    • Patch Log - v.a.2.4.1c

      Changes

      • The power level of legends has been increased considerably. More changes (including AI behaviors) will be coming in the next days!
      • The Health of monsters now resets when they start leashing. Strong creatures may not regenerate their health in full, but they still regain a substantial portion.
      • The Wisp champion is now classified as Medium instead of Hard.
      • The Earth Elemental champion is now classified as Hard instead of Medium.
      • The Bear champion is now classified as Easy instead of Medium.
      • The Giant Spider champion is now classified as Medium instead of Easy.

      Bug Fixes

      • Harvesting clovers now correctly changes the nutrition levels of farming plots.
      • Being overweight no longer prevents interactions with items.
      • It's no longer possible to add more materials to Smelteries than it fits the UI.
      • Bronze can be smelted again.
      • Fixed a bug that caused weird move speed changes when players entered and exited paved roads when encumbered.

    • Patch Log - v.a.2.4.1

      --->PLEASE NOTE<---

The spawn of legends is temporarily suspended due to an issue that caused excessive loot drops.

There is also an error with the new city maintenance table. Values for Cereals and Proteins are too high (the values at rank 24 should be 40 and 80 respectively, not 70 and 140).

Both issues are going to be hotfixed tomorrow morning. Apologies for the inconvenience!

      --->PLEASE NOTE<---

      Changes

      • The Legends have arrived! More info in an upcoming blog post.
      • City Decay is live! More info in an upcoming blog post.
      • The visualization of modifiers on equipment has been improved, splitting them between native properties (static on the item type), material properties and enchantments.

      Bug Fixes

      • Smelting all alloys is now possible again. The heat power of coal has been temporarily increased to 600C as well.
      • The Spell Damage Increase property now increases the damage of all spells.
      • Fixed a bug that allowed players to stack some weapons and thus duplicate their properties.
      • Fixed a bug that made some objects built in player houses not correctly register with the land claim (making them usable only by the person who build them).
      • Picking up resources, crafting, etc. now cancel the "mounting" action if in progress.
      • It's no longer possible to add materials to shop storages (e.g. ingot storage) beyond the limit of the storage.
      • Poison charges on weapons now correctly decrease when Poisoning Strike is used.
      • Memory is now correctly calculated with Base Intelligence only (i.e. the INT set on character creation). Talents no longer increase that.
      • Double-tapping A no longer allows players to mount when running.
      • Fixed a bug that would show the property of a piece of equipment having value 0% if the combined tier of the property was higher than 3.
      • Players getting dismounted when pulling a wagon no longer keep pulling it.
      • The Ricochet talent is functional again.
      • Abilities are no longer draggable to the mount button (graphical glitch).
      • Fixed a bug with stone blocks that sometimes could not be added to the Trading Post. Please note that bugged stone may still exist in the game - we could not fix that retroactively.
      • Soil Irrigation now goes up to 100% when finishing the watering procedure instead of when starting it.

    • Winter Alpha Spotlight - Criminal System

      Hi all!

The Fall Alpha has ended a couple days ago, and we’ve had a blast looking at your cities grow and city-to-city commerce flourish!

This time, we’ve decided not to publish a single roadmap to the next test, the Winter Alpha, which is planned to start in February. Instead, we’ll be splitting that into a series of spotlights covering all upcoming features in detail.

While a lot of city content is coming to the Winter Alpha, PvP is undoubtedly its main focus. Let’s start with it then, and see how Syndesia is finally getting its proper ruleset!

    • Patch Log - v.a.2.4.1d

      Changes

      • The base cost of travelling from harbor to harbor has been decreased by 40%.
      • It's now possible to use harbors carrying a cart. Each item inside the cart increases the cost of travel by 3% (so that's a +90% cost with a full wagon).

      Bug Fixes

      • All harbors are now functional again.
      • Wisps in the temple of Heartwood spawn correctly again.
      • Moving the currently equipped weapon into a chest no longer leaves a "ghost weapon" attached to the character.
      • World map pin tooltips no longer change size when zooming or get crazy large.
      • It's no longer possible to start crafting when mounted.
      • Equipped but unused shields no longer lose durability in combat.
      • Fixed a bug that in rare situations teleported a player back to the last harbor they travelled to.
      • Vice-governors are able to add/take gold at the Trading Post again.

      Hi all!

In the last blog update, we sadly had to announce that the start of the Winter Alpha was postponed from February to March. Given that Winter will soon be over, the test has been renamed Spring Alpha, and its launch date is now official:

      It’s Wednesday, March 31, at 4pm CET (10am EST)!

    • Patch Log - v.a.2.5.1b + Moderation News

      Hi all,

this time I'd like to give you a big announcement before we get to the patch log.

