      I see a heated debated here! Let me give you some clarifications πŸ™‚

      First of all, you already know players can create multiple characters per account, and we fully expect most will do that. This shouldn't be a surprise for anyone - Fractured features 3 races enjoying different planets and gameplay and sub-races with unique abilities. Moreover, you sort of "create your own class" by setting attributes during character creation, while attributes respecs will be very limited. You have to create alts if you want to have a "mage" character, a "warrior" character, a "rogue" character, etc - just like you would do in almost all existing MMOs.

      We don't see having multiple characters in the same account as an issue really. You can only become the citizen of one city per planet account-wide. Even if you created multiple accounts and bought access for all of them, why bothering? Resource extraction and processing for advanced crafting is a group effort and requires permissions, as @Specter mentioned. Now let's assume you played 12 hours per day with 4 accounts, citizens of 4 different cities and part of the crafters group of each city... Well, it's legitimate, but if you wanted to "get rich" I can assure you there are plenty of faster ways to achieve that than being a crafter in 4 different cities πŸ˜‚

      On a guild level, the situation is different. The risk of a guild claiming a small city with a handful of secondary accounts just to gather resources so they don't have to trade with anyone is real. Again, it's not clever, but I can see why a guild might want to do that to be entirely self-sufficient. We must make it a very unprofitable choice through maintenance costs, time required to move resources and other tech tree shenanigans πŸ™‚

      Also, once multiple resource nodes per city are implemented, all cities in proximity of a node will be able to vie for the control of that node.

      There are a lot of opportunities for PvP. Allowing players to freely use the nodes that belong to other cities would make the whole resource nodes system pointless though.

      Hi @Robinhoodrs! We're soon going to launch an influencer program and send keys to content creators with a good following and appropriate content (like yours). This new initiative is mostly targeted towards "regular" community members who might talk about Fractured in the Discord channels / reddit channels / forums of the communities they follow, content creators with a very small following, and so on πŸ™‚

    • RE: Whats in the future graphically.

      Hi @Stacy555, we believe the most problematic point with Fractured's graphics as of today are the biomes, which, as many players like @d3Sync pointed out, all look pretty similar.

      This is due to an overall lack of unique "decorative" art assets for each biome (and the average quality of the existing ones), but also to the lack of unique lighting and post-processing. The latter is going to be improved before the next test, but the former will have to wait until we hire a dedicated environment artist.

      Adding to the above, animations are also very poor, and we know that. We don't have a dedicated animator in the team - our art director has been taking care of that so far. You can consider all the current player character animations as placeholders - even the walking animations eheh.

      All the above being said, you can't really compare Fractured graphics-wise to AA/AAA games like Ashes of Creation or New World from Amazon, whose owner earns in 3 minutes (literally) the total cost of the development of Fractured so far πŸ˜„ We are an 8-people indie studio, and while the team's hopefully going to grow and graphics are surely going to improve before full release, they will never compete with AAA titles - nor it's our interest for them to πŸ™‚

      The reason you can't get a Wisp at all as a warrior for now is because of missing options. For instance, you still can't enchant your weapon to make it deal non-physical damage, and shared party knowledge gains are not a thing yet.

    • Patch Log - v.a.2.4.0h

      Changes

      • Added particles to smelteries, forges and charcoal piles and other world objects.

      Bug Fixes

      • Fixed a bug that caused heavy materials to disappear or change into different ones when put into / taken out of shop storages (e.g. Coal in the Blacksmith shop).
      • Fixed a bug that made it so that players buying heavy materials from a Trading Post would only receive 1 unit instead of the whole quantity.
      • The woodworking table now spawns correctly after completing its blueprint.
      • Trolls now spawn in the world and properly assign knowledge.
      • Fixed a bug that made Carpenter shops built in some locations not accessible (players couldn't pass the door frame).
      • Toggle / ready abilities that require a specific weapon now correctly deactivate when switching to an invalid weapon instead of remaining permanently active and proccing with each attack.
      • The crafting tab in the Inventory Crafting menu no longer disappears when opening the campfire.
      • City markers on the map no longer change
      • It's no longer possible to place forges in the walls of the Blacksmith shop.
      • Vice-Governors are again able to accept citizenship requests.
      • Ignore Armor can now be activated correctly.
      • Poison can again be applied to poisonable weapons (dagger, short sword, long sword, spear, bows).
      • Clicking on a requirement inside of a recipe now correctly opens the recipe for that requirement if it's a craftable item and it's crafted within the same station.
      • Bash and Heavy Blow now correctly increase attack damage.
      • Static Discharge now deals damage if interrupted because the caster runs out of mana.
      • Fixed a bug that would make the automatic Combat Mode become permanent when travelling the world after being attacked by a creature, which prevented all interactions and forced the player affected to relog.

