

We are considering adding materials as well later on πŸ˜‰

@OlivePit said in Fall Alpha Spotlight – Equipment Progression:

I noticed that the rapier gives armor penetration as well as spell channeling while the staves just give spell channeling... As such why would anyone use a stave instead of a rapier?

Because the staff is a ranged weapon and its base damage stacks with INT πŸ™‚

      @jetah said in Upgradable Pets:

@prometheus I'd suggest adding some as rewards from bosses. Destiny 2 had issues with all cosmetic rewards being obtainable from loot boxes. There was no reason to kill raid bosses each week after your gear was capped because there was nothing there.

Some premium items will come from in-game activities too, sure.

    • RE: Fall Alpha Spotlight – Market & Mailbox

@OlivePit @Alexian the purpose of the global wallet being available in all cities is indeed to reduce the inherent risk of being a merchant, which is still high since you can be killed when moving items instead of gold. We want to see a lot of players, including solos, travelling around trading goods. That's never going to happen as long as being a "merchant slayer" is a very profitable option for PKs because if you score a kill on a merchant you come back with guaranteed gold or items πŸ™‚

@gothix said in Summary of the first Q&A.:

I really don't like how guild locking system works, heavily restricting who can join your guild. Demons seem specially disadvantaged in this aspect.
"Demons cannot conquer and/or control cities on Syndesia." -- Also demons seem disadvantaged here.
From what I see so far, if one wants to play evil, it's a lot better got go human, drop your karma and be evil, then play as demon. You get a lot more freedom like that.

Yes, you do have more freedom playing as an Evil Human since you can settle both on Syndesia and Tartaros, but you're missing out on a lot of stuff, namely:

      1. The unique traits of the three Demon families, explained here and here. For instance, if you're playing a Shadow Demon, you enjoy unique bonuses at nighttime, cap increases on Strength, Dexterity and Perception, and Affinity to Perception. That's a lot of useful stuff for Thief/Assassin/Scout builds which an Evil Human doesn't get, although it might use tech to make up for it in a way.
      2. The racial bonuses Demons enjoy while on Tartaros.
      3. The racial bonuses Demons enjoy while on Syndesia during an Eclipse.

@vengu said in Summary of the first Q&A.:

Arboreus and Tartaros are very specific outliers for players who really don't like PvP and for players who want a really unforgiving PvP environment. Syndesia appears to be the broadest and most fleshed out planet, with intricate guild politics, the full spectrum of alignments, etc.

Who said Tartaros doesn't have city building & conquest & the "intricate guild politics"? It does! πŸ™‚

@Jetah @Benseine Fractured is a sandbox but one with a strong lore and racial characterization, which comes with several unique design choices. That being said, as I've also mentioned in the streaming, perhaps these restrictions will change or will go away as a whole. Alpha will tell!