As you likely know already, the advent of the proper ruleset of Syndesia and PvP has brought a level of toxicity in our communication channels (global chat, Discord, forums) that's completely unprecedented in the history of the game.

Banter between PvP guilds that gets completely out of line, discussions between points of view (usually on PvP) that degenerates in name-calling and vulgar language, and even violations of point 5 of our TOS.

To put an end to this, Fractured now has its first two moderators: @Rife and @spoletta! Give them a warm or a scared welcome, according to your role in the situation explained above! 😉

Moderators are regular community members with the following powers:

      • Muting players in the game;
      • Kicking / banning players on Discord;
      • Editing posts / removing posts, and banning users on the forums.

I know what you're thinking - what about @Specter? Even though he's had the title of moderator, he's always been way more - a proper game admin, with full admin powers... and that is now his title 🙂

And now, to the patch log!

      Changes

      • The overall strength of Goblins has been reduced - most notably their magical resistances, damage, spell casting chance and run speed. This should make it much easier for new players to fight them, and particularly for mages.
      • Some monsters (such as all the canids) are also slower now.
      • The attack speed of the mage staff has been increased from slow to medium (and the damage reduced accordingly). It's now a much more pleasant weapon to use for kiting.
      • The owner of a land parcel can now pull any cart inside of its land claim to get it out (pull, not open).
      • Carts can no longer be stolen inside of cities and land parcels.

      Bug Fixes

      • Stolen carts can now be opened correctly.
      • Items with variable properties (e.g. armor, weapons, lore tablets) can now be put on sale correctly on the marketplace.
      • Fixed a bug that would make projectiles disappear in the client when hitting a player that was not a target of PvP (e.g. a good player hitting another good player). Please note that this was just a client error, as the projectiles were correctly going through in the server.

    • Roadmap To Fall Alpha 2021

      Hello everyone!

We know you've been waiting for this post for a while, and we're happy we've finally found the time to deliver it to you.

Dynamight Studios has grown considerably in the last couple months, and a good chunk of the work for the next test has been completed already. As it is likely to start in the second half of September, we've decided to officially name the next test Fall Alpha 2021, lest we end up in the same situation of the Winter/Spring Alpha 2021 😉

We'll soon be able to open up on the business news we've been hinting to for a while. For now, however, let's stick to the roadmap!

    • Patch Log - b.1.0f - Bug Fixes

      Hi all,

here comes a patch with multiple bug fixes for sieges. There are still some we are investigating, but several issues were likely caused by the same bug (the first one below).

      • It's no longer possible to declare a new siege against a city that is in the 24-hours grace period after another siege has ended.
      • Winning a conquest attempt now reduces 50% of the city's loyalty instead of 60% and cities recover 6 loyalty per day instead of 4. This means it now takes 3 successful sieges in a row to conquer a city, as it should be.
      • Guilds can now declare a conquest siege from the politics window built in the guild menu instead of having to go through a Town Hall menu. Please note that, for now, the rule that guilds can only siege hamlets still holds.
      • No more ghost weapons equipped until relog when an equipped weapon breaks.
      • Ice Spikes can no longer be Critical.
      • Charcoal Piles are now smaller and fit in a standard land parcel tile.

We know we have plenty of other issues to fix. We're on it, multiple bugfix patches will come from here till the release of the Endgame Changer update.

      Hi everyone,

we're glad to announce you that we're going to release our first Feature Spotlight this month! It will be focused on the following game features:

      • The solar system and its three planets (Syndesia, Arboreus, Tartaros) - including some notes about the lore;
      • The three races inhabiting the system (Humans, Beastmen, Demons) and their societies;
      • Travels between planets, orbits, and much more related to the cosmology of Fractured!

Obviously, we can't really add all the information to the spotlight, lest we create a thousand-lines wall of text. Therefore, we're going to release a video Q&A as well, in which I will reply in person to all your questions on the topics above.

Well then... Any doubt or curiosity? If so, wait no more: start posting all your questions here! Don't feel limited, ask us whatever comes to your mind - unless it's off-topic, that is - and enjoy it being replied to on video!

      Thank you all!

    • RE: Female armour

      @logain said in Female armour:

Any chance that you'd include the idea of 'female armor' in one of your design write-ups?
I tried to advertise the game to somebody who shrugged, replied it's 'bikini babes' and never came back. I kind of hope that the 'very open' female 'armor' we saw in the concept art so far isn't meant to be armor and that women wear real armor in the game, but it is tricky to advertise that.

We'll cover that in the future for sure - actually, we're going to show it, and it will be actual armor, no "Asian MMO" stuff.