      All claimed towns are safe zones, including the 2 starter towns! Personal land parcels are safe as well for the owner, co-owner and friends. That's not only for this test, it's how things are meant to work.

    • April 1st Server Crash - What Happens Now

      Hi all,

      it's no joke, we had a "server crash" (to put it in simple terms).

      As mentioned on Discord, we're keeping in touch with SpatialOS engineers to figure out what happened. It's possible it was a hosting issue (stemming from the cloud that hosts game servers). World and player data are safe - if anything, there's going to be a small rollback, no more than 30 minutes of progression lost.

      Servers are back online, but you should know that the problem is entirely out of our hands. We will only know more when the Improbable engineers have completed their investigation on the service that crashed.

      What does this mean?

      It means that if the issue was a transient one, not to be seen again, everything is going to be alright tonight and perhaps for the whole test. If not, another crash might happen in 1 hour, 5 hours, 10 hours...

      In case it happens again, the rollback is guaranteed to be minimal, but it will be there.

      We're really sorry and disheartened this is happening when such an exciting alpha testing phase was just launched.

      We'll keep working on bug fixes and whatnot over the Easter holidays and the weekend, but once again, we can't make any promise the issue won't happen again.

      Our deepest apologies and thank you all for your understanding. We'll have some form of compensation for the downtime for you all for sure.

    • April 4th - Server Crash

      Hi,

      we've just experienced another server crash. The way it took place is similar to how it happened 3 days ago.

      As much it would be convenient to lie and say game servers were under heavy load, they were not. A component of our backend engine (SpatialOS) just crashed out of the blue for no reason we can fathom.

      We have considered stopping the Spring Alpha until the SpatialOS engineers have looked into the issue and solved it, which I'm sure they'll do quickly. We have decided against it because it's been 3 days since the last occurrence - and we hope that at least as much time will pass before it happens again (hoping it doesn't happen again at all, of course). Plus, we know many of you would rather keep playing and bear a 15-30m progression loss than not play at all.

      So, onwards with the Spring Alpha and let's make these servers scale up and stay stable so they're ready for our Steam launch! And of course, apologies for all the inconveniences this is causing.

      This forum section has been created to give Fractured players a place to look for a guild or to promote their own guild.

      A few rules apply here in addition to the standard Fractured Forum Rules, as listed below:

      • You are only allowed to open a thread for your guild or for yourself if you are looking for one.
      • If your guild is targeted to players speaking a specific language, or if you are looking for a guild using a specific language, you are allowed to discuss using that language in your thread.
      • This section is just for guild recruitment, not for guild politics and competition.
      • Adding to the previous point and more generally speaking, don't post replies to recruitment threads unless you're want to receive more information on the guild or want to become a member.
      • We invite you to actually create the guild in The Foundation and add the link to its page to your recruitment thread. You don't have to do it, but it makes things much easier!

      Threads and posts that break the rules outlined above will be removed. Posts in a recruitment thread might also be removed following a request from the guildmaster / lieutenant who has opened the thread.

      The UI is just a first iteration, but conceptually it will stay like that, yes. The water is made with a shader applied to a plane, as it's usually done πŸ™‚

      3. Sure it does. An Abomination is equivalent to a Demon, and so is treated. Things for Angels are more complex.
      4. Yes! They're really different races!
      5. They have to redeem themselves out of Tartaros - Babilis won't let them in their home planet 😞
      6. The final steps that complete the transformation include Divine Quests, yes πŸ˜‰