That being said, where's the "bikini babe" exactly? If you're referring to this, well, that's an illustration of an allegoric character, not a game character, and I'd hardly call that "bikini babe" anyway

    • Major Milestones Approaching! (Or: Why We've Been So Silent)

      Hi everyone!

I know, it's been a couple weeks since our last post. While @Specter and I have always kept an eye on the forums, I guess you've been rightfully longing for some development updates.

As you know, I personally take care to reply to questions on the forums and to write feature spotlights, sprint recaps, and all the other types of news posts published here and on the fractured website. I love to be so close to you, but such an involvement has a serious drawback - if I'm really busy, updates go missing. And that's what just happened 😞

Before revealing the big news scheduled for the weeks to come, we've decided to open this post to apologize for our silence and to drop some hints. Hope you'll excuse us, and enjoy what's below!

First of all, I'm incredibly happy to announce that, after long negotiations, we're about to hit a major milestone in securing funding for Fractured. By "about to", I mean we're actually only a few days away!

While I can't say more on this at the moment, we'll officially disclose everything to you and to the press really soon - on the 13th of March, if all goes as planned.

As CEO of Dynamight Studios, this whole deal has obviously eaten most of my time these last couple weeks. So there we go - that's the main reason for my absence!

While I was busy with the above, I've still managed to get a little progress done on writing the next feature spotlight, dedicated to what is likely to be the most debated topic in the history of the Fractured community - and that of the MMO genre in general.

The topic, of course, is Player Versus Player.

Since the very first post on this blog, we’ve stated how Fractured wants to cater to the needs of peaceful/cooperative and aggressive/competitive players alike, allowing them to coexist in a single, massive game server. We’ve seen you defining Arboreus as a “PvE planet”, Syndesia as a world with “Lawful PvP”, while Tartaros features “Lawless PvP”. This definition, although correct at large, is far from complete, and let to a plethora of questions such as:

      • Can I be “ganked” while playing as a Beastman on Arboreus?
      • If I’m a Demon, how easily can I go for a killing spree on other planets?
      • What constitutes a crime on Syndesia, and how is that punished?

Well, the next update, scheduled for next week, will finally give you all the answers!

Last but not least, out team has been working hard to complete the promised first real video of Fractured - which is sadly a couple weeks behind schedule. Lots of work on the environment and NPC AIs is going on right now, and that's taking a while more than expected!

We're going to show plenty of exploration and exciting group PvE action in the footage to come. Moreover, you'll have a chance to look at the functioning of SpatialOS, the engine powering Fractured, and the office of Dynamight Studios 😉

      Enjoy Fractured!

      Best,
      Jacopo

    • Forum Notifications Settings Tips

      Hi everyone,

the Fractured forums have gotten quite busy, and I guess some of you might be annoyed by the excessive amount of notifications, or perhaps are unable to tell apart interesting discussions from "welcome" threads and the like. Here's a couple tips for you!

      Ignoring Threads By Category

This one is useful if you want active threads from specific categories not to show up in your Unread page. Just open any category, and change it from Watching to Ignoring - the button is at the top right corner of the category page!

      0_1516664624598_forum_ignore.jpg

      Changing Notification Settings

The platform these forums are built on has a wide array of notifications settings to keep track of different events. Notifications for each type of event can be muted, received on the forums only, or via email (too). To fiddle with settings, press the account button at the top right corner of the screen, then press Settings.

      0_1516664910817_forum_settings.jpg

In your Settings page you'll find a whole section dedicated to Notifications:

      0_1516665000691_forum_notifications.jpg

There are other interesting options as well in the Settings page

We're going to add other tips to this thread in the future if you let us know of any! 😉

    • RE: Bit worried where the Kickstarter is

@kairosval said in Bit worried where the Kickstarter is:

From what I understand, Dynamite doesn't actually need the money to succeed or deliver right now. So if the campaign fails now, they can put together a do-over later. And the do-over could be amazing.
At this point I'd prefer taking the option for a do-over later over barely limping past the finish line.

We don't need the money to move with development - but our deadlines are based on a successful Kickstarter campaign.

If the campaign failed and we started selling on our store immediately, we'd lose part of the pledges for sure, as they come from people related to the "Kickstarter ecosystem". If we waited to make another KS campaign, we'd be for months without revenues, and we'd have to put a lot of effort and time on the new campaign which could be spent on development.

In both cases, and that's the critical point, we wouldn't be able to expand the team right away. In particular, we would miss a senior developer who's ready to join the team. That would cause delays to our schedule. Don't forget that although financially stable, we're still a small studio, and 100k do make a difference.

So, yeah... For us, way better to hit the goal now and keep gathering new followers in the coming months rather than having to start over! 🙂 We're at 3/4, lots of updates to come, let's make it happen! 😄
